Aspiring to the Immortal Path - Chapter 1276: Going In

With a massive boom, the Heavenly Dao Labyrinth exploded, sending out chaotic streams of energy. Coincidentally, at the same time, the crack in the labyrinth was fully opened.
The energy torrents had nowhere to go except the crack.
The Three Sages Ancestor finally knew what would happen when the Heavenly Dao Labyrinth was destroyed: the crack to the forbidden land would still exist, even widen, but because of the fierce spatial storm now surrounding it, it was no longer so easily accessed.
But most importantly, because of the spatial storm, the crack would not persist for long.
Seeing this, Yu Cheng immediately turned into a bolt of lightning and flew toward the crack.
Immortal Ji Yao, the Three Sages Ancestor, Wang Yao, Godhead Guangfa, and Wu Antian all attacked him while making for the crack themselves.
None of these people knew what was behind the fissure, but since Yu Cheng was desperate to get in, since it was the place where one could surpass the Heavenly Dao, they naturally didn’t want to miss out on it. As for the spatial storm, it essentially didn’t exist in their eyes.
Yu Cheng erupted with golden light, turning himself into a miniature sun as he resisted the concerted attack of Immortals and devils and neared the crack.
“Stop him!” Immortal Ji Yao shouted at Tang Jie.
He was the only one capable of doing so at this time.
Just as Tang Jie was about to, he suddenly had an idea which made him act a little too slowly.
The blast from his fist brushed past Yu Cheng’s back, and he could only watch as Yu Cheng charged into the crack.
“NO!” Immortal Ji Yao yelled in fury.
Seeing Yu Cheng disappear into the crack, Immortal Ji Yao left behind countless afterimages as she flew straight through the spatial storm and charged into the crack right after Yu Cheng.
Following her was Wang Yao.
With his mastery of the Dao of Space, Wang Yao was able to enter the crack almost immediately after Immortal Ji Yao.
After these three experts, who each possessed mastery over the Dao of Space, entered the crack, the Three Sages Ancestor and Western Heaven Buddha Ancestor arrived. The two Saint Immortals approached the crack at the same time, blasting each other with Divine Connections as they did.
The Buddha Ancestor’s halo erupted with holy light to fend off the Three Sages Ancestor’s attack as he chanted, “The forbidden door has opened, and the deed is done. Ancestor has already failed your mission, so why continue your resistance? Give up and return to your Three Sages Paradise.”
The Three Sages Ancestor grunted, “The forbidden door may have been opened, but it is not just you and Yu Cheng who have gone. That opportunity might not belong to you.”
“But whoever it belongs to, it still means you failed.”
“Not necessarily.”
The area around them rippled with the shockwaves from their attacks, preventing anyone else from getting close, and just like that, they both vanished into the crack.
Behind them, the Sage Mother of the West, the Ancient Stellar Devil, Ancestor Lifeless, and the Gold Immortal Ancient Buddhas all entered the crack.
Even Nine Disaster, still switching between good and evil, charged in.
Tang Jie simply watched the Immortals go in.
Gold Immortals and True Immortals all rushed to get inside.
Even though they knew that this opportunity most likely had nothing to do with them, none of them was willing to give up on this infinitesimal chance. For the sake of one of those exclusive spots, they started to attack each other.
Storms of spell arts and Divine Connections swept here and there.
The Immortals were already exhausted from the major battle they had just been through, many of them having already died many times and no longer able to revive. For them, death would be a true death, but even so, they still hurled themselves into the fray.
An Immortal general unleashed a storm of sword energy, but before he could drive off the opponent before him, a terrifying black cloud swept over, instantly decaying him to the bone. The Demon Lord who had ambushed him turned around, only to be greeted with a golden nail to the face, and with a screech, he dissolved into black smoke and died. But before the Buddha who attacked him could leave, a blast of pure light struck him in the back, penetrating through his formidable defense, and his face darkened as a golden flame erupted in his body and burned him to ash. Meanwhile, that disciple of the Three Sages Paradise was sliced to ribbons and slain by that storm of sword energy.
One Immortal after another died, all of them in a frenzy to get that opportunity to surpass the Heavenly Dao.
Life became so worthless that True Immortals were dying en masse.
Even a Boundless Gold Immortal fell in the chaos.
Reverend Deep Sea.
As one of the first of the court’s Boundless Gold Immortals to go to battle, he was already drained from unleashing the Infinite Rain of Death. He had been able to rest a little before heading back into battle, but the intense conflict with the demons had left him drained once more.
Just as he had been preparing to retreat to the rear, the crack had opened.
Even though he knew that he basically had no chance at getting that opportunity, he still gritted his teeth and charged to the crack. But luck clearly was not on his side, for at least three Gold-Immortal-level Immortal Arts and twelve True-Immortal-level Divine Connections were aimed at him. Reverend Deep Ocean stubbornly resisted, thinking only of getting through the crack.
