Chapter 288: Soul Technique
Chapter 288: Soul Technique
Suddenly, a lion’s head projection flared behind Leon’s head, and it opened its maw wide.
“RROOOOAAAARRRRRRR!!!”
Leo felt his head shake a little, but nonetheless, he was still strong enough to counter the mental attack. But it wasn’t the same for the audience.
“AHHH!!”
“S-so scary!”
People grimaced, their faces paling.
“Tsk.” Tarun clicked his tongue as another wave rippled through the telekinetic barrier, which completely trapped the roar. But he was already late, as many people in the front seats had already fainted.
“Katherine! Why didn’t you tell me he had a mental attack with him?” he said in annoyance, transmitting a telepathic message.
“Even I didn’t know about it—how would I tell you?” she replied dismissively, focusing on the match.
Down below-
“No effect of the lion’s roar? You really crossed Pseudo 4-star, huh?” Leon said with a grin as his white claws elongated.
Leo brought out his dagger, but even before he could steady himself, Leon moved. He was already in front of him.
“Huh?” Leo was shocked at his speed.
Clank!
Claw met dagger as sparks burst between them. Leon’s height now dwarfed Leo’s by more than 2 feet. But the next moment, a punch came crashing into Leo.
BAM!
He was thrown back, his chest visibly caved in with the mark of Leon’s punch. But once again, Leon caught up to Leo while he was still mid-air—an aura-infused punch, combined with [Critical Strike], aimed straight for his head.
Leo blocked the attack by raising his hand, but the bone audibly cracked, and the force doubled the speed at which he was flung away. Yet once again, Leon somehow caught up to him.
“How the fuck are you so fast!” Leo shouted.
[Luminous Prowl Steps]!
This time, Leo managed to dodge the incoming attack, but Leon was once again in front of him.
“What the fu—!”
A punch slammed straight into his chin, sending him flying in an arc.
Leo’s high-speed regeneration was working over the clock to compete with the damage he was receiving.
Katherine, in her seat, stood up.
“How? How is he using soul fusion and the soul technique related to movement simultaneously? Leave that—how is he able to maintain it for so long!?” She was baffled. Leon was afflicted by a soul-devouring curse that corroded his soul at a rapid pace. This not only put him in mortal danger but also prevented him from using soul fusion and soul techniques for long durations. According to Katherine’s calculations, Leon’s soul should have already corroded to an even lower level than the Common tier.
“Even if he rationed the soul treasures that he took the day he left the house, at the very least, he should have been able to maintain only soul fusion—and that too, not more than a minute. But what the hell is this? It’s been 5 minutes, and there is no sign of him getting tired?” she muttered in confusion.
“It’s that boy,” Brant simply said.
“I am 100% sure now that he has some special perk with his talent or some special treasure. I noticed that little girl Miho also progressed way too fast, even for a genius. He is good at hiding things.”
“If he has something so good, why are you not taking it from him?” Katherine asked.
“He will vanish the moment he senses anything stupid; let him be the one to reveal things naturally. And if we force something and something happens to him… combined with the fact that he is helping Leon… you should be aware of what will happen to us. Even if he is your brother, he won’t hesitate a single second to finish you.”
Katherine’s expression soured.
“Hmph! That stupid brother acts like he cares when he allowed dragons to kill his own wife and daughter.”
Brant sighed.
“I will tell Gunther not to insist too much, even if he thinks he is being fed wrong information. Leo is important; we need to keep him.”
“Why do you think he will give us wrong information about his talent? Will it not ultimately help him when we procure the things for his advancement?”
Brant chuckled.
“That brat lied—more like told half-truths—almost every time I talked to him personally, and he was merely a peak 2-star being at that time and knew I could flick him out of existence. Why do you think he will tell everything now, when he can display strength surpassing a 4-star?”
“What’s the reason for this much caution? We are not going to kill him or anything,” Katherine said.
“Don’t you know every person from the outskirts and border regions is the same? They are treated so badly by the authorities; such caution is necessary. And truth be told, if he were to reveal everything to me—even when he is from the outskirts—I would have never taken interest in him. In that case, he would just be a foolish person with a good talent. And we don’t need such people for humanity,” Brant said with a stern expression, as if he had personally dealt with such cases.
Katherine frowned.
“Don’t lie to me at least… he is really from the outskirts…?” she asked doubtfully.
“I have personally talked with the baron of that city. As a matter of fact, his awakening time has barely been 3 months,” Brant said flatly.
Katherine looked at him incredulously.
“Now you are really saying a lie like it’s a white lie. It’s simply impossible.” Her eyes widened.
Brant smirked.
“Why would I lie to my sweetheart?”
Katherine clenched her teeth in annoyance.
Then both of their eyes shifted to the arena, which was getting completely destroyed.
“Slow down, you basta—BUH!” Leo was once again flung to the side after receiving a side kick to his abdomen.
“Leon! Leon! Leon!” the crowd cheered as they watched Leon completely dominate the match. He was so fast he seemed to blink in and out of existence, and every time he appeared, it was to deliver another blow to Leo.
