Aspiring to the Immortal Path - Chapter 1147: Giving Chase

Caring nothing for what his enemies thought, Tang Jie barged into the battlefield and then brutally tore apart a Fiend God.
Even though the Fiend God immediately revived, the pain of being torn apart and Tang Jie’s domineering attitude still placed a heavy burden on this Fiend God’s mind. It was so severe that when it looked at Tang Jie, it trembled in fear and couldn’t attack with all its power.
Tang Jie sneered in contempt at these “feeble” attacks. “Put some strength into it, you cockroaches.”
In a burst of flames, that blazing giant once more swung its hand at the four Fiend Gods.
The Fiend Gods didn’t dare to take on this attack infused with the Eternal Flame, or else they would also be cursed by it. The Fiend God from before had only been so easily slain because it focused all of its power on the Eternal Flame. The Fiend God was more willing to be killed once and reform its body than be cursed by the Eternal Flame. The torment of this flame on the Divine Soul was enough to make any Fiend God prefer death.
As that giant flaming hand came down, all four Fiend Gods attacked in unison.
“Stomp the Sea and Obliterate the Sun!”
“Thousand Waves Suppress the Mountains!”
“Five Rivers Star Catcher!”
“Four Seas Fist!”The Fiend Gods of the sea all had Divine Connections linked to water, and their attacks all had the energy of mighty rivers and raging oceans.
The four Fiend Gods all attacking at once raised the surface of the ocean by a full one thousand meters, the waters rising so high that it seemed like the ocean had replaced the sky.
But the violent waves failed to extinguish the Eternal Flame.
The blazing giant’s palm came down, fire and water clashing in a massive cloud of steam. Thanks to this inextinguishable flame, Tang Jie was a natural counter to the four Fiend Gods, all of their attacks a little weaker against him.
Of course, this wasn’t enough to completely block the combined attacks of the four Fiend Gods. After all, these were Fiend Gods. But Tang Jie wasn’t fighting alone.
The Sea Reversing Formation was still functioning, and Fairy Gu Ye was unleashing gale after gale. These gales seemed gentle, but they were suffused with the power of Space and shredded anything that they passed through.
Thanks to Fairy Gu Ye and the formation, Tang Jie was able to fight without inhibitions, and the laughter of that blazing giant resounded through the heavens.
Suddenly, Tang Jie grabbed one of the Fiend Gods.
Even though that Fiend God blasted Tang Jie with attacks, Tang Jie endured it all as if it was nothing, savagely smiling. “Die!”
He clenched, seeking to crush the Fiend God in his hand.
A giant black phantom emerged from the back of the Fiend God’s head, taking the form of an enormous whale shark. Bellowing at Tang Jie, it said, “You’re the one who’s going to die! Celestial Sea Swallower!”
Tang Jie punched back, energy fist and shark phantom colliding in a tremendous shockwave.
The Fiend God seized this chance to escape Tang Jie’s palm.
“You’re not going anywhere!” Tang Jie bellowed, once more punching at the Fiend God.
Star Shattering Punch!
This thirteenth strike of the Combat Emperor Catalog combined its tyrannical might with the Eternal Flame. The Fiend God instantly died, and when it was reborn, it found that embers had appeared on its body.
“The Eternal Flame!” the Fiend God said in alarm.
It had been contaminated by the Eternal Flame.
“Hahaha, don’t worry. You’re going to die soon anyway!” Tang Jie charged in with a laugh, slapping at the Fiend God as he would a mosquito.
The other three Fiend Gods were awed by this display of power, and they finally realized that this was not an easy opponent to deal with. Even Fairy Gu Ye was startled at how much stronger he had become.
If the Ice Dragon Emperor were still alive, they might have fought to the end, but in these dire circumstances, they immediately wanted to retreat. Since they were all Gods, able to go wherever in the cosmos they wanted, why did they have to die in the Divine Spring Domain?
These fiends had none of the patriotism of humans, thinking of escape the moment they encountered trouble. This was perhaps exactly why they insisted on fighting internally despite knowing that the Rosecloud Domain was coming. From the very start, they had no concept of defending their home to the death.
The four Fiend Gods scattered in different directions.
“Trying to run?” Fairy Gu Ye sneered and instantly set off in pursuit of one of the Fiend Gods.
Horizon Ocean Pavilion had always been known for its speed and proficiency in the Dao of Space, so trying to escape in front of her was simply delusional.
But there was only one Fairy Gu Ye, so the other three Fiend Gods were not as easy to stop.
The Sea Reversing Formation was for defending, not attacking, so it was incredible when the four Fiend Gods were trying to break through but now useless since they were trying to run. Tang Jie had no choice but to call back the Five Elementals, who immediately fell into slumber from all the essence they had consumed.
Tang Jie was unable to use the snow doll’s water movement ability, so he had to chase after one Fiend God himself. The remaining two were not his business.
But that didn’t mean that they would be able to easily escape.
Two streaks of light were approaching this location, and they split off to intercept the two Fiend Gods.
