Apocalypse Gachapon - Chapter 1979: Who to go (2)

“The captains of the main combat teams definitely cannot go if there is no commander to replace them, especially those with extremely distinct characteristics, such as Little Tiger’s cavalry army and Xiao Peng’s amphibious army.”
“So for this Guiding Day, I have thought about it and decided to let Chuyin, Yellow Ball, and the Death King Tree go up.”
The people below did not quite understand; there were clearly five admission tickets, so why send only three up?
“Sister Lei, there are five admission tickets. Are you afraid that losing too many top-tier lifeforms will affect us?”
Gan Lan asked in a not very loud voice, which was what everyone wanted to ask.
“I… mmph!”
Yangos opened its mouth to express its opinion, but Liu Zhenghong quickly pressed down with both hands to cover its mouth.
This guy’s bad breath was simply uniquely potent and unmistakable.
Yangos feared death; that was true, but it had always been very concerned with the question ‘who am I, where am I?’
Some information that occasionally flashed in its mind made it confused every time.
It always felt it did not belong here, so could it belong to… one of the cosmic races?
This wasn’t to say the usually unruly evil dragon, who always wanted to be king and dominate, had any thoughts of breaking away from Ye Zhongming or Cloud Peak. Still, it really wanted to know its identity.
On Earth, it was clearly impossible to find the answer, so only by going to the heavens was there this possibility.
“Stay on Earth. If you perform well, I will talk to Zhongming about letting you go to the skies.”
Yangos whimpered, its always-erect dragon whiskers going limp and falling to the ground, looking as if it didn’t want to live anymore.
“I indeed have five admission tickets in hand, but Zhongming said one of them must be given to a family faction in Europe. He promised someone in the cosmic races. So, our Cloud Peak only has four. Besides Chuyin, Yellow Ball, and the Death King Tree, the other one I plan to leave for a member of the Chameleon action team.”
Hearing this, everyone then knew that there really was already a nine-star evolved within Chameleon!
That special department established by the Cloud Peak King had truly become powerful to an unimaginable extent.
Among those present, including the lively Little Tiger, no one was actually foolish. Regarding Xia Lei not discussing with everyone and directly deciding the candidates for the admission tickets, everyone quickly thought it over in their hearts. Combined with comparing all the level-nine lifeforms, everyone gradually guessed Xia Lei’s intention.
Now Cloud Peak’s top-tier lifeforms included Mo Ye, Liang Chuyin, the Death King Tree, Yellow Ball, Red Hair, the Undead Dragon Fish, the Talking Lady, the Black Cat, Yangos, DeaconTong, as well as the unknown Chameleon member and Little Tiger, who was about to evolve to nine-star.
Twelve in total.
Choosing four out of twelve seemed simple, but involved many aspects.
Liang Chuyin, the Death King Tree, Yellow Ball, and the Chameleon member—four lifeforms actually represented four aspects.
First, Liang Chuyin. Xia Lei just said main combat team captains cannot go, so Little Tiger and Mo Ye were immediately excluded, but why could Influencer Sister go?
No other reason: among Ye Zhongming’s women, there must always be one going up! Xia Lei could not go; she was not a nine-star evolved, and even if she were, Cloud Peak could not do without her leadership. Xia Bai was also not a nine-star, but if she competed with Little Tiger for that nine-star potion, she could also evolve. But if she left, the Female Guard would be leaderless. Also, from a personality perspective, she was more suited to be a blade. And Ye Zhongming himself was actually a blade; he didn’t urgently need another one.
Put another way, the lifeforms in the cosmic races were too powerful. If Xia Bai went up, at most, she would be a blade handle.
Miya could not go either; her evolution level was eight-star, and wanting to become nine-star wasn’t a high enough priority; it wouldn’t be her turn.
Second was Yellow Ball; it was the representative of Zhongming’s war beasts.
Ye Zhongming had many war beasts. As representatives among them, both Yellow Ball and Yangos were top-tier lifeforms. Choosing between these two wasn’t actually difficult.
Yellow Ball had followed Ye Zhongming since the beginning of the apocalypse, through life and death, never leaving, extremely understanding bond between man and dog. In the skies, Yellow Ball would be of greater help to Ye Zhongming.
Perhaps Yangos overall strength was slightly stronger, and it could fly, but its personality determined it simply had no chance to go to the heavens
With such an unwilling character, what if it saw so many powerful beings and so many strong races in the heavens and betrayed them?
This was speculation, and the probability wasn’t high, but Xia Lei truly dared not take the risk. Originally, the purpose was to send Cloud Peak members to the heavens to help Ye Zhongming. If in the end not only did they not help, but caused trouble for Ye Zhongming, that would be her failure as a wife.
Next was the Death King Tree.
This was the representative of the mutated lifeforms belonging to Cloud Peak.
The Talking Woman and the Black Cat definitely could not go up. Among the reasons were issues of loyalty, similar to Yangos. On Earth, it was fine, but in the skies, it might not be certain.
If they didn’t go, then Red Hair and the Undead Dragon Fish had to stay as well; these two pairs originally kept each other in check.
Moreover, if these two pairs went, they would occupy two spots each, which was also troublesome.
The Death King Tree was undoubtedly more suitable than they. She now truly considered herself a member of Cloud Peak. Her powerful attack capabilities, both single-target and area-of-effect, would bring great help to Ye Zhongming.
As for that Chameleon member, everyone didn’t know who it was or what abilities they had. However, as Ye Zhongming’s ‘personal army’ besides the Female Guard, selecting the most outstanding person to serve under their King was also a very normal thing. This was much better than letting the newly joined Deacon Tong go to the heavens. Taking a step back, even if you wanted them to go up, they might not necessarily go.
The four spots actually took care of all aspects.
Since everyone had figured it out, and there were no objections, they discussed some more issues before the meeting ended. Everyone went to Xia Lei to receive detailed war zone maps and various materials, then bid each other farewell and left. The next meeting would be in two months.
After all the core members left, Xia Lei went to Liu Zhenghong’s Gene Lifeform Research Lab. Sister Hong, in a lab coat, was waiting for her.
“Little Lei, why did you ask me to bring you here?”
The two were now in a laboratory surrounded by various kinds of corpses. The temperature was very low to prevent decay. If others were present, they would definitely recognize that the corpses here were all of those monsters without magic crystals, i.e., the parasites.
Xia Lei walked to the center of the laboratory. On a table, there lay a corpse—the one Ye Zhongming brought back from the Cold Bay Rainforest.
“Sister Hong, not long after the apocalypse began, you were researching the Green-Skin Demons. Later, experimental subjects of this kind of lifeform were continuously sent here. So, what results has your research achieved so far?”
Xia Lei turned her head and asked Liu Zhenghong.
