A Farmer's Journey To Immortality - Chapter 572: Parasitizing Someone’s Luck

Chapter 572: Parasitizing Someone’s Luck
For a brief second, a strange light of ambition flashed across Aksai’s eyes.
‘Kekeke. I guess I need to nurture him well,’ he mused.
‘If I stay close to him, I might even be able to ride his wave of fortune to balance out the backlash of my own colorless fortune flame.’
Aksai immediately felt better, even though it was someone else’s good luck. He was ready to pause his capitalist thinking and call it their shared “our” luck with Shuan if it helped him in the future.
‘Haah! And here I was getting worried about my colorless fortune flame and the hidden dangers it poses to me. I suddenly don’t feel abandoned anymore. Maybe I’m not that unlucky after all. Maybe this is fate’s way of offering me a rope to hold onto.
So what if I end up latching onto this guy’s luck like a parasite? So what if his opportunities get affected because of my intervention? I’m sure a blue fortune flame owner would survive for as long as he’s supposed to, even if I were to make use of his luck for myself a bit.
Even my colorless fortune can benefit from this type of flame as long as I stay connected with Shuan for as long as I can.
Even though he might have survived just fine without me due to his blue fortune flame, the fact remains that I was the one who helped him in the beginning. As such, it’s only fair that I receive some dividends from my early investments.’
The Spirit Farmer slowly let his Astral Third Eye fade away, the spiritual shimmer vanishing as the normal world returned to view.
In front of him, Shuan still stood with an awkward grin, scratching the back of his head, unaware that Aksai had just peeked into the thread of his destiny.
Aksai gave him a faint smile. “I hope this guy gives me a pleasant surprise in the future with the kind of luck he has,” he said softly.
Shuan blinked, confused but happy. “Huh? Did you say something, Master?”
“Nothing,” Aksai replied, turning his gaze toward the horizon. “Just thinking that fortune favors the bold… and sometimes, the foolish too.”
Shuan didn’t get offended by Aksai’s teasing. Instead, he laughed. “Master, there’s no real difference between bold and foolish. It’s just the end results that define who’s who.”
Aksai chuckled before nodding slightly. Inside, his thoughts were already racing — calculating how best to mold and protect this bright flame of fate that had appeared before him.
Aksai then reached into his robe and pulled out a small glass vial filled with faintly glowing green liquid. He gave it a little shake, and the liquid shimmered like morning dew under sunlight. Without saying anything, he tossed the vial toward Shuan.
Aksai had remade the healing elixirs he had obtained from the Holy Land Torel. Although they weren’t as miraculous as the originals, the counterfeit recipes that Aksai had come up with were still a lot better than regular healing Spirit remedies.
Shuan caught it clumsily. He pulled the cork off and downed the elixir in one go. The taste was bitter at first but turned oddly sweet as it slid down his throat.
Within moments, the dull ache in his muscles began to fade. His bruises shrank, and even the swelling around his eye lessened as soft warmth spread through his body.
He flexed his arm and patted his chest, surprised at how quickly he felt whole again.
“That’s… really something,” he muttered with a grin. Then he stood up, brushed the dust off his clothes, and patted his rear before looking toward the core region of the Emerald Cove.
The familiar peaks and glimmering spirit mists stirred a quiet nostalgia in him. Memories of training, long nights of meditation, and Aksai’s cold yet patient voice all came back at once. He started walking toward the inner region, his steps slow but steady.
While walking, he raised his right hand and focused his Spirit Sense. The flying spear that had been lying lifelessly on the ground twitched, then rose into the air.
Shuan smiled as it hummed and pointed toward him. But just as the spear was about to fly to his hand, thick brown vines shot up from the ground again. They wrapped around the spear’s shaft like snakes and dragged it down.
Shuan froze, blinking in disbelief. He turned toward Aksai with a helpless look. Before he could speak, Aksai’s calm voice came from behind him.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Shuan turned around, confused. “To my house, master. Aren’t we heading to Shamrock Peak?”
Aksai shook his head slowly, his expression unreadable. “I am heading to Shamrock Peak. You, on the other hand, are going to train here with those two Second Order puppets.”
As if on cue, the two Sentient Bloodfiends who had been standing still on the sidelines suddenly moved. Their leathery flesh wings flapped once before they glided down and landed in front of Shuan.
“Um…”
Shuan’s throat went dry. He took a step back, raising both his hands defensively.
“Ma– master, it was my fault that I tried to test the array formation that you personally set. You don’t have to hold a grudge for such a small mistake, do you?” he said nervously, forcing a laugh.
The Bloodfiends took another step forward, their heavy footsteps echoing faintly. Aksai chuckled softly.
“Me? Harboring a grudge for your stupidity?” he said, his tone amused.
“Kekeke. Well, that’s not entirely false. But the more pressing matter right now is that you need proper training.”
Shuan frowned. “Master, I just broke into the Foundation Establishment realm. Even though I’ve stabilized my base, you’re asking too much from a new Expert.”
Aksai smirked, his eyes gleaming with mischief.
“That’s exactly why you need to train with those puppets right now. You lack real combat experience. And battles with your life on the line are the quickest way to gain it.”
