Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person - Chapter 70 - 65: Two Choices for You

Chapter 70: Chapter 65: Two Choices for You
“There are zombies!”
With the view zoomed in, Zhang Su saw seven or eight zombies wandering aimlessly inside the gas station. A few zombies closer to the road had already noticed his van, but he couldn’t see the situation inside the convenience store clearly.
Thud!
Without any hesitation, Zhang Su adjusted the steering direction, dodged the pouncing zombies, and then accelerated into the gas station like a tiger entering a flock of sheep. He kept adjusting his direction, using the side corners of the bumper to hit the zombies inside the gas station!
Thud, thud, thud…
Even though his maneuvering was tricky, the bumper of the van was too fragile. In no time, it completely shattered and fell off, but most of the zombies in the gas station were knocked down and were rolling on the ground.
The sound of tires screeching to a halt was heard.
The Haranda drove into the parking lot, followed closely by the Q5.
Seeing the two cars stop, Zhang Su sighed. If the Haranda and Q5 were more clever and directly ran over the zombies struggling on the ground, they could have saved a lot of effort.
He wanted to roll down the window and shout, but the door of the Haranda had already opened. Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan jumped out of the car with weapons, heading straight for the zombies on the ground, while Wang Guangjun was a tad slower due to his two seatbelts.
Unable to continue driving, Zhang Su slammed on the brakes, grabbed his weapon, and jumped out of the car as well. He glanced into the distance; the nearest zombie was about thirty meters away, making it difficult to attract them. He quickly stepped aside and headed towards the Q5.
“You take care of the zombies, and next time remember to just run them over!”
Zhang Su yelled to Zheng Xinyu and the others, then rushed to the Q5 and kicked at the car door, beckoning to the couple in the front seats with his finger to get out!
“Big…big, big brother, we don’t mean any harm, no harm at all…”
The car door opened, and a man about twenty-four or twenty-five years old got out, followed by a woman of the same age from the passenger side.
Zhang Su clenched a small axe tightly, scrutinizing the man and woman. Their thin clothes were dirty and wrinkled, describing them as disheveled would be no exaggeration. He sniffed, and a stench wafted from the car.
Assuming he wasn’t mistaken, these two were probably trapped in the car since the beginning of the zombie outbreak, having no idea how they spent their week inside…
“There’s no one else, big brother. It’s just me, only me and my girlfriend in the car!”
The man, who had a delicate appearance and wore glasses, saw Zhang Su frowning at the back seat of the car. Knowing what Zhang Su was looking for, he quickly answered, unconsciously glancing at the few who were dealing with the zombies. His lips trembled, and his face twitched.
Zhang Su glanced at Zheng Xinyu and the others. The overturned zombies posed no threat, and soon they had taken care of most of them, leaving only two crawling along with half-disabled bodies, nearing death.
“All of you squat down and don’t try any tricks. Now tell me, why were you following us?”
Zhang Su waved his axe hammer at the woman, frightening her into quickly squatting beside the man, her face full of terror.
The two squatted by the wheels, the man looking up at Zhang Su with a wretched expression, “Big brother, I…I was escaping for my life, following you to escape…”
“You sure know how to think, following me to escape for your life. Damn it, look at what happened to my van, and then look at my companions’ cars. You’re pretty damn comfortable, aren’t you?”
Zhang Su hated two kinds of people: one, those who took advantage of him, and two, those who didn’t let him take advantage of them…
The squatting couple fulfilled both criteria!
“I…I, big brother, I know I was wrong. Please don’t get mad; we’re all neighbors…no, we’re all humans. Let’s talk this over. If you have any instructions, I won’t refuse them.”
The man clasped his hands together, shaking them earnestly, his face sincere. The woman beside him also nodded in agreement.
“You won’t refuse any instructions, eh?” Zhang Su nodded, pointing at the zombies on the street outside the parking lot, “Go clean up outside.”
“Huh?”
Upon hearing this, the man’s legs went weak. If not for leaning against the car hood, he would have fallen to the ground. He waved his hands repeatedly, “No, no way, big brother, those things are too scary. A single touch infects you. No way, can’t do it.”
Zheng Xinyu frowned at the cowardly man, pouting, “Touch and get infected? There’s even damn droplet transmission, what nonsense!”
“Really! My girlfriend and I saw it with our own eyes,”
The man explained, eyes wide open, “On the morning of the zombie virus outbreak, my girlfriend and I were in the underground parking lot. We saw someone turn into a zombie within five minutes after being scratched, such potent virus!”
Zhang Su and the others exchanged glances. They had suspected that getting scratched would lead to infection. Hearing an eyewitness account, they were more convinced, though surprised by the speed of transformation. However, this person’s story required verification.
“I don’t want to waste words with you two, you’ve got two options: take out those five zombies over there and then drive out, or leave now, but the car stays.”
Zhang Su said bluntly.
“This…you’re robbing us, it’s murder, how can you do this, aren’t you afraid of being held accountable by the law in the future?”
The man said with a mournful face.
“Oh, still talking about the law? Do you know how law comes about? Civilization comes first, and then a judicial system gets established gradually. Now with human civilization collapsed, you want to talk law with me? Are you out of your mind?”
Zhang Su looked at the man, speechless. He had adjusted his mindset from day one, thanks mainly to Zheng Xinyu’s WeChat group messages.
With a worldwide catastrophe and systematic breakdowns, survival had become paramount.
“Human civilization collapsed?”
The couple looked at each other in disbelief, clearly unaware of how severe the situation outside was.
“Big brother, do you know anything, how widespread is this disaster, has all of Qin City suffered, or is it Ji Province…”
“Why do you have so much nonsense to say? What business is it of yours whether it’s Qin City or Ji Province, hurry up and choose, or you won’t even be able to leave the gas station!”
Zhang Su twisted his wrist, the dirt-covered axe in his hand looked quite intimidating.
“Please, sir, uncle, save us, we’re starving and thirsty. We can’t even think about killing zombies, we can barely run a few steps, how about giving us some food first, we’ll have the strength to kill zombies afterward, please.”
Seeing Zhang Su’s ferocious demeanor, the man quickly turned to the gentler-looking middle-aged man behind him.
Wang Guangjun saw the two squatting pitifully and felt a twinge of sympathy, but he knew his position, quickly turning his head to Zhang Su, “I’m like you, I followed this brother to escape, can’t make any decisions!”
The man’s heart sank, having thought this man was an elder to them, only to discover the true nature of their relationship.