To his surprise, right when he reached the crack, he felt all his energy leaving him, his body freezing in place.
At that moment, several dozen Divine Connections struck him.
The moment of entering the crack was when one was most vulnerable.
Even though Reverend Deep Sea immediately poured all his energy into defense, his barriers were obliterated and his Immortal Body was blown to bits. But as a Boundless Gold Immortal, his Divine Soul still persisted with formidable vitality. As he attempted to reform his Immortal Body, he once more lost control of himself. All the while, the spatial storm suddenly intensified, sweeping up his soul and instantly tearing it to shreds.
“NOOOO!” Reverend Deep Sea cried out in despair, and at the moment of death, he saw Tang Jie’s cold eyes.
Tang Jie… Why had someone of his strength not yet gone in?
As Reverend Deep Sea finally figured out what was going on, he ceased to be.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
In a series of explosions, another group of Immortals died.
The strengthening of the storm made the crack even more unstable.
A True Immortal Devil Chief pushed back the rest of his competitors and finally reached the crack.
But before he could get through, the storm suddenly grew several times in power.
This time, not even True Immortals could resist it, and the Devil Chief was instantly torn to shreds in both body and soul.
At this point, all the Gold Immortals had gone in while True Immortals could no longer enter, so the struggle over the crack finally stopped.
No!
One Gold Immortal had yet to enter.
Tang Jie.
Amid the endless slaughter, he was the only one who had maintained his composure.
He had simply watched the Immortals and devils fight each other.
Until now.
As the storm intensified, Tang Jie finally turned to his wife.
As their gazes met, Xu Miaoran understood what her husband intended to do.
She gave Tang Jie a nod.
Tang Jie smiled.
Taking Tang Zixi out of his Divine Palace, he said, “Go; return to your mother’s side.”
“Father!” Tang Zixi looked at Tang Jie. “Are you going in?”
Tang Jie nodded.
He had already come this far, and he had no reason to stop.
He had to go in, no matter what.
To see exactly what that opportunity to surpass the Heavenly Dao was.
To see what that Fate Yu Cheng had awaited for ten thousand years was.
“But before then, I have to do something,” Tang Jie said.
“What?” Tang Zixi asked.
“Take care of a few problems for you,” Tang Jie replied.
He let out a punch, aimed at the distant Court of Myriad Domains.
His punch shot toward the court and slammed into it like a meteor.
The Immortal army erupted in a clamor.
At this moment, now that all the Titans had gone through that crack, Tang Jie was without rival!
Everyone now understood why he had waited until the very last moment to go in.
He didn’t have much time, but it was enough to deal with all of them.
A moment later, Tang Jie manifested his true form.
His giant body exuding an aura of unprecedented power, Tang Jie threw out eighteen punches and three World Devourers.
The entire battlefield was in awe of Tang Jie’s might.
None of the Immortals or devils left could stand against Tang Jie, and whether it was the court or the Primordial Fog demons, they all met with disaster.
They were already badly wounded from battling each other, and Tang Jie’s surprise attack left them with even more losses.
“Tang Jie!” Ice Phoenix yelled in anger.
Her cultivation level was relatively low, so she was the only leader-level figure to have not gone into the crack.
Tang Jie paused for a moment, and then he aimed his attack away from the God Phoenix Palace forces, making another strike at the court that made it sway.
“Take your people and leave, and I will let bygones be bygones.”
Clenching her teeth, Ice Phoenix shouted, “Retreat!”
She led her subordinates back through the demon gates.
Tang Jie then said, “If the subordinates of Three Sages and the Buddha Kingdom leave at once, I will treat it as if nothing had happened.”
He had yet to attack these two parties, perhaps as a form of respect, so after exchanging looks, the two parties both departed.
For them, this battle was already over.
“Husband!” Xu Miaoran shouted.
Tang Jie turned and saw that, under the ravages of the storm, the crack was on the verge of disappearing.
“I leave this place to you,” Tang Jie said.
“Be at ease, my dear husband,” Xu Miaoran answered.
Tang Jie threw out one last punch, slaying an Immortal general, before he flew to the crack.
The crack was already starting to distort, but just as it was about to disappear, Tang Jie grunted, and the crack miraculously stabilized.
Tang Jie threw himself inside.
Once he disappeared, an Immortal general snarled, “Tang Jie, you really are ruthless! But you’re gone while the Rosecloud Domain remains. Brothers, destroy the Rosecloud Domain!”
“Destroy the Rosecloud Domain!” the demons called out as well.
The two of them were now united by a shared enemy.
Though they had both taken on terrible losses, there were still many Immortals left, at least more than the Rosecloud Domain had.
Xu Miaoran simply smiled. “You really think you can win now that my husband is gone? Stellar Shift Formation, activate!”
The Rosecloud Domain suddenly exploded with light.
Transformed into a spinning ball of light, the Rosecloud Domain charged forward…
