Aspiring to the Immortal Path - Chapter 1177: Brave Charge (1)

The skyborne demon waved its four thick arms, streams of black energy surging out and attempting to wrap around Tang Jie like chains.
This black energy was refined from demonic energy, and while it had yet to reach the level of Primordial Fog violet energy, it was already extremely corrosive. This was also one of the methods commonly employed by Primordial Fog demons and was one of the things that made them so powerful.
As the streams of energy coiled around, the devil laughed, “The battle hasn’t even started and we’ve already got someone throwing himself at us. The merit for this battle will belong to me: Mapanto!”
Tang Jie cocked his head and examined the black chains, muttering, “Not bad.”
He thrust out a finger. “Go!”
Tendrils of white smoke emerged from the fingertip, transforming into white chains to meet the black chains.
Tang Jie chose not to use anything stronger, ensuring equilibrium on the battlefield. But despite the devil doing everything it could, it failed to break through Tang Jie’s defenses.
Meanwhile, True Lord Qian Tian was battling on the road back—he really was trying to return, but he had to deal with an endless horde of demons to do so. For Tang Jie, the low-level demons were too weak for their vast numbers to make up the gap, but to a Violet Palace True Lord, the likes of Red Bats and Ironbones could prove a problem, Silver Pyros were a threat, and Shadow Nagas were cause for despair.
Fortunately, they were on the outer edge, and the likes of Shadow Nagas didn’t appear, and even the Silver Pyros were few in number. Even so, the horde of Red Bats with their suicidal attacks and the bone spears fired by the Ironbones gave him a huge headache. With the ability to thoughtcast, True Lord Qian Tian was still able to defend himself, but he was barely able to keep up with the tens of thousands of attacks coming his way every second.
His spiritual energy was being rapidly consumed while the enemies continued to charge, and True Lord Qian Tian started to despair. At this moment, Tang Jie’s voice rang out in his ear. “I have long heard of True Lord Qian Tian’s Sun Devourer Dragon Stamp. You are in need of a powerful attack to open a path through the demon army, so why do you still not use it?”
Qian Tian silently cursed as he replied, “The Dragon Stamp truly is powerful, but it consumes a great deal of energy. Your subordinate does not have the cultivation to sustain it until I break through.”
Tang Jie said, “Why don’t you try? How can you know if you don’t try?”
Qian Tian was speechless with anger. ‘Try’ my ass! You think I don’t know my own art?
But he didn’t dare to argue, simply saying, “As you command!”
He immediately formed the proper hand signs, upon which a majestic energy shot into the air, forming into a square coiling dragon stamp the size of a small mountain. Atop it was a dragon with its head raised upward as if it wanted to devour the sun, hence the name of the art.
The Sun Devouring Dragon Stamp slammed down, and at the same time, the thousands of Ironbones in the area raised their bone shields in unison, manifesting a mountain of iron against the stamp. A draconic roar resounded through the heavens as the stamp gave off a searing light, upon which the Ironbones’ iron mountain melted away like it was made of ice, and as the mountain shattered, the connection between the Ironbones was severed. The stamp crashed down in a massive shockwave, and the Ironbones, now bereft of their formation, were instantly wiped out.
This one strike had Qian Tian’s forehead caked in sweat and greatly drained him of energy. As he was about to say that he was at his limit, Tang Jie said, “Good job! True Lord’s Divine Connection is mighty as expected. Continue!”
‘Continue’, my ass!
Qian Tian inwardly groaned, but then he felt energy flowing into him, instantly restoring all that he had lost.
This was…
True Lord Qian Tian was both surprised and elated. Turning to Tang Jie, he saw that Tang Jie was still locked in battle with the four-armed devil and apparently unconcerned about him. Realizing something, he excitedly said, “Alright, eat another one of my stamps!”
Boom!
The Sun Devouring Dragon Stamp rose again, and fell again. One stamp after another inflicted devastating losses on the demons.
This sight naturally drew the attention of the devils, and one of them flew over and swung a saber at True Lord Qian Tian, a black wave of saber energy sweeping toward him. True Lord Qian Tian returned with a Dragon Stamp, and the two clashed in a resplendent explosion of light, after which shockwaves spread out in opposite directions.
This exchange had been a draw.
True Lord Qian Tian and the devil once more attacked, still with that sky-cleaving saber energy and world-crushing stamp. Once more did they blind the world, and once more did they draw, neither able to get the upper hand while numerous demons in the area died from the aftershocks.
From this, one could see that the devil was still stronger. True Lord Qian Tian was using his strongest Divine Connection and could still only achieve a draw. If Tang Jie hadn’t been secretly supporting him with energy, he would have reached his limits long ago, but thanks to that support from the shadows, True Lord Qian Tian could unleash Dragon Stamp after Dragon Stamp as if it was an everyday spell.
