Fangcun (方寸) literally translates to "a square inch."

However, in Chinese philosophy, cultivation novels (Xianxia), and classic literature, it has a profound metaphorical meaning.

- The Human Heart / The Mind: Ancient Chinese philosophers believed the human heart was roughly the size of a "square inch." Therefore, Fangcun is often used as a poetic term for one's inner mind, true self, or spiritual core.

- A Universe Within: It represents the Daoist concept of finding the infinite within the infinitesimal—containing an entire universe, endless wisdom, or a grand Dao within the tiny space of one's own heart.

- Mythological Origin: In the classic novel Journey to the West, the immortal who teaches the Monkey King (Sun Wukong) resides on Mount Lingtai Fangcun (The Mount of the Spiritual Heart and Square Inch).

Thus, a "Master of the Inner Dao" is not someone who rules over a tiny piece of land, but rather a supreme master who has conquered their inner world, proving that true Dao and limitless power originate from within the "square inch" of the human soul.
