Aspiring to the Immortal Path - Chapter 1288: Violet Cloud

We’re inside the Heavenly Dao Law Wheel!
Tang Jie’s words made everyone jump to their feet.
Yu Cheng had the most intense reaction, slapping the table and shouting, “That’s impossible!”
Yes, he couldn’t accept.
The vast majority of people believed that the Heavenly Dao Law Wheel was closely related to the Heavenly Dao. This wasn’t because of its name, but because it was the most ethereal, elusive, immense, and mysterious existence in the cosmos, and it was suffused with the Twelve Great Daos and the three thousand minor Daos.
The fact that all the Great Daos were entangled around it was a clear sign that it was the core of the Heavenly Dao.
Thus, the argument that it was simply a title given by the ignorant was regarded as a joke. The Heavenly Dao Law Wheel was acknowledged as such not because of its name, but because it was a manifestation of the countless Daos it contained, because of that supreme might that had obliterated the Martial Lord in a single blow!
It was the manifestation and source of the Heavenly Dao’s will!
But Tang Jie’s words had completely overturned it all.
They meant that the Heavenly Dao Law Wheel was no mere manifestation. It was a physical object!
It meant that the opportunity that Yu Cheng had spent so long searching for might have been a scam from the very start!
This was why Yu Cheng could not possibly accept this.
But sometimes, when signs of trouble appeared, things only got worse and worse.
The violet-clothed man smiled in satisfaction. “Tang Jie, you truly are as smart as they say.”
“You know of me?” Tang Jie sensed the implication in those words.
The man took a sip of his wine and said, “Of course. You are the most important link in the chain of Fate.”
Tang Jie’s eyes turned cold. “Oh? Then what is my purpose?”
The man replied, “To go beyond the heavens and not be within Fate.”
Tang Jie’s heart thumped.
This was basically telling Tang Jie that his arrival in the Rosecloud Domain really had been arranged by somebody. As for the reason, it was naturally because he was from another world and not controlled by this world’s Fate.
Tang Jie took in a deep breath.
“It seems I was someone’s chess piece from the start.”
The violet-clothed man smiled. “Indeed. But since not even the Great Stellar Chiliocosm could control your Fate, the person who arranged for your presence naturally could not either. Thus, your path is still your own, and there is no need to worry that someone else meddled with it.”
Tang Jie had gotten this far entirely thanks to his own intelligence and efforts. He had no family backing him, nor did he receive blessings from the heavens. If some powerhouse had suddenly popped up and told him, Actually, your Fate was arranged by me, and I was the real source behind all your efforts, then Tang Jie would have started cursing like a sailor.
The man didn’t deny Tang Jie’s path, bluntly stating, “Your Fate was to contend against Yu Cheng. It’s just that you managed to do more than even the Heavenly Dao expected.”
Tang Jie and Yu Cheng were both taken aback.
Yu Cheng slapped the table and stood up. “So this was your doing?”
When he used the Fake Sky, False Sun Immortal Art, he had calculated everything, but at the very end, things unexpectedly went wrong. The first was that Tang Jie had two bodies, one that cultivated the body and the other that cultivated laws, resulting in him being unable to cultivate both. But it was Tang Jie’s own choice how to cultivate, and he couldn’t be controlled by Fate, so Yu Cheng could only count himself unlucky and console himself with the fact that nothing was perfect. However, the discovery of Tang Jiye’s will hiding within the avatar that he had chosen to possess for his revival was a true disaster.
What he had taken for bad luck turned out to be the handiwork of another. It was no wonder that soul was so odd that he couldn’t detect it, because it was a soul from another world, not under the control of Fate.
The violet-clothed man calmly replied, “You go against the heavens and seek to usurp Fate. Isn’t it very normal for the Heavenly Dao to snatch a soul from another world to ruin your plan once it noticed? Why are you so surprised?”
Yu Cheng was rendered speechless.
Indeed, if he was trying to usurp Fate, did he expect the Heavenly Dao to help him put his shoes on as well?
If the Heavenly Dao didn’t have its own rules to go by that prevented it from direct interference, it probably would have killed him on his first cycle of the Fake Sky, False Sun Immortal Art.
In comparison, a single soul from another world, a seed that was not controlled by Fate, was no big deal at all.
Yu Cheng took in a deep breath. “Fine, fine, but even so, I still made it here. The Heavenly Dao… is no big deal, as it turns out it’s also being controlled by someone. But I’d like to see how you can stop me now.”
His body suddenly erupted with an immense energy, a golden light that ignored the Dao of this world. Yu Cheng had unleashed the radiance of a Boundless Gold Immortal!
Yu Cheng smirked. “You really think that this place can suppress my strength?”
He had entered Twelve Daos and long ago brought them together into his Dao Unity Realm. The Dao Unity Realm was much like Tang Jie’s Heavenly Dao Realm. It created a Dao Realm in which he had absolute control. This was also why he had never advanced to Saint Immortal, for once he ascended to Saint Immortal, he would have proved a Dao and become one with the world, which meant he could no longer isolate his own territory. Tang Jie and Yu Cheng had both sensed this point, so they had given up on ascending. For them, Boundless was the highest they could go.
