The spoon Miho had been using to feed Leon directly into his mouth slipped from her hand and hit the ground as her mouth fell open.
“Auntie…?” Leon muttered when he saw Katherine standing there with her hands folded, watching the scene with a stern expression.
“So, this is what you have been doing from the moment you arrived at the academy? Not even coming to meet your lovely auntie, but fooling around with a girl?”
Then her eyes shifted toward Miho. Just that gaze alone was enough to send Miho into crisis.
“And you! Are you the one called Miho, right? You didn’t even come to meet your personal teacher after being personally selected by me, and you are already on your way to bewitch my nephew? Do you want your training regimen to be hell?”
Miho’s eyes widened when she realised who the purple-haired lady standing before them was.
“P-P-Professor Katherine!” she hurriedly stood up and took a few steps forward, leaving Leon behind.
“I greet my teacher!” She bent a full 90 degrees and shouted.
“I like you, but not the way you are doing things. Reaching out to my nephew behind my back? Tsk tsk, not a good tactic to get close to me. It will only make your training schedule stricter,” she said, making Miho pale.
Miho had already heard snippets of Katherine’s training methods through Lily, and for her, the methods could only be described as brutal.
10,000 vertical slashes in 3 hours, with the last swing ending with the same intensity as the first one with perfect form? That was simply inhumane. And restart if even one went wrong. If not able to complete it on time, then 100 laps across the academy within an hour. What the hell?
And all that on an empty stomach.
And following all that, specific element training—because it turned out Katherine had only tamed spirits even if she was a beast master. All her spirits were of varied kinds, not following the norm, yet still as strong, if not stronger, than single-element masters.
Though she did have difficulties defeating a similar-level single-element master. But she literally didn’t have any elemental disadvantages. So even a slightly lower-level being could not threaten her with a superior element.
Miho was surprised Lily never complained about such a brutal way of training, as if determined to get as strong as possible as quickly as possible. Driven purely for some specific mortal reason.
“T-teacher! Brother Leon is seriously injured… I am just taking care of him…” Miho said, her last words coming out as a whisper under Katherine’s discerning gaze.
Katherine’s eyes moved to Leon. She appeared beside him in the next moment and examined the bandaged wound. A strange energy flickered in her eyes as she focused.
Her eyes narrowed slightly. Then she glanced toward Leo, who was standing just outside the shed and did not miss her gaze.
Does she know I fed that bastard a soul-healing treasure? Leo thought
But she didn’t voice her thoughts and simply nodded.
“Good. I guess the soul treasure you received as a reward… or some other source, is working wonders. You will be completely healed within 10 days.”
“By the way, these injuries shouldn’t stop you from retrieving Grivak…” She turned her head toward Miho, who flinched at the sight.
Katherine shook her head, looking defeated.
“So, I lost the opportunity to find you your partner…” she muttered, standing upright before walking outside to survey the surroundings. The others followed closely behind.
“Mana density is perfect for your levels…” Her eyes drifted to the ground and then directly toward the direction of Howl’s head.
“Nice elevated ground too… above an ancient savage beast,” she said, eyeing Leo as if gauging how he had managed to tame such a creature.
As she walked around, she eventually reached the heart of the territory—Bigfoot’s residence along with the Fluxsoil heart.
Miho had completely furnished the area. The magic plants were lined in proper arrangement, the Fluxsoil heart directly visible from the entrance of the druid’s cave, and a natural barrier of vines and trees blocked the view beyond. The druid itself, unlike its previous untidy appearance, looked quite noble for some large humanoid beast. The druid had to suffer a lot, but he couldn’t disagree when his deity also forced him alongside Miho
But Katherine frowned.
“You have an untamed intelligent beast inside the centre of your territory?” she asked Leo.
“Yes, the druid worships my Howl—Cragveil Colossus—and hears whatever command is given to him by us.”
Katherine nodded, her frown disappearing.
“You managed to domesticate an intelligent beast… that’s impressive.”
As she pondered, her eyes naturally drifted to the nearby towering tree—Titanbreath Lotus.
“Wait…” She tilted her head in confusion, but as she stepped closer to the tree, her brows lifted in surprise.
“You actually have another high-ranked treasure in your territory? And what’s this? It’s on the verge of a breakthrough!” she exclaimed, touching the vitality-rich bark.
“This…” She closed her eyes and sensed something.
“The treasure has selected your Colossus as its guardian… and the breakthrough has been suppressed by it.” She turned toward Leo.
“Are you waiting for a good opportunity to unleash the heaven and earth phenomenon?”
Leo nodded.
“I am sure many people will come looking for the source of the phenomenon, and at that time, I don’t want to lose this treasure due to my weakness.”
Katherine nodded. It was indeed a good plan. As a peak 5-star professional, a low-yellow tier treasure would not benefit her. As for adequate benefits, at the very least, she needed a peak yellow quality treasure. So Leo knew, this treasure wouldn’t entice her in slightest.
Then an idea sparked in her mind, and she excitedly shared it with Leo.
Leo’s eyes widened upon hearing the proposal.
“Is that really possible? And wouldn’t those instructors come at a later date?”
Katherine smiled smugly.
“When a threat of a Peak 5-star powerhouse looms over their heads, they wouldn’t even dare to peek in the direction of this territory.”
At the back, Leon was shocked by the revelation that their territory housed another such high-ranked treasure. He did know the big tree that produced those round glowing fruits Leo and Lily consumed directly was special, but a Low Yellow-tier treasure? This was simply astounding.
He looked up at the now 40 to 50 meter towering tree, and after hearing Katherine’s proposal, he nodded.
“This will help us reveal the minimum of our strength during the bounty day.”
Katherine also nodded.
“You made the absolutely right choice joining Leo’s territory, K. And for that, I approve of you marrying your little girl,” she said proudly.
“W-what?!” Miho shouted, her face turning red like a tomato.