At first, that devil was able to hold on, proving that it was a formidable character by the fact that it was able to last so long against such a powerful Divine Connection. But True Lord Qian Tian was able to use the Sun Devouring Dragon Stamp so many times that it seemed like he was cheating, and as the devil began to tire out, it grimaced and said, “How could this be? How is this possible?”
“Nothing is impossible! Why can’t a human like me be a match for a devil like you? You’re clearly the weaker one here, so blame yourself, not the heavens!” True Lord Qian Tian roared.
With Tang Jie secretly backing him up, he decided to go all-out and vent all his emotions. These devils were always looking to cause trouble in the positive plane, so they deserved execution. As he used the Divine Connection over and over, he gradually began to understand many principles that had previously escaped him, and these enlightenments made him even stronger, causing the Dragon Stamp to come down with even greater force.
Unable to endure anymore, the devil yelped and began to retreat. Meanwhile, seven streams of energy locked onto Qian Tian and began to converge—devils were happy to duel enemies when they were certain that they could win so as to prove their own martial prowess, but once things went poorly, they would all charge into the fray. Duels were simply means of showing off, but other concerns like glory and honor were all nonsense. If they couldn’t prove their power, they might as well prove they were shameless.
True Lord Qian Tian was immersed in the battle.
When everything was going one’s way, one tended to gain unprecedented courage, so as the devils converged on him, he shouted, “You lowly scoundrels, get out of my way!”
A majestic gale instantly swept up the seven devils, sending them flying. At the same time, True Lord Qian Tian unleashed a Dragon Stamp at the fleeing devil, and with a wail, the devil was slain on the spot.
This action infuriated the devils, and even more of them appeared in the sky.
True Lord Qian Tian was bursting with confidence at this point, bellowing, “All of you, come at me! I’ll cut you all down from your horses today!”
There were no horses today, but this didn’t stop him from acting like he was a general on the battlefield.
Alas, Tang Jie came in to ruin the mood, reminding him, “Hey, weren’t you going back? You’re going in the wrong direction. That way, that way!”
Tang Jie pointed behind him.
True Lord Qian Tian had been so caught up in chasing the devils that he had started moving in the direction of the demon camp.
True Lord Qian Tian said without looking back, “It’s fine. Let me kill a few more of them!”
It seemed like he still wasn’t finished.
Tang Jie had no choice but to cut off the flow of energy. It just so happened that True Lord Qian Tian had unleashed another Sun Devouring Dragon Stamp, pushing back the devils, upon which he discovered that his energy wasn’t recovering.
That seemingly neverending spring of energy had run out!
Qian Tian turned his head in shock.
Tang Jie coolly said, “You might want to stay, but I want to go.”
He flew away, that four-armed devil giving chase while yelling at him to not run away.
It seemed like the devil had won.
Qian Tian didn’t understand what was going on, but he finally remembered his cultivation, remembered his source of energy. As he looked at the devils, he once more experienced the terror that they inspired, and with a shiver, he came to his senses and turned to run.
The energy flow was restored, and he once more threw out a Dragon Stamp, but this time, it was to clear the demons blocking his retreat.
Fighting his way out of the encirclement!
Behind them, the four-armed devil and ten-some other devils gave chase, but Tang Jie easily blocked their attacks.
“You think you can come and go as you please? That it’s just that easy?”
The four-armed devil raised all of its arms at once, and a giant black lightning bolt shot through the sky toward Tang Jie.
This black lightning bolt was suffused with destructive power, but Tang Jie simply glanced up at it and snorted. “It really is that easy. What are you going to do about it?”
With a swing of his fist, the black lightning bolt disappeared.
The power of his punch continued onward, striking the four-armed devil and blasting it to pieces.
“Awooo!” The devil let out a cry of pain as its body reformed, but this time, it was even larger, three thousand feet in height. It bellowed, “You were hiding your strength this whole time!?”
“Duh!” Tang Jie attacked again, this time thrusting out his palm in conjunction with Qian Tian’s Dragon Stamp.
The massive shockwave of energy swept aside all the demons in their path, sending Red Bats and Silver Pyros to oblivion. Tang Jie then gave Qian Tian a slap, upon which the pair accelerated out of the area. The demons were too slow to react and could only watch as they ran.
“You’re not going anywhere,” a voice sinisterly said, and a giant black hand appeared in the sky, swatting at the pair.
“You want to give me your hand as a farewell gift?” Tang Jie chuckled. “Alright, I’ll take it!”
He swung his right hand, and there was a golden flash of light.
“Aaaagh!!” A scream tore through the heavens.
Black blood rained down over the earth!
