Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground - Chapter 1649 Hide

Chapter 1649 Hide
“Domain of Supremacy.”
A formless wave burst from his body and swallowed the entire hallway in pitch darkness.
The next moment, Azeron stood within an endless expanse of grey and shadow. The hallway, the lab, and the others had vanished completely.
Only the Judicator remained.
The armored man hovered a short distance away, scanning the strange world around him with narrowed eyes.
“…What is this?”
His gaze snapped toward Azeron.
“Who are you? What have you done?”
Azeron suddenly laughed.
“You’re standing in my domain.”
He floated in the air like a god standing within his own world, gazing down at the Judicator with utter disdain.
“In here… I am supreme.”
The Judicator’s eyes darkened.
…
Thora felt livid.
One moment countless calculations had exploded through her mind at the thought of having to fight a Judicator, and the next the hallway had fallen completely silent as Azeron and the Judicator suddenly vanished.
‘Where did they go?’
Thora almost slapped herself for the stupid thought. Of course she knew where they had gone.
Azeron had clearly dragged the Judicator somewhere.
She snapped her head toward Thomas. The inscriber was trembling furiously, his eyes darting nervously down the hallway.
Thora silently motioned toward the lab.
Thomas’ eyes widened and he shook his head immediately. It was impossible to know whether other Willguard forces were present inside aside from the Judicator.
‘This cowardly fool.’
For a moment Thora seriously considered hitting him. After everything the fool had done, she would be doing the world a great service. Instead she clenched her teeth and turned toward the rest of the Evoli, who were now staring at her, waiting for a decision.
She jerked her chin toward the door.
Move.
The Evoli nodded with grim expressions.
Exhaling slowly, Thora began moving down the hallway.
Without Azeron present they had lost the luxury of camouflage, which meant every second they delayed increased the chance of being discovered.
She reached the door and pushed through it a moment later. Then froze at the sight.
Dozens of sickly men, women, and children lay on metal beds arranged across the room. Their bodies were thin and pale, most of them scarcely moving as faint breathing escaped their lips.
Fragment Bearers. And they all looked half dead.
But Thora barely had time to process it before something else caught her attention.
At the far corner of the room, stood a small group of Willguard. Every single one of them was now staring straight at her.
‘Sentinels. Shit.’
“They’ve seen us!”
Her voice cut through the lab just as the Evoli stormed in behind her.
The moment they saw the Sentinels, their expressions twisted with murderous intent.
For a brief moment, the entire lab fell into a suffocating silence.
Then one of the Evoli unleashed his will and shot forward with a roar, crashing into one of the Sentinels in a violent burst of light.
The rest followed instantly. A wave of force erupted through the room as their clash exploded across the laboratory.
The entire structure shook violently. Walls cracked. Metal tables overturned. Sections of the ceiling caved inward as the shockwaves ripped through the facility.
In the midst of the chaos, Thora shielded herself with her will and rushed toward the rows of beds. She began gathering the sickly Fragment Bearers, lifting their bodies carefully using her will.
She frowned deeply. Many of them barely even reacted as they were moved. They were far weaker than she expected. For a moment her gaze flicked across the room and landed on Thomas. The inscriber had lifted a young girl onto his shoulders, clutching her carefully as though afraid she might break.
Thora paused briefly. Then she shook her head and returned to her task.
A loud bang snapped her head toward the shattered wall beside her.
A moment later, a Sentinel rose from the cloud of dust.
Thora’s gaze narrowed as the Sentinel’s golden eyes settled on her.
…
The world blurred around Eldros as he tore through the terrain.
A large frown sat on his face as the distant booms echoed through the air.
‘I can’t interfere.’
The monster child Atticus was currently fighting the High Judicator. Though Eldros knew without a doubt of the overwhelming power of the High Judicator, the events of the past had already proven that Atticus was an enigma that couldn’t be measured by normal means.
The fact that the battle was still raging even after several minutes was enough indication that the future was uncertain.
If, by some chance, Atticus defeated the High Judicator…
Then Eldros was finished.
His mind continued to run through possibilities as he sped across the terrain. The entire domain was almost certainly under lockdown by now, which meant leaving was impossible even if he wanted to.
Being seen was also out of the question.
Which left only one option.
‘I have to hide.’
“Hey.”
Eldros instantly snapped his gaze upward.
Above him, Whisker hovered in the air with a wide grin plastered across his face, the ancient-looking gate still looming behind him like a looming shadow.
Eldros’ eyes slowly darkened.
“Whisker…”
A battle was the last thing he needed right now.
“Hello again, brother.”
Whisker’s grin stretched wider as he slowly licked his lips.
“That look… I do enjoy seeing it on your face.”
Eldros exhaled quietly, forcing his composure back into place as he straightened his posture. A faint smile appeared on his lips.
“Are you sure you have the luxury of being here? The High Judicator is not someone to take lightly. That child—”
“Ah, relax.” Whisker waved his hand dismissively. “You don’t need to worry about my star actor. He’s a big boy.”
Eldros’ eyes narrowed slightly.
“The High Judicator is a being of absolute power. No matter how strong he’s become, he cannot—”
“Haaa… I said don’t worry, didn’t I?” Whisker sighed, sounding almost bored. “If anything, I’m more worried about that old fool.”
His gaze suddenly sharpened.
“But really… can you afford to worry about anyone else right now?”
‘It didn’t work.’
Eldros slowly clenched his fists.
He had hoped that bringing up Atticus would push Whisker to rush back to the battlefield.
But the man hadn’t taken the bait.
‘Now what?’
Eldros quickly ran through his options. After a brief moment, an idea surfaced.
“Then—”
“You talk too much.”
Eldros’ eyes widened. Whisker was abruptly standing right in front of him.
“Wai—”
Squelch.
Whisker’s arm tore through his chest before he could react.
“You…”
Spitting a mouthful of blood, Eldros raised his shaky gaze to find Whisker staring at him with a frosty smile.
Suddenly, Eldros grinned.
