- Chapter 145 107: Pursued from the Front, Old Liu at the Rear

“Let’s go help too!”
Zhao Xue saw Zhang Su leading the charge toward the zombie horde through the car window. Her heart skipped a beat, and she opened the car door, ready to get out.
Wu Lue shook his head vigorously and said, “Sister Xue, you’re not in great condition right now. Going down there will just cause more trouble!”
Bang.
As Tan Huajun got in the car and started the engine, she said, “Sit tight, hey…”
Before she finished speaking, she saw the back door open, and Zhao Xue jumped out holding a short dagger.
“Oh my god, that girl… Xiaowu, hurry and get her back!”
While speaking, Tan Huajun started the car.
“I…”
Wu Lue saw a large group of zombies rushing toward him, and the only thought in his mind was to run.
But seeing Zhao Xue charging ahead, he thought he couldn’t back down either. Clenching his teeth, he pushed open the door and jumped out.
“Close the door, hey, close the car door properly…”
Tan Huajun was speechless. Wu Lue jumped out without closing the door, and she didn’t have time to get out and close it. So, she hit the gas and turned the car around, heading forward.
There were many zombies, but as long as they weren’t surrounded and could fight and retreat, there was still room to maneuver. If their stamina held up and there were no zombies cutting them off from behind, they could slowly kill all these zombies!
As long as the place was big enough and not slippery, it would be invincible.
Zhang Su charged ahead to confront them, swinging the brand-new machete in one stroke to decapitate a zombie rushing toward him. He couldn’t afford to pause since the surrounding zombies wouldn’t be scared by their companion’s head flying off.
Instead of stepping back, he kicked at the zombies closing in from the side and retreated, turning to see his comrades charging forward, and said, “Fight while retreating! Don’t get pinned down inside!”
“Got it!”
When four more reinforcements joined the battle, things came under a bit more control.
Chen Hanzhou wanted to dual-wield like Zhang Su, but lacking the strength, he couldn’t swing the fire axe with one hand. He had to switch back to the fire axe entirely, which ironically boosted his fighting effectiveness.
“Scale, gill, gut, I’ll kill you!”
Zhao Dezhu muttered to himself while swinging his fire axe. Unlike Chen Hanzhou, who had learned some martial arts, he relied solely on brute force, and his wide swings stopped the zombies in their tracks!
Yu Wen and Yu Qing worked in unison, lacking enough time to grab weapons; each assisted the other in stabbing zombie heads, coordinating perfectly.
Suddenly, Zhang Su noticed an unexpected figure in his peripheral vision.
He saw Zhao Xue joining Yu Family’s father-daughter duo, working with them to stab zombie heads…
“Zhao Xue!?”
Zhang Su was stunned. He chopped down a zombie with an axe, shouting in anger, “Who the hell told you to come here? Run, get to the car!”
Zhao Xue seemed oblivious, aware she bore Zhang Su’s mark and that joining the survivor team was largely due to him. Therefore, she must prove herself and not embarrass Zhang Su!
Clenching her lips, she stayed close to Yu Wen, mimicking his movements to dodge attacks. The fear she once felt was stamped out during the battle with Yi Rewen, leaving only calmness.
“I’m here too, Brother Su!”
Wu Lue rushed to Zhang Su’s side, learning to kick away the zombies lunging at him.
“Damn it, you two… alright, just be careful!”
Zhang Su wasn’t sure how recovered Zhao Xue was. If she suddenly collapsed and couldn’t move, these zombies would feasting on her on the spot.
Owoooo.
The zombie howls overwhelmed everything. Although only about a hundred zombies, it felt endless, as if they could never be fully killed. Bodies lay on the ground, yet more zombies quickly filled the gaps, attack after attack.
Like the products in a vending machine, one packet falls, and another pushes forward…
“Retreat, retreat, Brother Su!”
Zhang Su, struggling to hold the zombies back, suddenly heard Lu Yubo calling out while knocking on a car door.
He turned his head to see all four cars parked safely in the distance, the drivers waving urgently.
“Run…”
“Oh no…”
But just as Zhang Su ordered the retreat, a cry of alarm came as Yu Wen fell to the ground.
After all, he was a man of fifty-seven or fifty-eight, and while backing away, he stumbled and fell on his back.
“Ah… Qingqing, run!”
In that moment, zombies pounced at Yu Wen’s feet, making him kick and thrash in panic.
“Dad!”
Yu Qing cried out in fear, unsure whether to pull her father up or continue fighting the zombies, as they closed in on them.
“You save Teacher Yu; I’ll…”
“Get lost, just run!”
Before Zhao Xue could finish speaking, she felt someone hoist her up and toss her backward. She nearly levitated, instantly knowing who had intervened.
“Sister Xue…” Wu Lue caught Zhao Xue quickly.
“You all, hurry and go!”
Zhang Su gave Wu Lue a glare, then pushed Yu Qing a good distance toward the cars. Meanwhile, he yanked Yu Wen by the collar, slicing off the arm of the zombie grabbing Yu Wen’s shoe.
“Brother, Old Yu, are you okay?”
At that moment, Chen Hanzhou and Zhao Dezhu returned to help fend off the zombies for a short while, giving Yu Wen crucial time to stand up.
“My dagger!”
Once Yu Wen was back on his feet, he realized his dagger was lying on the ground somewhere!
“Forget it, just run!”
Zhang Su pulled Yu Wen by the arm, and they bolted away.
Zhao Xue and the others didn’t make it too far before seeing the main fighters running towards them, finally feeling relieved as they sprinted to the parked cars hundreds of meters away.
“Hurry, hurry up!”
Zheng Xinyu was panicking, nearly biting her lip, wanting to rush down to help. But at such a time, the only way to help was to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice!
Lu Yubo, relying on his speed, jumped out of the car with a dagger in one hand and a food sampler in the other, walking a dozen meters towards Zhang Su’s group, ready to rush in if necessary.
Tan Huajun gripped her crossbow tightly, her plump face full of tension, knowing she might only get one shot, but also knowing that one shot could save a life!
Zhong Xiaoshan was the calmest, checking the car doors to ensure their comrades could get in quickly.
Zhang Su was naturally the fastest, yet he didn’t run ahead, waving to the others to speed up every now and then.
“Hurry, um? Damn!”
However, when Zhang Su looked back towards the car, he was taken aback.
Four cars were staggered at the intersection, and just then, four suspicious figures rushed out from the corner of a bank, heading straight for the vehicles!
He could see it was three men and one woman, each with homemade weapons, clearly intending to hijack the cars.
