Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person - Chapter 79 - 74: Huang Mao

Chapter 79: Chapter 74: Huang Mao
Zhang Su and the others stood aside, exchanging strange smiles as they watched Wang Guangjun and Tan Huajun reluctantly part from each other.
“Ahem, Old Wang, how old are you this year? And what about your wife?”
Zhang Su asked abruptly.
“Did I never mention it?” Wang Guangjun scratched his head and said, “I’m forty-six this year and I’ve been divorced for over ten years.”
“Divorced…” Zhang Su didn’t bother asking why they divorced, simply pointing at Tan Huajun, “Technician Tan doesn’t have a husband, and you don’t have a wife, so why not pair up?”
“Bro, you’re…”
Tan Huajun’s face instantly flushed red.
“Hey, Brother Zhang, don’t talk nonsense!”
Wang Guangjun was also embarrassed, immediately feeling a bit too self-conscious to look at Tan Huajun.
“It’s the apocalypse, live for the moment, every day could be your last. If you have thoughts, don’t keep them to yourself… hmm?”
As he was speaking, Zhang Su suddenly became serious, squatting down swiftly and signaling everyone to do the same.
“A car’s coming!”
Zhang Su’s face turned solemn as he looked towards the source of the sound.
Everyone was astonished, and it was completely quiet. After about two seconds, the sound of a car engine indeed started up.
“Old Wang and I will hide first; if they come here, you all test them out!”
Zhang Su made a plan.
“Testing… testing what? Hey, don’t go.”
Zheng Xinyu watched as Zhang Su and Wang Guangjun scurried towards the staff office, quickly whispering to stop them.
“No matter who they are, just tell them someone’s already here, and see how they react.’”
After speaking, Zhang Su quickly hid behind the door.
“Oh God, what should we do if robbers come?”
Tan Huajun felt a bit weak, automatically imagining robbers as fierce as Zhang Su.
Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan were much calmer, each picking up a weapon and finding a good spot to sneak a peek outside.
Zhong Xiaoshan calmly said, “Sister Tan, don’t worry, no matter who they are, they won’t strike us down immediately, they’re here!”
While speaking, an H6 drove into the gas station, braking sharply before a young man in a windbreaker leaped from the driver’s seat.
After jumping out of the car, the windbreaker man first retrieved a machete from the vehicle, nervously glanced back down the road, and upon seeing no zombies, ran quickly to the passenger side to help a man with an injured leg down.
“Brother Shuo, there aren’t any zombies or people here; it’s a good place to rest for a bit!”
The windbreaker man wore a face of excitement.
Brother Shuo, limping with difficulty as he moved forward, exclaimed, “It’s like the pot was flipped over in a ditch, damn it!”
Thunk.
As they spoke, the windbreaker man kicked open the convenience store glass door and had just taken two steps inside before freezing in place.
“There are already people here, you should leave!”
Zheng Xinyu said sternly to the two men, holding a baseball bat firmly, her eyes steady without a hint of panic, showcasing her stubborn spirit to the fullest.
“Bullshit, just because you say there are people, there are? My brother is injured and needs to recover here, so you better get out!”
The windbreaker man had a streak of yellow in his hair, looking like trouble. Seeing the three women still acting so assertively, anger surged through him.
“You little bitches, who do you think you are, daring to talk shit to me? Bring out all the first aid supplies for external injuries, quickly!”
Brother Shuo, with a buzz cut and a grim face, probably because of the pain, was sweating despite the cold weather.
In the past, Zheng Xinyu would have certainly avoided such people, but now she wasn’t scared at all; she’s already dealt with zombies, so why be afraid of ordinary humans?
“Think you’re tough just because you have a knife? If you’re so capable, go kill zombies, what’s the point of being harsh to us women? Wait a minute… I wonder, is this bald guy bitten by a zombie?”
Zheng Xinyu’s eyes fell on the man’s leg wound, perceiving that his pants seemed torn as if bitten.
“I got this, Brother Shuo!”
The windbreaker guy couldn’t stand it any longer, letting go of his companion and pointing the machete at Zheng Xinyu.
“Damn it, did I give you face just now, brandishing a baseball bat to scare… huh? Where’d you get that bat? Brother Shuo, look at her bat!”
Brother Shuo turned his gaze to the bat in Zheng Xinyu’s hands, frowning, “Where’d you pick up that baseball bat?”
Zheng Xinyu curiously looked at her baseball bat, confused about what was attracting the attention of these two ruffians, shaking her head as she replied, “I don’t know what you guys are talking about, I asked you a question, did a zombie bite you?”
“Brother Shuo, look at that car!”
Unexpectedly, the two men ignored Zheng Xinyu’s words, and the windbreaker man pointed in surprise at the van parked beside the gas pump.
“Damn, Xiaoshuo, Bozai, your Brother Dong is quite the gentleman, even drunk at the KTV, he’d never curse at the hostesses, what have you two been learning from him?”
Right then, a voice came from inside the staff office door, followed by Zhang Su and Wang Guangjun walking out.
“Damn, Brother Su! It’s really you!”
The windbreaker guy, who had previously been so aggressive, suddenly looked at Zhang Su with joy.
???
Zheng Xinyu and the others suddenly had a series of question marks above their heads, shocked that Zhang Su actually knew these two thugs and seemed to command quite a bit of respect from them.
“I thought the lightning symbol on the bat looked familiar, so it’s Brother Su’s stuff, haha.”
The man called Xiaoshuo by Zhang Su forced a smile, unable to hold it together, he sank down against the display case to the ground.
“Bozai, what’s wrong with Xiaoshuo?”
Zhang Su asked as he approached.
He knew both of them; young thugs in their twenties from the billiards hall and KTV, usually not very proper, but they had decent jobs supporting themselves.
“Brother Su…” Lu Yubo said with a tearful face, “Please help Brother Shuo, he, he was…”
“Bitten by a zombie, damn it, just had terrible luck, Brother Su, I know getting bitten means infection, but I refuse to believe it, I can make it through!”
Xiaoshuo said through gritted teeth, anger causing veins to bulge on his forehead.
Zhang Su gently lifted Qiu Shuo’s torn pant leg, revealing a shallow bite mark. Although not deep, it had ripped the flesh, with the low temperature coagulating the blood around the wound, but the darkened wound appeared troubling.
Qiu Shuo saw Zhang Su remain silent and gave a bitter smile, “Brother Su, I know it’s dangerous. You can tie me up later, and if I turn, just end me!”
“Brother Su, please help Brother Shuo…” Lu Yubo pleaded by his side.
“Let’s do what we can and leave the rest to fate!”
Zhang Su sighed quietly, turning to Tan Huajun, “Old Tan, there should be an emergency medical kit at the gas station, right?”
“Yes, there is!”
Tan Huajun nodded repeatedly and quickly turned towards the office to run over.
