Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground - Chapter 1292: Expectations

Chapter 1292: Expectations
Atticus fixed his cold gaze onto the gothic woman. Despite her luminous, translucent appearance, she still maintained her figure.
Though she claimed she was a centuries old god, she didn’t look it one.
Her appearance was that of a twenty year old girl still trying to find herself. She had curves and bust in all the right places, and from the way she was barely dressed, moving and swaying around, it was clear she knew exactly how to use them.
“See something you like?” Lyress asked with a wink. “I normally don’t encourage such unruly behavior from my children, but I’ll make an exception for you. You did defeat me, after all.”
Atticus’s frown seemed to deepen with every syllable that left her mouth. “I am not your child. And no, I don’t see anything I like.”
“How rude.” Lyress planted her hands on her waist and leaned forward. Atticus couldn’t help but let out a breath as her dangling cleavage swayed in front of him.
“Listen. I don’t know what game you’re playing here, but stop it. I have a mother. And I have a girlfriend. They’re both all I want, so why don’t you crawl back into whatever pit you came from and stay there.”
Atticus tried hard to hold back his rising emotions. The fact that he couldn’t get rid of Lyress without altering the mana signature of the world was grating his nerves.
‘How did she do this?’
He already knew the answer. That wasn’t the issue. The first issue was he couldn’t understand why the hell she would want this. And secondly, that he hadn’t thought of it first.
‘She created her own power system.’
Atticus couldn’t help but admit it, she was a genius. The current power system of Somnera wasn’t the one they originally had. Lyress had changed it, and she had embedded herself into it while doing so. It was like coding yourself into the foundation of a world.
Atticus had no way of knowing the original mana signature. And even if he did, he didn’t want to lose the power he had just gained. Which meant this was something he’d have to live with. He just had to find a way.
A frown appeared on Lyress’ face. “Why have two, when you can have one handling both roles simultaneously?” A smirk appeared on her lips. “Let me have a little chat with these women. I’ll make them change their mi—”
Thunder crackled overhead as clouds gathered. The wind howled. The air turned heavy, fierce.
It took Lyress a moment to realize she couldn’t speak. No matter how hard she tried, not a single word came out of her mouth.
Her trembling gaze landed on Atticus. He was staring at her with eyes colder than glacial.
“If I see you near them…” his voice was quiet but weighty. “…then I’ll forget everything Somnera has to offer. I’ll eradicate your people and erase you from the face of this planet.”
As he finished speaking, the thunder ceased, and the wind fell silent.
The two of them stared at each other for long moments.
“Ahem.” Lyress cleared her throat. “You take things too far, my son. You’re too young for that.”
Atticus took in a breath. The crazy woman had just called him “son” again, despite clearly being told not to. He paused, then something clicked in his mind.
‘It should work.’ An idea just popped up in his head, and in the next moment, Atticus suddenly stopped using Somnera’s power.
“W– what… no!” Lyress exclaimed as her body started fading. “S–son!”
But Atticus wasn’t moved for even a single bit. His gaze didn’t flicker as she vanished completely, the hill falling silent once more.
Atticus released a breath of relief. He was extremely glad that it actually worked.
If the remnants of Lyress’ soul were tethered to the altered mana signature of Somnera, then as long as he didn’t use that signature, she wouldn’t be able to manifest.
‘Good.’
He was glad he was the only one with access to the original signature. His plan wouldn’t have worked if others had the ability to use it.
At least now, she couldn’t move around the planet however she liked.
Atticus shook his head and decided to focus on more important things.
‘My Will.’
He had felt the change. Before the merge, his Will had been capped by the limits of the lower plane. But now, after absorbing five new worlds, and gods, Atticus could feel it, that cap was under pressure. His Will felt like it could burst through at any moment.
‘I can’t wait to get to the Midplanes.’
Atticus thought excitedly. He was expecting a massive rise in his Will when he ascended. And more than anything, he would finally be able to measure how powerful his Will truly was compared to others. The lower plane cap had limited a lot of things that one wouldn’t have imagined.
‘Whisker mentioned the will power system, but I can only get an accurate measurement in the Midplanes.’
There was a way to measure one’s will against a standard unit of measurement in the middle planes. There were numerous technicalities to it, but Atticus had every intention of doing this as soon as he reached the mid planes.
He suddenly remembered the wild man. Whisker, and then Ozeroth. They were both up to something.
Atticus frowned. ‘It can’t be good.’
He vanished, appearing on the side of the world where he felt their presence.
He found himself in the skies above a medieval looking city. There were carriages pulled by flying beasts soaring through the skies.
Stone towers lined the city, narrow bridges connecting rooftops. Blacksmiths hammered at anvils, markets buzzed with noise, and church bells rang in the distance.
Atticus scanned the figures below and couldn’t help but frown.
‘Of course.’
The population was made up almost entirely of Amazonian women. Female citizens clad in silver and bronze armor wandered around the city with pride.
