Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person - Chapter 101 - 88: Another Theory

Chapter 101: Chapter 88: Another Theory
Zhang Xin clearly despised the bespectacled man’s theory.
“Regardless of the reasons, what we are experiencing now is real. The future is bleak, but at least we’re still alive, and that’s good!” Zhang Su said with a carefree smile, “It’s getting late. We should get going. Leave the zombies outside to us!”
Turning to leave, Zhang Su pondered the speculation about an advanced civilization descending, helplessly curling his lips. Whatever the reason, it wasn’t a force they could contend with.
“Hey!”
Suddenly, a young man in the crowd on Zhang Xin’s side stepped forward, looking conflicted, “Master Xin, I, I want to go out with them. Is that okay?”
As soon as he said this, the atmosphere immediately turned strange, as if even the wind brushing past them chilled a few degrees.
Zhang Su saw the speaker seemed to be about twenty-three or twenty-four years old, probably not long out of college and into society. He looked quite refined, but unexpectedly his words and actions were so outrageous!
Even Lu Yubo, who was generally the most thoughtless, frowned. He was reckless, but he understood some basic rules within the team. To him, the young man’s behavior was tantamount to defection!
Sure enough, Zhang Xin’s face stiffened immediately upon hearing the young man’s words, but only for a moment before he smiled again, “Xiaozhao yearns for the outside world, hahahaha, for this sort of thing you should ask Brother Zhang. If he has no problem, I have no problem.”
Zhang Su waved his hand without any hesitation, shaking his head, “We don’t take people.”
Refusing people should be straightforward; the last thing you want is to drag things on!
The young man was a bit anxious after hearing Zhang Su’s decisive refusal, “Bro, I studied construction and know a lot about building. If you need to build defensive structures or anything, I can help!”
Zhang Su nodded as if it were a serious matter, “A very useful skill, you can make something of yourself at the Salvation Society, don’t follow us and risk your life out there!”
“But…”
“But what? They totally disregard you; can’t you see it?”
The guy with a knit cap gave the young man a not-so-gentle smack on the back of his head, his words carrying a chill.
Having been hit on the head, the young man immediately backed down, lowering his head and not daring to say more.
“Hahaha, let Brother Zhang have a good laugh.”
Zhang Xin’s smile was a bit forced.
Zhang Su waved his hand, obliquely saying, “That’s just the way the world is now. We’re off, take care.”
“Take care!”
Zhang Xin also waved to Zhang Su. As they got further and further away, the smile on his face gradually disappeared.
“Brother Su, I think that guy might get into trouble.”
Zheng Xinyu glanced back while pretending to look at her backpack, just in time to see someone rubbing the young man’s head, with a wicked grin on their face.
Zhang Su naturally knew who Zheng Xinyu was referring to and responded with certainty, “The best case is he gets marginalized, the worst case, he won’t survive the night, likely being used as cannon fodder.”
“Ah, that’s… that’s too tragic, isn’t it? After all, it’s a human life,” Tan Huajun asked in shock, unable to understand.
Awoooo.
Zhang Su and his group arrived at the security gate, where two zombies outside sensed the presence of living people. They immediately rushed to the gate baring their teeth and claws, causing the sturdy gate barriers to screech loudly.
Phwat, phwat!
Lu Yubo swiftly dispatched the two zombies with ease, laughing, “Sister Tan, you don’t understand this kind of ’big brother’ culture. Even before, guys like him who openly defected never had a good end, let alone now. Look, look over there!”
As directed by Lu Yubo, Zhang Su and the others turned to see the young man already being held up on both sides by two burly men, which made it easy to imagine how miserable his future would be.
“Honey, I will never betray you, please don’t kill me!”
Zheng Xinyu suddenly clung to Zhang Su’s arm, pretending to be pitiful and playful.
“You’re nuts! Are you out of your mind…”
Zhang Su knew she was trying to lighten the mood but was still a bit speechless.
Zhong Xiaoshan stood off to the side with an awkward smile; the rational and steady person she was couldn’t really pull off such antics.
“Ah… I’m so jealous of you, Brother Su, with your two ladies by your side, and both able to fight, you’re almost invincible. When will I have that kind of luck?”
Lu Yubo looked at Zhang Su and the others with envy.
“Weren’t you quite capable before, kid? Riding your Ghost Scooter with two or three delinquent girls cruising everywhere. Oh, speaking of which, I remember you still owe for two boxes of condoms you bought!”
Zhang Su side-eyed Lu Yubo, recalling a night in August when Lu Yubo brought two beauties to the convenience store to buy smokes and condoms. In the end, they couldn’t scrape together even a hundred bucks, and claimed they needed to save the money for a short-stay hotel and asked to put it on their tab…
“I, uh… I was strapped for cash back then, and later I just forgot, hehe. Guess I don’t have to pay it back now,”
Lu Yubo laughed carelessly.
Tan Huajun watched Lu Yubo with an expression of surprise; the world of young people was an eye-opener for her and simultaneously she started to worry about her daughter, who at fifteen or sixteen could easily be coaxed away by a young punk!
“You rascal.”
Zhang Su rolled his eyes helplessly, then shifted his gaze to the street outside the neighborhood.
As they had anticipated earlier, the explosion at the gas station had drawn in the majority of the nearby zombies. The street, apart from a mess of abandoned vehicles, was littered with bloodstains and scattered limbs. The roadside landscape trees had been broken and charred into charcoal, and even a breakfast cart hadn’t been spared, burnt to an empty shell.
