Brant softly held Katherine’s palms and gently removed them. Though he did it softly, Katherine couldn’t free herself; he was that strong, yet affectionate enough not to hurt her.
Katherine pouted and sat beside him as he also sat up, close to her. But their topic was something else, even if their body language suggested otherwise.
“You will take him to tame a water beast? But doesn’t he have two physical and two elemental beasts already?” she asked. “Having so many elements is disadvantageous. If it’s a matter of having water in their territory, Lily already tamed that hydra.”
Brant made a long face.
“Says the person who has so many elements that my old brain has already lost count,” he said dryly.
“Hmph! Who are you calling old?” She pinched his cheeks.
“This stupid skin is hiding so much of your handsomeness, can’t you be like me? My colleagues mock me because of your old face.”
But Brant ignored the comments.
“I even wonder if those colleagues of yours are still around, anyway,” he said lightly, then returned to the main topic. “Those element choices are for people who cannot afford to have multiples. If you look at his circumstances, do you think he should be bound to one or two?”
Katherine nodded slowly.
“You are right, if he has a high-ranking soul, he shouldn’t be limited to a handful of elements…”
“But don’t you think he wouldn’t be able to compete with my brother, who has mastery over just 2 elements, even though having such a high-ranking soul?”
Brant shook his head.
“Your brother has some weird obsession with space elements. Sometimes, I wonder if not for the chance of his body getting injured, he might not even work on the wood element to heal his body.”
“But didn’t that same obsession make him the strongest?”
Brant couldn’t refute that.
“Well… there’s nothing wrong with expecting a new variety of the strongest.”
“You really believe he has the capabilities to reach 8 stars, no?”
“That’s a given. Mark my words, if not 8-star, he will easily reach Peak 7-star, and that will be his own. He said he gets feedback from his beast—you can already understand what his potential is.”
Katherine was astonished.
“Now that’s new for me, why didn’t you say that before to me! Wouldn’t that mean his talent is comparable to Lily’s Spirit Caller? And he is alrea—wait…” Suddenly, realization struck her.
“If both are such monsters… just what kind of absolute beast will their kids become?”
Brant grinned.
“Add to this fact that we are culling the unnecessary talents, I just cannot imagine the type of beings we will be witnessing in the coming age of gods.”
“So it’s confirmed?”
“Yes, preparations are being finalised.”
—
Morning light fell onto Leo’s territory, but that same light felt like a thunder strike for the three blue-haired individuals.
“W-what…?” Sylva spoke aghast when she saw 6 elves, slave elves, having their shed built at some distance from their own.
“Lord Leo and Miss Lily… brought slaves?” Mira said to no one in particular, her eyes wide.
“Elves… they are elves…” Aina muttered under her breath.
They themselves were elves, so this was quite a shock to them when they saw the six 1-star elves first thing in the morning.
But they quickly masked their expressions when Veronica and Virat came out of their respective sheds.
“Ohhh, so these are the new girls Lord brought last night. But didn’t you say they were 20? Where are the rest?” Veronica asked, stretching lightly.
“Lord must have taken them to the higher residence,” Virat said, hinting at the plateau.
“Oh~ Is it what I think—”
Aina, Mira, and Sylva didn’t need to hear the full sentence before they understood the implication. Their faces darkening slightly. Just then, Brok came out, rubbing his eyes groggily.
“Don’t stain our leader’s personality with that perverted mind of yours,” Brok said flatly. “He is an upright man; he brought them so our territory can be defended in the upcoming bounty. I would say blame yourself for being so useless that external aid is required to protect our territory. Of course, the highest blame is on me since I am the oldest here.” He was as shameless as he could be.
Being together for nearly two weeks had made them comfortable with each other, though most of the credit went to Brok for having almost no shame.
Somehow, the three girls composed themselves.
“Senior Brok, is that really the only reason? And if that’s the case, why didn’t they inform us? I mean, we could have helped…” Sylva said, her eyes darting towards the green-haired elves dressed in matching clothing as they finished their sheds. The new sheds had almost turned luxurious in contrast with the previous ones they already had in the territory.
Brok narrowed his eyes at her question.
“Just know that leader Leo doesn’t have any ill intent in his mind. As a matter of fact, from the way they have been talking, I am pretty sure the elves will be treated like any regular member of the territory like us. Though you can already tell they will have different treatment from the fact that 14 of them have already been invited to the higher residence.” After finishing, Brok frowned slightly. He had talked more than he intended.
Am I swaying because of their pretty faces? Brok thought, reminding himself to watch his mouth next time.
“If not for those intent… Why take those new 14 elves inside? Even we are not allowed,” Mira asked.
Brok shrugged.
“How am I supposed to know that?” Though Brok had an idea, but he didn’t want to talk with these girls much because of what Lily had commented.
Brok remembered that Leo had said he valued trustworthiness, and if it was trustworthiness, there was nothing better than slaves with no chance for them to betray, thus their entry.
Virat raised his brow.
“Really? Will he not do anything with others? Like really? Is he a saint?” Virat asked with an incredulous expression. This was the first time he might be hearing such statements about a person having elves as their slaves.
Brok turned towards him.
“Even I was surprised when I heard the talk between them. They seem to be strangely disconnected from the mainstream, though in a good way.”
“I have heard rumours that the Lord and Miss are from the outskirts,” Veronica intervened.
“No way,” Virat refuted immediately, and the others seemed to agree.
