Chapter 318: Planning – 2
“You already have 6 territory members?”
“That’s good progress.”
Leo and the others were left dumbfounded by all of her deductions; she could figure anything out with just a glance.
Is this the level of a Peak 5-star being?
“Don’t be surprised by my way of doing things,” Katherine said calmly. “And yeah, don’t think that if I can do it, it means everybody at my level can do it. We have our private soul-expert teacher—Gunther—who teaches us directly to dissect a soul and guess many things. The final deduction lies in our experience; we have lived longer than your 10 generations of family.”
That long? Then why is she only at Peak 5-star level?
As if reading Leo’s thoughts, Katherine smiled faintly.
“Not everybody has those heaven-gifted talents like you all. And yes, that includes Miho too,” she said.
Leon seemed to understand what she was saying.
“Auntie, I suppose you haven’t come here for sightseeing?” Leon said.
“Ah! So cruel!” Katherine exclaimed, placing a hand over her chest as if greatly hurt.
“You really want me out of your sight so quickly?” she asked.
“It’s not that. I know your personality. You don’t like wasting time.”
“Fufu, that’s correct. I have come to check on Lily. Take me to her,” she said as Leo escorted her towards his shed.
“You really need some good building personnel to build your territory. What’s this beggar-like condition that you all are fans of living in?” she remarked, looking at the shed that appeared dilapidated to her.
As she stepped inside, Lily was seen sleeping on her bed with a calm expression.
Katherine placed one finger on Lily’s forehead and closed her eyes in concentration.
“Good. The sudden mana influx was expelled completely, and her condition seems to be stable. She will wake up soon. But this…”
“What?” Leo asked, concerned.
“She is on the cusp of becoming a Mid 4-star profession, and her regular training is designed for a Mid 3-star being… I suppose now she needs to do 10,000 swings in one hour?” Katherine muttered, but her words sent a shiver down Miho’s spine.
“There’s also the fact that she hasn’t learned good techniques for her level, and I suppose that’s true for you too. You both will be left beaten in the inter-academy competition if things proceed this way,” she said, glancing at Leo.
“I suggest you start getting teachings from Gunther as soon as your territory bounty passes. Don’t wait for the end of the 1-month relief period that the academy has provided after the competition,” she advised.
But then she looked around the shed once more and grimaced.
“No. Nope. I absolutely cannot allow my lovely students and nephew to stay in such a primitive way. You have your reward ACs with you, right? I will introduce you all to some good artisans.”
At that moment, Leon interjected.
“For that…” he began.
“What is it, K?”
“For that, we plan to bring in some artisan slaves. Preferably dwarves and wood elves.”
Hearing Leon’s words, Katherine’s eyes lit up.
“You don’t have a problem keeping slaves in your territory? That’s great. Oh wait! How can I forget—the biggest problem is to keep them fed and protected, and with the top 3 students in a single territory, that problem doesn’t even exist.”
“That’s good, that’s good. Wood elves, huh?” She nodded slowly, thinking to herself.
“A territory filled with beautiful girls will be a sight to behold and a fitting place for my dashing nephew. I can even allow you to choose a few from them as your concubines.”
Hearing that, Miho pursed her lips. She was already having a hard time with how Katherine was addressing Leon as ’K’, and now this. But Leon dismissed her worries with his next words.
“I am not going to have extra troubles, and don’t tell me you don’t know the benefits of soul bond.”
Hearing him, Katherine smiled, as if proud.
“Good! I like what you said. But just so you know, I am never opposed to the idea,” she said, casting a side glance at Miho as if testing the waters. She giggled upon seeing Miho squirming left and right, clearly uneasy at the words.
“Stop playing, auntie…” Leon said with a bored expression.
“Already being protective, huh? I see…”
With that, she came out of Lily’s shed to let her rest.
“Hubby said Lily has a Super Rare soul, which was said by you,” she said, pointing at Leo.
“I suppose you didn’t lie about that, and if that’s the case, she can tame another spirit. That’s good, but be aware—don’t try challenging extremely high-level spirits outside the Academy’s boundary. Like you observed in this case, a beast with just 2 minor ranks higher than your highest-ranked fighter—Leo—could hold its ground against you 3 and kill your beast even when it had a limited mana to work upon. So the next time you think of challenging a higher-ranked spirit, call any of us as insurance,” she said, referring to herself, Brant, Gunther, or Tarun.
“And well… in case its strength is low, don’t call. We are already quite busy.”
Leo looked at her sceptically, as if pointing out that she had already wasted quite a bit of time surveying his territory.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Katherine said with a chuckle. “I can always give some time for my long-lost nephew.”
With that, she prepared to depart.
“Look for a good secret realm yourself, and when you register to enter, I will make sure to be your overseer so you can go all out!” she said loudly while climbing onto a large Owl spirit beast in the distance.
Tempest Wing Owl (Intermediate 4-star) [Spirit] – Super Bloodline
*pic*
It was a massive 9-meter-tall owl with a wingspan of nearly 25 meters. The spirit beast was capable of carrying the whole scorpion’s body on its back when the scorpion reduced its size to 3-meter length.
It had storm-grey feathers streaked with lightning-like patterns. Leo thought it closely resembled Brant’s storm variant Skyrend Eagle. But at the same time, a question arose in Leo’s mind.
What extra benefits did a Spirit Caller have over a beast master that tamed spirits?
