Chapter 352: Luxurious Sheds – 2
“M-Mas–!”
Rustle.
Sylrael, who still wasn’t used to calling someone master, stopped when a faint rustle drew the group’s attention.
“Who’s there!” an alarmed voice called out. But Leo recognised him.
“Virat, it’s me. Leo.”
Rustle.
Virat’s figure came into view through the bushes and trees, holding the Desert Eagle aimed straight ahead like an alert soldier. But upon seeing Leo, he relaxed and lowered the gun.
“Lord, it’s you. I thought someone attacked.”
Leo was pleased to see Virat attentive on guard—but the next moment, he realised a few combatants were missing.
“Where are those three?” Leo asked.
Though Virat was momentarily shocked after seeing so many girls, he quickly snapped back.
“Aina and Mira are sleeping, and Sylva is currently guarding the other half. She might not have heard you. Though I texted them the moment I heard some noise, they should be coming soon.”
“Good job. Keep being attentive like this. But I suppose guarding the whole perimeter must be difficult with just 2 people?” Leo asked.
Virat scratched his head.
“Yes… a little. Manpower is a bit low for 7 hectares of land.”
Leo nodded; at least he wasn’t a butterer like those stupid people under the general of his previous life.
“Then rejoice. Meet the new members of our territory,” he said, pointing toward the elves.
But since there was no moon in the sky, it was quite dark, and Virat could only make out body shapes. He scanned again.
“All are girls…” he muttered.
“How did you convince so many fresher girls to join a territory that has yet to complete its bounty?” Virat asked, half-suspicious that he might have used his status as the 1st-ranked student to lure them. If so, he might be very disappointed.
But he also knew his disappointment meant nothing to Leo; Leo was strong, and the strong had leeway.
“Look closely, idiot,” Leo said.
Virat frowned but still concentrated. Once again, his eyes unnaturally contracted as some sort of constructive change occurred in them. Leo and Kaelion noticed it at once.
Superior body… Leo thought as he narrowed his eyes. He had also sensed that Virat seemed to have heard the eagle landing from afar and had come running at an unnatural speed.
Is he a Superman? Leo joked inwardly.
By now, Virat’s eyes seemed to have adjusted as they widened.
“Long ears… Elves!” His eyes once again ran across the crowd. This time, his vision was clear.
“All are elves!” he exclaimed.
“Lord! Did you buy them? How much did they even cost?!” Virat was shocked since even if all were of the lowest category—no skill, no talent, no soul rank—they would still go for a million. So at least 20 million AC.
Oh, right, we didn’t inform anyone, Leo thought after hearing the question.
“No. We were busy capturing them the whole day from a secret realm.”
Virat nodded.
“So, will they help us protect the territory?”
“Yes, but not today. You go back and guard the perimeter. Inform those three not to come and rest. We will do the briefing tomorrow.”
Virat nodded and promptly left, knowing everybody must be tired.
After this, Leo turned back to Sylrael.
“What were you saying?”
“I–We… what are these things that we have in our hands?” she hesitated but asked.
“Isn’t it obvious? It’s your daily necessities like spare clothes, soaps, brushes, etc. From now on, you will be living here and protecting it at all costs…” He thought for a while and continued.
“From now on, this is your homeland, and the safety of this place is the top priority.” He said it that way because the territory was built on the back of Howl, and it was very likely that whenever they started roaming the world, Howl would move this place along with them. So, in a sense, this place was now a permanent residence.
Sylrael lowered her head and nodded. But finally, she gathered the courage.
“W-what about my sisters whose strength is 1-1-star…” Sylrael had a gist of what they were needed for after Leo’s talk with Virat; he wanted this place to be protected, and they were brought for that. This guaranteed that they would be left alive even if they had to go through hell, simply because they had the strength to fight.
But what about those who didn’t? Leo had already separated them. Sylrael’s thoughts spiralled to one place again and again—
Playthings.
She had been haunted by those dreams almost every day, and she perfectly knew what happened to playthings who were weak. After getting used to it, the last door that awaited them in a corner of a room was death.
Just then, Leo spoke his next words, and she was left speechless.
“They must be able to build houses, right? If not heavy lifting, then at least embroidery or the making of tools. Anything that contributes. That’s where they will go.” Then he realised what she had asked.
“Ah, you are worried about why I am separating them? It’s simple. They are too weak to proceed to the place I am about to take the rest of you.”
Sylrael’s mouth fell slightly open as no words came out. Somehow… Leo seemed nothing like the people she saw in her dreams.
Leo flicked his fingers to snap her out.
“What happened? Don’t tell me they aren’t even capable of that. If that’s the case, they can learn cooking—”
“T-they can!” Sylrael replied, her voice cracking with urgency, as if if she lost this moment to speak for her weak sisters, their future would be doomed.
“They b-build marvellous houses. Yo—Ek!” She winced as her collar activated due to not addressing Leo properly. But as if that didn’t bother her, she continued.
“M-master must have come across the various houses in the realm; they were all designed and built by them. They took upon that task so that others could focus on getting stronger.” But she didn’t stop.
“They can also make sturdy arrows, repair tools, cure animal hide—”
“Stop!” Leo commanded, raising his palm.
Though she wanted to say more, Sylrael couldn’t oppose Leo’s order.
