Absolute Beast Dominion - Chapter 331: Sylrael

Chapter 331: Sylrael
Chapter 331: Sylrael
A pair of crystal green eyes shot open as the lime green-haired girl jolted upright from her leafy bed. She wore fitted garments of cured animal hide and woven bark fibre, trimmed with feathers and small, vivid-coloured gems. The long pointed ears marked her unmistakably as an elf.
She looked very pretty—so much so that nations would go to war just to get their hands on her.
Her hand immediately reached for the carved longbow lying beside her. Her eyes were wide, and sweat beaded across her skin as she panted lightly. Just then, the door to her room swung open.
A similar elven girl with delicate features rushed inside and hurried straight to her side.
“Sylrael! What happened?!” the other girl asked the one lying on the bed.
“Why did you shout in our minds?”
The one on the bed, revealed to be Sylrael, grabbed the other girl’s hands. They were trembling horribly.
“Hide…” she whispered, her face pale with horror.
“Aeila, inform the others. We simply cannot afford to fight with the people who are coming this time. We will be crushed! They—they have a dragon with them!”
Aeila’s eyes widened the moment she heard Sylrael. She stepped back and, without another word, rushed out.
Sylrael could hear Aeila shouting as she ran through the settlement, informing the others of the crisis they were about to face.
Soon, another figure appeared at her doorway. This one had red hair and eyes that resembled fire. A longbow with red markings rested firmly in her hand.
“Nae…”
“Syl, is it true? A dragon? Like a real dragon?”
Sylrael shook her head.
“No… but a two-headed hydra. I saw that the beast can change the topography of its surroundings…”
“That’s… two-headed…” Naelith muttered, gripping her bow more firmly. “I think I can manage to hold it until the realm closes once again.”
Sylrael shook her head again.
“It’s not the hydra… but the ones that defeated it.”
Naelith’s eyes widened.
“A two-headed hydra was defeated?” she asked, disbelief clear on her face.
“Yes. And the people that defeated it are coming this time,” Sylrael said gravely.
“Wait! Then shouldn’t they be way too strong for us? Like… the world will defend us, wouldn’t it?”
“No… they are 3, and their strength would be no greater than yours… at least that’s what I figured from this dream. It’s their coordination. And…”
“And?”
Sylrael looked straight into Naelith’s eyes.
“The two main fighters were men. Human men.”
Naelith gritted her teeth, her grip tightening around the bow.
“Humans…” she spat, venom lacing her voice.
“How many of our kin have they captured and enslaved… and that horrendous stuff they did to them…”
“Naelith! Calm down!” Sylrael said sharply. “We cannot fight this group. Let’s hide. Think about the others.”
Naelith slowly nodded.
“We have resisted for 36 years. We can resist more…”
“Yeah, but we need to play safe this time.”
“But I need just a little more material to advance to a Low 4-star being. That last group came nearly 2 years ago. I cannot miss this—”
Apparently, time flowed differently in secret realms.
Sylrael raised her hand, cutting her off.
“We need to ensure the safety of our sisters first. We can always have a better—safer—chance to gain strength.”
“But if I get stronger—”
“No buts. This time, we hide.”
Naelith opened her mouth to protest, but then realised it would indeed be a mistake to fight and risk the whole group.
—
Suddenly, the environment became charged with chaotic mana as energy swirled into a spiral and slowly began to take on a light purple colour gradient.
Leo and the group watched from a distance as static electricity crackled and the spiral continued expanding until the entire cave ending was covered, blocking the view behind it completely.
Leo took the moment to ask a question, his black hair fluttering slightly from the swirling chaotic energy—which was not wind.
“How did people discover this realm gate if it’s hidden so deep and in such an inconspicuous place?”
Hadir, still mindful of his previous mistake, promptly answered in a polite tone to improve his favorability.
“It was by chance. When the gate opened for the first time, a mountain hiking team was resting here. At that time, the environment was a bit warmer and the waterfall wasn’t frozen, so the cave entrance was visible. And due to the water blocking the cold winds, it was a favourable place to rest. Comfy and aesthetic.”
Leo nodded, satisfied with the explanation.
“Alright, students,” Katherine spoke in her usual sweet voice.
“Let’s not waste time. We just have 4 hours.”
But before that, Hadir and Katherine both took a photo of the group with the realm gate behind them. When asked, they explained it was for documentation that other academies might require. In case they brought a slave to an Inter-Academy competition, this would serve as proof that the slave had been acquired by Leo’s group during the academy’s session.
With that done, Katherine simply stepped forward and vanished into the swirling light-purple mess. Leo noticed that after the realm gate seemed to have fully opened, the crackling static energy had mostly settled.
The group exchanged glances and nodded before stepping in.
Leo felt a strange sensation, as if his body had suddenly lost all weight and was descending through something. It felt like being inside an elevator, except this time his vision was completely blank and with no sound whatsoever.
For a moment, Leo thought he had lost his physical body. But in the next instant, sunlight fell onto him.
He raised a hand to shield his eyes and looked up to see a bright sun high in the sky, casting direct afternoon rays over him.
Looking around, he saw the others nearby, all appearing just as confused as he felt. Katherine was nowhere in sight, almost as if she had already taken up her role as a shadow.
Leo glanced around and realised he was standing in the middle of a forest. His body quickly began to heat up because of the warm woollen clothes he was wearing.
The group promptly removed the heavy clothes and were back into the light garments and armour they were wearing underneath.
Rustle!
Leo sharply turned toward the sound.
