Aspiring to the Immortal Path - Chapter 1280: Great Dao Body

Tang Jie saw with a glance that it was Wang Yao’s group, the Three Sages Ancestor and Nine Disaster among them. Nine Disaster had seemingly suppressed his kinder half and regained control, but from the looks of it, it was only temporary, like with Yu Cheng and the will of Tang Jie’s avatar.
Tang Jie had thought that he was chasing after them, but to his surprise, they were coming from behind. It seemed that he had actually gone past them.
But when he thought about it, it made sense. The restriction on strength meant that Wang Yao and the others were able to use far less power than Tang Jie, and it was only because of their numbers that they were able to get this far. Even then, it had still taken them a while and left them in a battered state.
Tang Jie had originally been planning to ask if they had also grown stronger from killing those strange creatures, but when he saw how excited the injured demons were, Tang Jie knew the answer.
Wang Yao also spotted Tang Jie, and he flew over with a hearty laugh.
“Adoptive Father, as expected, you really did come in, and you even managed to get ahead of us. But I suppose that makes sense. Your body cultivation should be unaffected in this place.”
Tang Jie smiled. “I was wondering why I couldn’t find you all. It turns out that I ended up chasing you too far. Why are you all here? And what about Yu Cheng?”
The Black Dragon Demon Lord said, “Yu Cheng was seemingly unwilling to fight, so after trading a few blows, he said that he didn’t want to waste his strength and left with his people. The Demon Sovereigns believe that Yu Cheng acting this way meant that this place was not very peaceful, so it was better to concentrate our forces and keep an eye out. As expected, we ran into plenty of strange creatures on the way, which surprisingly made us stronger when we killed them. It is no wonder that Yu Cheng was unwilling to fight with us.”
Queen Sinflower added, “But while this place can greatly boost our strength, it also greatly limits it. Those creatures got harder and harder to deal with the deeper we went in, and they came in great numbers, so we decided to change direction, leaving the original route. But as we traveled laterally, we found that we weren’t able to absorb very much energy.”
Just like Tang Jie, they had chosen to travel laterally, but unlike Tang Jie, they had been compelled to by their lack of strength rather than just testing things out, wanting to break through before going in deeper. But alas, this choice proved to be no good, so they had chosen to head deeper and ended up here.
“Adoptive Father, since we’ve run into each other, come with us to challenge this path to the tower!” Wang Yao fervently looked at Tang Jie.
Tang Jie knew that Wang Yao was testing his position, so he said with a smile, “Very well. Let us, father and son, join hands to take on this place.”
The demons all sighed in relief.
This was a dimension that favored body cultivators. The fact that Tang Jie had managed to get here all on his own was proof that he was currently stronger than the assembled demons. Joining hands with him was for the best.
As they advanced again, they soon ran into more Dao armament denizens.
These were all at the Earth Immortal level, but as they didn’t cultivate spell arts and only focused on their physical bodies, they were all simply enormous. The demons were so greatly weakened that they often needed more than a hundred Divine Connections to kill a single one of them.
“This damn place, why does it have so many of these annoying creatures? Die, die, die!” a Demon Lord cursed, unleashing a black wave that swept up a group of creatures and left them heavily injured.
“Curses!” The Demon Lord found this no cause to celebrate.
His Lifeless Demon Ocean should have unleashed wave after wave that should have wiped out every creature on this Dao armament, not just heavily injure these several dozen of them.
And after using this move, the Demon Lord was exhausted.
Ten-some creatures immediately rushed up, causing the Demon Lord to yelp in fright. At this moment, a single punch obliterated the creatures, and the Demon Lord turned to see that it was Tang Jie who had saved him.
Tang Jie casually drew back his arm and then punched again, with nothing able to stand against his crushing power.
Wang Yao said in admiration, “This must be how the Martial Lord grew stronger in his day. It’s no wonder he was able to rise from an ordinary cultivator to a terrifying existence that could sweep through the entire Court of Myriad Domains. Alas, I’m not a body cultivator, so I can’t be like him.”
Hearing this, Tang Jie asked, “Bao’er, are you saying that absorbing this power doesn’t strengthen your constitution?”