“Scram!” One Fiend God, whose original form was a giant octopus, sent out hundreds of tentacles at its opponent.
“Telling me to scram? The nerve!” Huang Wuji barked as the Measure Heaven Ruler flashed.
While the Divine Spring Domain had many Fiend Gods, there were few divine treasures. Unlike humans, fiends lacked a talent for creation, so even once they gained intelligence at Mind Opening, they were still influenced by their wild nature, and there was an even greater lack of species intelligence. Thus, when they did make things, very few reached the level of a divine treasure.
Once the humans of the Divine Spring Domain were rendered almost extinct, the domain became a desert of creativity, far inferior to the situation in the Verdant Cloud Domain or Blood River Domain. This was fine when there were no powerful enemies, but once one appeared, the lack of treasures instantly became apparent.
Whether it was Tang Jie, Fairy Gu Ye, or Huang Wuji, they all had plenty of treasures, and as they used them, they lit up the heavens with their divine might.
The octopus Fiend God’s tentacles were stopped cold by the Measure Heaven Ruler.
Huang Wuji swung the ruler with abandon.
The Measure Heaven Ruler’s Dao was Space, able to measure a world with a ruler that was only a foot long. Thus, it essentially had the ability to ignore distance.
Huang Wuji swung the ruler left and right, and the octopus Fiend God fought it impossible to dodge no matter where it moved, the ruler cracking open its flesh. Even barriers were useless, for the Measure Heaven Ruler simply passed through them to keep attacking. Only body-strengthening abilities worked against it.
And that wasn’t all. The Measure Heaven Ruler was a pseudo–Dao armament, and the ability to ignore distance was only its Dao armament attribute. Its basis was a divine treasure, which had its own abilities.
This treasure was called the Cloudbreaker Ruler. Clouds were ethereal objects, and the ruler had the ability to attack ethereal things. Thus, it had a certain effect on Divine Souls.
Thus, the octopus Fiend God was flayed not only in the flesh but the soul as well. Thankfully, this was only a flaying on the divine treasure level, so it could endure it.
However, being constantly beaten like this, even if the attacks were akin to those of flies, would eventually bring anyone down.
The Fiend God bellowed and tried to break out, but Huang Wuji snorted, “Immeasurable Earth!”
The Fiend God felt the air abruptly grow heavy, as if it was flying through mud, and its speed became extremely slow.
Huang Wuji didn’t have Fairy Gu Ye’s speed, but he was very good at limiting the speed of others.
His style was to drag his opponent down to his level and beat them with experience.
On the other end, the last Fiend God was fleeing.
This was a turtle Fiend God.
Despite being a turtle, it wasn’t slow at all, a single stroke from its four limbs covering a vast distance.
As it flew across the sky, thinking that it had barely avoided disaster, a human figure appeared in the distance.
The turtle fiend was alarmed at first, but once it saw what it was, it sneered, “I thought that someone had come to stop me, but it was just a puppet.”
Yes, the thing approaching was a puppet.
This puppet had a golden luster, motes of starlight twinkling all across its body. Its stony face was completely emotionless as it strode through the air toward the turtle.
The turtle knew that this was no ordinary puppet, but rather than fear, its eyes glinted with greed. “Mother Cloud Essence Metal, Heaven Blackstone, Thundervein Wood…”
The turtle seemed to be quite sharp, immediately identifying several kinds of materials in the puppet. Laughing, it reached for the puppet. “All these pretties will be mine once I take you!”
The Mother Cloud combat puppet simply watched as the turtle reached for it, and then it raised its right palm, a hole spiraling open in the center of it.
A white light blasted out of the hole with a thunderous boom, striking the turtle’s outstretched limb.
With a cry, the turtle’s arm was obliterated, and the remaining energy in the blast continued into the ground, where it created a fissure a hundred kilometers in length.
With one strike, a new canyon had been carved into the world.
“Awwooo! What is this? What is this?” The turtle looked at the puppet in disbelief.
“A creation of my master, the Star Destroyer Cross Cannon,” the combat puppet coldly said.
“‘The Star Destroyer Cross Cannon’? What in the world is that?” The turtle was baffled.
It had no idea that this was just Tang Jie’s hobby. In his former world, there were many inventions that had left a deep impression on Tang Jie, but most of them he couldn’t recreate. There were some, however, that he could recreate in another way using this world’s laws.
Tang Jie didn’t mind trying.
As his only creation, the Mother Cloud combat puppet served as the medium for all his old memories and dreams. In the past, Tang Jie had lacked the resources to experiment, but as he reaped more and more profits from his adventures, he began to slowly realize his ideals.
It was only natural for the puppet to end up with technologies completely unknown to the Great Stellar Chiliocosm, and the Star Destroyer Cross Cannon was only one of them. As this was the first battle after its modifications, the puppet planned to use this battle to test its strength.
A moment later, one of the puppet’s eyes flashed, and it muttered, “Starting combat recording for the first time…”
