Chapter 333: Conquering A Realm – 2
Lily’s eyes sparkled at the sight.
“Leo!” she whispered.
“Do you think the elves would have made them?” she asked softly.
“Might be, since they would be the only ones in this realm able to craft such intricate designs,” Leo replied.
But it was Kaelion who confirmed it.
“I am 100% sure it’s the elves’ work. Since the Realm has been open for a long time, there’s no way these houses would be this well-honed if they weren’t made here and maintained,” Kaelion explained. As he spoke, he pointed out various details—missing decorative materials that would be present but impossible to craft from the limited resources of a Secret Realm.
“Leo! Let’s capture them quickly and tell them to build our house. I want to live in houses like these,” Lily whispered excitedly, pointing at the small-scale village in front.
Leo nodded and activated his stealth as he alone stepped into the village. Shyra was also lurking around when he felt a faint intent from her.
“A beast?”
As he made his way toward the location Shyra indicated, he saw the beast.
Verdant Stag (Mid 3-star) – Mortal Bloodline
It was a graceful 4-meter deer-like creature with emerald fur and antlers that shimmered like polished crystal. But at the moment, it was munching on a heap of green grass that glowed faintly.
Low vitality grass – White Tier Treasure
A grass rich in vitality that grows in a mana-rich environment when supplied with fresh water. It has a very low healing effect and slightly increases vitality when consumed by herbivore beasts.
Leo observed silently while remaining in stealth. This was the only beast in the surroundings, and he also noticed that the grass had been gathered into one place rather than growing naturally.
Leo figured it out at once.
“Another trap…”
Because there was no way a deer could collect grass like that, not to mention leave it right in the middle of an abandoned village.
He thought for a moment, then picked up a rock and threw it toward one of the houses in the distance.
Tlak!
The moment the rock struck the wood, the stag’s head snapped toward the sound. It didn’t hesitate and immediately charged in that direction.
It moved silently through the houses, leaving faint glowing footprints that slowly faded into the grass. Its horns began to glow brilliantly, as if charging an attack even before reaching the source of the noise.
“So ferocious,” Leo murmured from within his stealth.
The trap was the deer itself. If it had been any other group, they would have grown excited at the sight of the village and made some noise, and a mid-3-star beast would have come charging at them.
Leo simply returned to the group and informed them about the situation.
“Should we kill it?” Lily asked.
“No, leave it,” Kaelion suggested.
“Why?”
“I am pretty sure the elves are hiding. If we kill this beast, I suppose they will get informed. And then they would simply escape to the furthest place from here.”
Kaelion gave a plausible reason.
“Escape? Why not try cornering us?”
Kaelion shook his head slightly.
“The dreambearer—their dreams even have the capability to gauge the strength of their intruders. As far as I am aware, I have heard they sometimes receive glimpses of the intruder’s recent battles or their involvement. As a guess, I would say the dreambearer might have received a dream of our fresher competition.”
“Glimpses from the competition? Then I am pretty sure Lily will be a huge surprise for them. She received a tremendous boost in strength yesterday.”
Kaelion shrugged.
“I cannot know everything; many secret realms have their own mechanisms. There was even a case where the inhabitants could see a livestream of a certain region on Skadrial in the air 24/7 at random places.”
Leo raised a brow, intrigued by what Kaelion was talking about, but decided to address it later.
With that, Leo took one last survey of the village while in stealth. The deer had already returned to its grass and resumed munching. After that, Leo and his group once again departed.
Along the way, they came across 2 similar villages—decorated yet abandoned, with a beast munching on its desired food in the middle.
These beasts ranged from Low to High 3-star.
What the group did notice was that every beast was a herbivore, which included even insects like Andrew had mentioned, almost as if all carnivores had been selectively eradicated.
Moving in a straight line for almost half an hour, Leo finally arrived at the end of the realm—the realm boundary.
They were still some distance away, but they could clearly see a misty barrier.
Feels like the map still hasn’t been loaded in a game yet… Leo thought, recalling various games he had played back on Earth.
Watching the mist boundary felt strange, as if the eyes wandered everywhere and couldn’t focus on a single point. No—more like there was nothing to focus on, yet the mist was still visible.
“Weird…” Leo muttered.
He stood just in front of the boundary, trying to figure things out. He wanted to step in but felt reluctant.
“Go in and try. It’s not harmful,” a sweet voice said from nowhere. Leo realized it was Katherine who had been following them the whole time and was still invisible.
Leo sucked in a deep breath and stepped forward with his hand extended. He walked in and disappeared.
“Leo?” Lily called out worriedly.
But the next moment, Leo appeared again in the exact same extended-hand posture, his breath still sucked in.
Leo was taken aback.
“But I never turned around…?” he said slowly.
A jovial giggling voice echoed from the surroundings. Katherine clearly found Leo’s antics amusing—almost like watching a child discovering something new.
Leo didn’t react. Instead, he suddenly turned and ran straight into the mist at full speed. Yet he came back through the same spot at the same speed and crashed directly into Kaelion.
“Bastard, are you a kid?” Kaelion cursed, trying to push Leo away.
“Hm? I just wanted to figure out if changing my speed would make a difference,” Leo said calmly as he sat comfortably on Kaelion’s back like it was a seat.
He could feel the giggling lady’s mood sour when she saw Leo sitting on top of Kaelion. But Leo knew she wouldn’t do anything. Leo tried standing up.
“Oh shit, I slipped,” he said with no urgency in his voice as he pushed Kaelion further onto the ground.
“Fucker!” Kaelion snapped as Leo finally stood up.
“You should really not fight today. You cannot exert your full strength with that injured body. Keke,” Leo snickered.
But Leo’s joking expression suddenly changed, turning serious.
“Prepare… We have our first welcome party.”