“Essentially, no,” Wang Yao replied. “We tried before, and we determined that the energy we absorb is related to the cultivation of the one who entered. If a law cultivator enters, the energy they absorb will only increase their law cultivation, while a body cultivator will only improve their body cultivation. I have several body cultivator Demon Lords under me, and their constitutions have grown much stronger. But the potential of the arts they cultivate is limited, unable to surpass the limits of law cultivators, so they didn’t grow that much stronger. As for Dao Arts, they are unaffected. Otherwise, I would have found it rather difficult to bring everyone here.”
He thrust out a finger, and an approaching creature rapidly aged, turning to dust before it could reach Wang Yao.
“I see.” Tang Jie understood.
Wang Yao truly had a few devils under him that appeared stronger than before, and it turned out that they hadn’t just been hiding their power.
In other words, he was growing in both law and body cultivation because he had the perfect body and cultivated both?
Then could he choose to strengthen one over the other?
If possible, Tang Jie would prioritize body cultivation.
This was partially because law cultivation was of limited use here, while there were still many powerful creatures on the road to the tower. If the energy continued to be equally divided, Tang Jie wasn’t certain that he could last until the end. The Martial Lord had probably been able to sweep through the entire court because he had reached the very end, and he had been able to do this because he was a pure body cultivator, all of the energy he absorbed going into his constitution.
The other reason was that Tang Jie had felt something after witnessing Nine Disaster’s ascension. It was still a vague feeling, but it made him wary, as if reaching Saint Immortal wasn’t as great as he thought it would be. After all, Yu Cheng was still a Gold Immortal despite having revived centuries ago. As a former Saint Immortal with plenty of resources at his disposal, a few hundred years was more than enough time for him to regain the status of Saint Immortal.
Thus, Tang Jie didn’t want to reach Saint Immortal too quickly.
But he couldn’t control the energy he absorbed. So long as he killed those creatures, he would instinctively absorb everything.
Tang Jie started to try to guide the aspect that the energy improved.
Alas, he tried several different ways, all of which proved ineffective. He was still a stranger to everything in this place and knew nothing of the nature of this energy, so controlling it was much easier said than done.
As his cultivation grew through all the killing, Tang Jie was forced to control the number he killed to avoid advancing too quickly.
Tang Jie’s “laziness” greatly increased the pressure on the demons.
By the seventh Dao armament, the creatures were at the True Immortal level.
These gigantic creatures emerged from the void and bellowed at the group, their every move capable of shifting worlds.
While the demons had grown stronger, they were still at the peak Violet Palace level, while the likes of Nine Disaster, Wang Yao, and the Three Sages Ancestor were able to use the strength of Earth Immortals. But against these True-Immortal-level creatures, this was not enough, even if they were fighting them one-on-one.
Thankfully, there weren’t as many of them, only around a hundred, but this still had Wang Yao’s group fighting for their lives. If Tang Jie hadn’t been holding them back, these creatures would have utterly destroyed them.
If Tang Jie slacked off just a little, the demons would be doomed.
The creatures came charging over like stellar giants, creating powerful shockwaves as they threw out powerful punches, each one carrying a destructive energy akin to the Devil Crushing Fist. Tang Jie felt like he could see the Combat Emperor Catalog in their moves.
So is that how it was?
Even the Combat Emperor Catalog had actually been developed here.
This was a body cultivator’s paradise!
Tang Jie was becoming more and more certain of this.
He threw out his own punches, hammering the creatures and blasting them to bits.
Against these brutish creatures, Tang Jie was finally beginning to truly understand the power of the Combat Emperor Catalog.
Yes, the legacy of the Martial Lord could be improved!
This was the place!
The Great Dao Body!
Tang Jie sensed something.
It was the Dao Runes from the Dao armaments all around him. They were resonating with his body.
Tang Jie felt like he was starting to comprehend these Dao Runes.
Yes!
He was comprehending them!
He was feeling the essence of those Dao Runes, the essence of this world.
The secret of the Great Dao Body was actually right here!
Tang Jie wanted to cry out in excitement.
Of the five major realms of the Parting Classic, the last level was the Dao Body, carving Dao Runes into one’s own body to make it into a treasure.
Alas, while Tang Jie had cultivated to this level, he was never able to do this.
No matter how strong his body was or how much of the Great Daos he had comprehended, he was never able to attain a Dao Body.
This made Tang Jie believe that the Martial Lord’s methods were mistaken. They could only create shallow Dao Runes that were attached to the surface, not creating a true Dao Body.
But here, at this moment, as he fought these creatures, he finally felt it.
He felt the Daos of this world.
These were Daos completely alien to the world that he knew!