Yu Cheng was now showing his true power and preparing to strike.
But at this moment, the violet-clothed man sighed. “When did I say that I was an agent of the Heavenly Dao? And when did I say that I would stop you?”
Yu Cheng froze, his hand stopping mid-reach. “You won’t stop me?”
The man shook his head.
He pointed upward. “The miracle that can let you surpass the Heavenly Dao is at the top of this tower. If you can get to the top, it’s yours.”
Yu Cheng drew back his hand.
With his cultivation and experience, he could tell at a glance that the man wasn’t lying.
He truly had no intention of stopping him.
Even so, Yu Cheng still asked, “I just go up?”
“There will be a few small trials.”
“As expected,” Yu Cheng grunted. “I knew it wouldn’t be that easy.”
“But they can’t stop you,” the violet-clothed man said.
Yu Cheng stared at the man, but seeing that he was no longer interested in conversation and that any further questions would be pointless, he turned to make his way up the tower.
His plan of ten thousand years had all been for this day. No matter what trials lay ahead, nothing could stop him.
The court’s generals and the Buddhas of the Buddha Kingdom followed as well. Even the demons of the Primordial Fog and the disciples of Three Sages went.
Whether or not they had come here of their own volition, whether to interfere or try their luck, since they were already here, there was no reason to stop.
Only Tang Jie decided not to join them.
He sat in the hall, sipping on the Millennial Intoxication and enjoying its flavor as he pondered something.
“Adoptive Father?”
Wang Yao spoke.
“If you want to go, go,” Tang Jie said. “Just be careful.”
Wang Yao nodded. “Adoptive Father, be at ease. Even if Yu Cheng wants to kill me, it won’t be that easy.”
With his Dao of Spacetime, he was a master at escaping, so he did not fear the fact that Yu Cheng had regained his Gold Immortal cultivation.
Soon, Tang Jie was left alone with the violet-clothed man and rainbow-gowned woman.
The man looked at Tang Jie and asked, “Why aren’t you going?”
Tang Jie replied with a smile, “Surpassing the Heavenly Dao is Yu Cheng’s desire, not mine. I came here primarily to ruin Yu Cheng’s plan, but deep down, I also want to see what sort of opportunity can let one surpass the Heavenly Dao.”
“Then you should go up. Only there can you find your answer.”
“There’s no rush. Right now, you interest me more. So, just who are you? And why are you here?”
The man shook his head. “Knowing about me will be of no help to you. Isn’t it better to treat me like those creatures and fairies you found outside?”
“But I insist on knowing. Didn’t you say before? I am not controlled by Fate, so I can decide what I want to do. No matter what plans Fate has made, it won’t affect me. And right now, I want to know: who exactly are you two?”
As Tang Jie spoke, his tone gradually chilled, and his eyes remained locked on the pair.
The man’s cup-holding hand froze.
After a few moments, he chuckled and said, “As expected, one not controlled by Fate is rather troublesome. It can be a weapon that can take down one’s enemy, but also an obstacle to one’s own plans. You can never know when he might turn around and attack you. Even the Millennial Intoxication, the Sands of Time, the Candle of Fate, and the guidance of the Heavenly Dao cannot influence you. If that’s the case, then I can only…”
He slowly stood up and drew back with the rainbow-gowned woman.
He was running?
Tang Jie’s eyes flashed as he reached out. “Stay right there and answer my question!”
But the pair’s bodies instantly turned blurry, and Tang Jie ended up only snatching at illusions.
Tang Jie rose and found that the entire hall had been locked down.
Tang Jie was unperturbed, shouting, “You said that I could become a weapon to be used against your enemy. Who is your enemy? Fate? The Heavenly Dao? But aren’t you right here? Why would you oppose Fate? Tell me: just who are you two?”
There was no reply.
“You think I won’t find out just because you won’t say anything? Heavenly Dao Realm, open!”
A halo erupted from his feet.
As the halo expanded, the ethereal figures of the violet-clothed man and the rainbow-gowned woman appeared before Tang Jie. This was not an illusion, but Tang Jie using the Heavenly Dao Realm to detect the energy the two had left behind and magnify it until he had created these two phantoms.
This could be considered a kind of cultivator cloning art. Supreme True Immortals had the ability to create spell arts, and the Heavenly Dao Realm could go far beyond this, creating an Immortal Art that allowed Tang Jie to create two copies.
Tang Jie jabbed his fingers into the two copies and started to absorb their memories.
Countless images flashed through his mind, most of them useless memory fragments, until finally, he saw two names.
Shuddering, Tang Jie blurted out, “The Violet Robe Wanderer and Scarlet Cloud Fairy! So it was you two, the Violet Cloud Couple!”
