Absolute Beast Dominion - Chapter 358: Fish - 3

Chapter 358: Fish – 3
A/N: Correction!
Brant’s Skyrend eagle ranked up from intermediate 5-star to High 5-star, not Intermediate 4-star to High 5-star.

Chapter 358: Fish – 3
“Damn!” Leo exclaimed as they finally reached Gehra Lake. They had covered the whole 1300 Km within 5 minutes—such was the speed of a High 5-star Skyrend Eagle.
“Professor, where can I find such a fast beast?” Leo asked, still looking impressed.
“Beast like Storm?” Brant repeated, confirming if he was asking about his eagle.
“This guy is a special variety of Skyrend Eagle. A normal eagle that you can easily buy within the academy breeding grounds would travel at a max of 10 Mach alone and 15 in a flock, if you are lucky enough and get a Mortal or Super bloodline in an extremely lucky case.”
He looked at his eagle’s face, the wind sliding smoothly over the transparent barrier.
“This was a special breed that I acquired after venturing into an area that is perpetually stormy.” Brant side-eyed Leo.
“Don’t try to go alone in there. It’s a High 5-star zone with variant beasts roaming the ground and skies both.”
“So… this guy can travel at Mach 15 alone right now… though I don’t know what the flock speed would be, but it will be quite satisfying if I ever happen to know. And before you ask, yes, his speed can be said to be the highest tier among the flying birds. But there’s also another known species that you can look for. I guess you already know which I am talking about.”
Leo thought for a while, and then it clicked.
“Uraan’s Falcon.”
“Yes. I will say approach him if you need a flying ride. There are some mountainous areas in the academy where falcons reside, even the variant ones. Uraan, being from the mountains, will give you some tips,” Brant said before instructing the eagle to descend lower.
As the distance between them and the water surface decreased, a chill ran down Leo’s spine, cold and instinctive.
Brant chuckled.
“Felt it, right? That’s because water is much more dangerous than land. Even this small piece of the water body houses a hidden King-tier beast within its depths.”
“King tier… 7-stars!” Leo realised the severity.
“Yes, and though fewer, I suppose there must be around 3 to 4 in this lake, 100s of 6-star beasts, and countless 5-star ones.”
“So dangerous…” Leo muttered with wide eyes as he gazed at the lake surface, which seemed infinitely deep.
Bluish water disappeared into darkness with no sign of the lake floor. And the lake wasn’t even 5 kilometres deep, yet it looked so unfathomable.
The eagle hovered 1 kilometre above the lake, gliding at 300 Km per hour. And even though the speed was very high, it was strangely comforting.
With no sign of nearby land, no landmark to compare the speed, the eagle’s barrier blocking the wind pressure, an endless span of still water moving in a drifting current, the early morning ambience in the air, and the completely clear blue sky—it was the best place and environment a person could ask to sleep in.
Such a great place and feeling, I need to bring Lily too to make her experience such an awesome feeling,
he promised himself as he closed his eyes, letting himself drift in the moment.
He had never been so thankful as now for the opportunity to come into this world and have the capability to be strong enough to explore the whole world, discover cool places, and experience more such awesome feelings.
Brant smiled as he saw Leo enjoying the moment and chose not to disturb him. At some point in time, Brant had been exactly like Leo.
“Want to go lower?” Brant asked after a few minutes.
“Yes, if that would be okay for you,” Leo replied.
“Yes, of course.” Brant closed his eyes and sensed something.
“It’s safe. We will glide at 200 meters then.” Brant finished his sentence as the eagle descended further and stopped exactly at 200 meters, once again travelling at 300 Kmph, which didn’t feel like anything without any focal point to compare it to. They were already 10s of kilometres deep, so the land behind them wasn’t a good reference point.
At such speed, the wind pressure was given, though Leo didn’t feel any. When he looked back, in the distance, the watersurface was being cut sharply by the motion created by the eagle’s flight.
As they glided, Brant began to speak.
“The lake region… in terms of distance from the lakeshore, can be divided into 4 parts.”
“Low risk, Moderate risk, High risk, and Extreme risk. There can be more depending on the water body, but for Gehra Lake, this much is enough.”
He continued.
“If we specifically take Gehra Lake into account, 500 meters from the shoreline is a low-risk zone with only 1 or 2-star beasts around. Though you need to be careful at river deltas—beasts up to 6-star can be found there.” Then he thought of something and added,
“Though I am talking about beasts found in water, if there are high-ranking land beasts at the shoreline, we cannot determine the risk based on water alone.”
“Now for the moderate risk zone… this is where we are flying right now. 500 meters to 100 Km. This is a moderate risk zone with a best generally of a 4-star rank, and yeah, generally, in some cases, a 5-star beast might appear if they ended up travelling far while following their prey.”
Leo was astonished.
’Generally’ a 4-star beast in only moderate risk zones? Damn!
Brant continued.
“High-risk zone starts from 100 Km distance to 1000 Km, with the highest ranked beast of peak 6-star rank.”
He looked at Leo.
“And this is also where I can take you the farthest. Even I am not all-powerful.”
Leo nodded. Even venturing into areas where Peak 6-star beasts roamed was an unfathomable feat for the current Leo.
“The last zone, the extreme risk zone, from 1000 Km to 2000 Km, is the deadliest. Don’t even dare to hover under 5 kilometres above the surface of that water if you don’t want to get shot by an unknown water beam or some sort of death beam. You haven’t seen 6-star individuals, but a range of 5 kilometres is nothing for them… especially beasts. A beast is always superior to a human.”
2000 meters was the center point of the lake, after which it was same from the opposite side.
While Brant was talking with him, suddenly—
shk-shk-shk… srrr… tik-tik…
Leo’s attention snapped to the water’s surface. All this time, the still and undisturbed surface suddenly became active as Leo saw a large school of small silver-coloured fish, in the range of Mid 1-star to Low 2-star rank, suddenly divert as a gap formed just beneath the region they would be crossing the next moment.

There it was—first the reflecting, razor-sharp teeth, then the huge body, similar to that of a stingray, ascending towards them at an astonishing swimming speed. The water itself swirled around its fins as if propelling it upward.
