The help could be in the form of Spirit cultivators, resources, or access to various attack and defensive formations.
Unlike the Big Five Sects, Aksai’s Emerald Cove Guild did not have a reliable battle formation that could be used by multiple Spirit cultivators.
As such, Aksai wanted to borrow the Purple River Sect’s battle formation technique to create one that could be used exclusively by his own guild.
Basically, Aksai was trying to create a not-so-unique battle formation that was heavily inspired by the Purple River Sect’s battle formation. The quickest way to gain a stable formation was to copy it so that it would only look different from the outside.
With Aksai’s Neural Link Fabric, it wouldn’t be difficult to make his inspired battle formation produce distinct Spirit signatures as well. It would provide the Purple River Sect with plausible deniability and keep the martial alliance a secret for a considerable amount of time.
This way, Aksai’s guild members would be able to access a reliable battle formation to tackle the incoming chaos in the future. Aksai was bound to create a unique battle formation in the future. But until then, he could make use of this inspired battle formation to increase the survival rates of his guild members severalfold.
Aksai and the Purple River Lord also discussed the possibility of expanding their trade.
Aksai would provide a regular batch of the concentrated purple poison contained in the vial. In return, the Purple River Sect would provide rare poison materials from the marshland.
The Emerald Cove Guild would provide pills, talismans, weapons, and other Spirit resources gathered from its wide trade network in order to strengthen the Purple River Sect, which had been facing some troubles for the last few years. At the same time, Aksai would make use of the sect’s forces to increase the Emerald Cove Guild’s presence on the mainland.
The sealed vial on the table also became part of the discussion. Aksai did not plan to give the poison blood he had obtained from the fallen dao beast all at once. Instead, he agreed to provide small portions of the concentrated poison to the Purple River Sect over time.
This way, the sect could slowly restore the strength of the Purple Poison River and maintain its cultivation methods. The Purple River Lord found this arrangement fair. Their discussion continued for quite some time.
By the time they finished, the wine in their cups had been refilled several times.
Outside the building, the sky had already started turning darker.
Inside the quiet room, two Core Formation Lords had just formed a secret alliance that could change the balance of power across the Dadangar Subcontinent.
***
A few weeks later.
Hour of Shadow Snake (11:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
Night had fallen over the Dadangar Seas.
The vast ocean looked calm under the pale moonlight. Long silver reflections stretched across the surface of the water as the waves moved slowly in the dark.
Far away from the busy routes of ships and merchants, two small barren islands sat quietly in the middle of the sea. There were no trees on them. No animals. Only rocks, sand, and the endless sound of the sea wind.
Yet tonight, these empty islands were anything but quiet.
Strong Spirit energy was gathering above them.
Dark clouds had started forming in the sky, slowly swirling like a massive whirlpool in the heavens. The clouds grew thicker with every passing moment. Faint flashes of lightning appeared within them from time to time, illuminating the sea for a brief instant before darkness returned again.
On one island sat Naisha.
She was seated cross-legged on a flat rock near the center of the island. Her long hair moved slightly in the sea wind, but her body remained completely still. Around her, dozens of Spirit stones were arranged in a careful formation that Aksai had personally prepared earlier.
The Spirit stones glowed faintly as they released steady streams of Spirit energy.
Naisha’s breathing was slow and controlled. Her eyes were closed as she focused entirely on guiding the Spirit energy inside her body.
On the second island, a few miles away, Jina was doing the same.
She too sat cross-legged on the ground while a similar formation of Spirit stones surrounded her. Waves crashed against the edges of the island from time to time, but the sound did not disturb her concentration.
Above both islands, the sky continued to grow darker.
The gathering clouds had now turned heavy and restless.
Far away from both islands, a single figure floated quietly in the air above the sea.
Aksai’s hands were folded behind his back as he observed both islands from a distance. His expression remained calm and focused while his Spirit sense spread across the surrounding area.
It had been a few weeks since his meeting with the Purple River Lord.
During that time, Aksai had barely rested. He had been busy strengthening the Emerald Cove Guild in many ways. Resources were reorganized. New defensive formations were placed across Emerald Cove Island. The guild’s trade routes were expanded further into the mainland.
But tonight, his focus was on something else.
Strengthening his core subordinates.
Naisha and Jina had reached the Foundation Establishment Perfection realm long ago. Their cultivation had been stable for quite some time.
However, advancing into the Core Formation realm was never a simple matter.
Normally, the process required both talent and luck. Many cultivators remained stuck at this stage for the rest of their lives. But the situation in the Dadangar Subcontinent had changed recently.
The restrictions placed on the dao paths had been lifted. Ever since that change, breakthroughs into the Core Formation realm had become easier for those who had already reached the peak of Foundation Establishment. The introduction of the newly ascended Lords was only the beginning.
Aksai had no intention of wasting this opportunity. Early birds get the rewards.
Both Naisha and Jina had already been prepared long before this night arrived. They had waited for Aksai to come out of the Heavenly Poison Sect so that they could finally become bonafide Lords.
