Chapter 108: Chapter 91: Surprises Keep Coming (End of 10,000 Words)
“This guy’s finally using his brain!”
Zhang Su watched Lu Yubo’s series of maneuvers from his spot against the wall, smiling knowingly.
“Too crazy, too insane…”
Kuang Miao watched Lu Yubo lead the zombies into the trap on the street, his lips trembling. He could easily put himself in Lu Yubo’s position, imagining being chased by hundreds of zombies, heart pounding with fear.
He sympathetically glanced at Pei Lan and Song Yijun, who were already in position near the trap, suddenly feeling that killing zombies with Zhang Su was much easier.
If Zhang Su knew Kuang Miao’s naive thoughts, he would definitely pour cold water on him, but now there was no time for that. He scanned the surroundings to gather information, suddenly asking, “Tell me, when we rush into the gas station later, what’s the most important thing?”
“Not making a sound!”
Everyone replied in unison.
Zhang Su nodded, “Right, except for the noise made from hitting zombies, no other sounds, and you definitely can’t scream. If you don’t want to die, keep your mouth shut! Be ready at all times. Once the zombies at the alley entrance move away with the horde, we’ll sneak in from the side!”
After saying that, he heard the creaking sound of weapons being gripped tightly by those beside him.
It’s impossible not to be nervous, anyone would feel fear, but now everyone needed to overcome it.
Time passed little by little, and as Lu Yubo moved, the entire zombie horde slowly advanced toward the trap. Finally, the zombies at the alley entrance and the gas station exit began to move.
“This isn’t good!”
Zhang Su suddenly frowned.
Some developments had strayed from the initial plan!
Because of Lu Yubo’s position forming an acute angle with the gas station, the zombies at the alley wouldn’t traditionally follow the tail of the zombie horde but instead headed straight toward Lu Yubo. In the process, they came as close as three to four meters from Zhang Su and his group!
This distance was almost brushing past, inevitably catching the zombies’ attention.
Zhang Su now faced two choices: either retreat immediately, avoiding the zombies’ path, or charge directly in, bringing the fight inside the gas station!
“Go…”
Almost instinctively, Zhang Su was about to lead a retreat, as it seemed safer, but just then, something even more unexpected happened.
Three figures suddenly darted out from the alley. Timing it perfectly, they slipped past the wall and into the gas station once the zombies moved away with the noise!
“Damn it!”
Before Zhang Su could take a step back, his mind went hot. He often took advantage of others, but he hadn’t expected someone to cut him off at such a critical moment!
The noise at the scene was too chaotic for his hearing advantage to work. Otherwise, this wouldn’t have happened. Most importantly, he always thought there were helmeted zombies blocking the alley, never expecting a few live humans to jump out.
“What do we do, Brother Su?”
Zheng Xinyu asked urgently.
“Charge, storm the gas station directly! We can’t let others reap the benefits. There are only thirteen zombies; even if there are more inside, we’ll charge into the restroom and block the door to fight!”
Zhang Su gritted his teeth, adjusted his arm guard, stood up, and ran forward.
No need for prompting, the remaining five naturally ran as fast as they could, afraid of falling behind.
In the apocalypse, you couldn’t afford to be weak, but neither could you be reckless. If the group had been thirteen instead of three, no matter how badly Zhang Su wanted those supplies, he wouldn’t have charged with everyone!
The six dashed along the wall, their breath and footsteps naturally catching the attention of more than a dozen zombies at the alley. After hesitating for a moment, most turned and pursued toward the gas station, while some continued toward “Wumeng Mountain.”
In thirty meters, it took just six or seven seconds for Zhang Su and his group to reach the gas station entrance. But as they rounded the wall and rushed inside, they were dumbfounded!
They assumed Lu Yubo’s risky maneuvering had drawn away the vast majority of zombies, but the reality wasn’t optimistic. At least a quarter of them remained in the gas station.
These zombies, perhaps just coming from behind the convenience store and losing their tracking target before catching up, were now wandering near the fuel pumps.
The three who had barged in earlier were mainly focused on avoiding zombie attacks and had already reached the convenience store’s entrance!
“Fight through!”
No way would Zhang Su let cooked ducks fly away. Unusually fierce, he said to Kuang Miao and Chen Hanzhou, “What they’re stealing from the store is yours. Show no mercy!”
If it weren’t for the alley trap still unsealed and zombies roaming near his van, he’d be jumping in and driving off now!
Kuang Miao and Chen Hanzhou wore expressions of extreme complexity, unable to think effectively, as Zhang Su and the others had already charged ahead, so they had no choice but to follow with weapons in hand.
Thud, thud, thud.
Zhang Su’s damaged axe hammer remained sturdy. After the initial wear, it seemed to reveal its true form, without signs of breaking. It even felt solid, easily cracking zombie skulls!
However, after they took down four or five zombies, the previous trio had already slipped into the convenience store, shutting the door behind them and immediately using shelves to block it, barricading against both zombies and Zhang Su’s group!
“To the back door! Quick!”
Zhang Su shouted, leading the group toward the restroom, where the zombies were noticeably fewer than at the front entrance.
