Chapter 107: Chapter 101: Emergency Rescue (Part 2)
“Let’s go find some Pet Beasts for help,” Chen Yuan said.
Zhang Hao struggled to push away the massive pig head and curiously asked, “What Pet Beasts?”
Chen Yuan smiled slightly, “The group of Pet Beasts that chased you last time.”
Zhang Hao’s face suddenly stiffened.
This forest is not far from the habitat of the Violent Cloud Sparrow flock. Chen Yuan quickly led Zhang Hao there.
“Huff huff!”
Enemies meeting face to face are always extraordinarily enraged.
The Gray-armored Wild Boar, which had been pecked before, saw the flock of Violent Cloud Sparrows and was instantly furious, only calming down gradually after Zhang Hao soothed it.
“Chirp chirp chirp!”
When Spark flew over leisurely, the flock of Violent Cloud Sparrows first stirred, then under the lead of the sparrow leader, flapped their wings and flew up in swarms to greet him.
Zhang Hao couldn’t help muttering, “It looks like the gang members greeting their boss.”
Chen Yuan said, “Spark, ask them if they’ve seen these two people recently.”
Chen Yuan took out the photo Song Guohao sent him, which showed a man and a woman in jackets.
“Chirp chirp chirp~”
After checking the photo, the Violent Cloud Sparrows all shook their heads.
Chen Yuan nodded helplessly, then said, “There’s now a chance to earn a Luminous Fruit.”
“Chirp!”
The sparrow leader’s eyes instantly brightened, staring intently at Chen Yuan.
Clearing his throat, Chen Yuan scanned each Violent Cloud Sparrow and loudly said, “Anyone who can find the two people in the photo will be rewarded with a Luminous Fruit.”
“Chirp chirp!”
The flock of Violent Cloud Sparrows instantly became restless, chirping and tweeting in a cacophony. Some sparrows had already flapped their wings and left, trying to be the first to find the two people.
For Chen Yuan, this was an interesting experiment.
If this flock of Violent Cloud Sparrows could accurately understand and complete the task entrusted to them, he could delegate more tasks to them in the future.
Like searching for Pet Beasts he hasn’t encountered, or Spirit Plants occupied by powerful Pet Beasts…
“Alright then, go help with the search. If you find anything, come to me. I’ll continue along this path.”
Before the words were finished, the sparrow leader, already eager, let out a high-pitched call, leading a group of Violent Cloud Sparrows on the search journey.
Zhang Hao rubbed his chin, muttering softly, “Could we establish a long-term collaboration with this flock of Violent Cloud Sparrows, create an emergency rescue team in Qinling, we get money, they get Spirit Plants.”
Chen Yuan joked, “Haozi, with a business mind like yours, you really shouldn’t continue as a Forest Ranger.”
“You’ll be the next business genius.”
After a brief conversation, the two continued to move forward, traversing the dense woods.
Sunshine filtered through the leaves, casting scattered rays, as a gentle breeze swept through, causing the light and shadows to dance.
“By the way, Yuan, a few days ago when I went up the mountain, I came across that pack of Snow Cloud Wolves you mentioned,” Zhang Hao suddenly spoke.
“Nothing happened, right?” Chen Yuan asked with concern.
“No, I just took a look from a distance and hurriedly ran away with the Gray-armored Wild Boar,” Zhang Hao replied slowly, “Besides, they were chasing a group of Star Moon Deer and weren’t interested in me.”
Both Snow Cloud Wolves and Star Moon Deer were familiar faces.
Chen Yuan sighed, “Deer and wolves are natural enemies; with the Spiritual Energy Revival, their territorial instincts are even stronger now. They’ll probably fight for a long time.”
Zhang Hao shrugged and said, “Their fighting is just nature’s order, as long as humans don’t interfere.”
Chen Yuan nodded in agreement.
…
The mountains were steep, the cave deep.
Lin Hongwei rubbed his aching arm, inhaling a sharp breath, then softly asked his girlfriend beside him, “Jiajia, are you okay?”
Gong Jia shook her head slowly, leaning against the rugged rocky wall with Lin Hongwei, speaking softly, “What do you think it really wants?”
Lin Hongwei looked up at the sizeable brown silhouette ahead, shaking his head, “Hard to say for now.”
This was a particularly large bear-like Pet Beast, covered in brown fur with some white stripes, and with two fierce claws rummaging through their two backpacks.
As a first-term student at Yunhua Beast Taming Academy, Lin Hongwei recognized this bear-like Pet Beast—the Earth Bear, Earth-type Pet Beast, naturally born with elite quality.
Tempers are volatile, with strong territorial instincts.
The Earth Bear’s claws lightly scratched, immediately tearing open the two backpacks, spilling clothes, food, and other items.
The Earth Bear’s round eyes rolled, casually pushing the clothes aside, picking up the food pile and sniffing it, a thoughtful look appearing in its eyes.
“Roar~”
A dull roar like thunder echoed in their ears, making the two cover their ears, their faces instantly pale.
This roar reminded them both of last night’s events.
Yesterday, they planned to descend the mountain but were caught in a sudden rainstorm, forcing them to find a cave to shelter.
Upon entering the cave, they encountered this unbelievably powerful Earth Bear.
With just two punches, their proud Pet Beast lay on the ground.
“This Earth Bear must have Tier Two strength,” Lin Hongwei thought secretly.
He had fought with the academy’s genius Beastmaster Zhuang Jianbai, whose Pet Beast was strong but definitely couldn’t one-shot.
As the roar sounded, a one-meter-high Earth Bear cub ran in from outside the cave, scampering to Mr. Xiong’s side.
“Roar?”
Mr. Xiong pointed at the pile of food in front, looking at the Bear Cub.
The Bear Cub sniffed the scent and then turned away.
“Our food’s been rejected?” Gong Jia asked softly.
“Looks like it.” Lin Hongwei’s expression was particularly intriguing.
With limited conditions in the wilderness, they had brought instant food just to fill their stomachs, definitely not tasty.
“Roar!”
Mr. Xiong lightly patted the Bear Cub’s head, then extended a paw pointing at the two trembling people beside the rock wall.
“Roar…”
The Bear Cub shook its head again.
With the two Earth Bears staring at them, their hearts reached their throats, pounding intensely.
However, the Bear Cub seemed uninterested in them, shaking its head and then looking outside the cave.
“Are they not planning to eat us?” Gong Jia whispered.
Lin Hongwei made a cold joke, “Maybe they’re saving us as New Year’s stock.”
Gong Jia gave Lin Hongwei a sidelong glance, and he smiled sheepishly.
“Do you remember what happened this morning?” Lin Hongwei suddenly asked.
Gong Jia pursed her lips and slowly nodded.
Since last night until this morning, they were intimidated by the Earth Bear’s power and didn’t dare to escape, staying obediently in the cave.
Early in the morning, the Earth Bear had each of them send out their Pet Beasts to battle the Bear Cub.
Mr. Xiong watched nearby, and both refrained from performing fully, resulting in double defeats.
But Mr. Xiong seemed dissatisfied and nudged them, making them personally face the Bear Cub.
With just a gentle push from the Bear Cub, Lin Hongwei was knocked to the ground, injuring his arm.
Luckily the Bear Cub perhaps found it uninteresting, and didn’t fight Gong Jia.
“I feel like it’s using us as sparring partners or…” Lin Hongwei whispered in Gong Jia’s ear, his expression odd, “as toys for the Bear Cub.”
Gong Jia fell silent, then sighed, “Will we be stuck here because of this?”
Lin Hongwei’s heart also quivered with fear, but to comfort his girlfriend, he forced a smile, “Just wait a bit longer, maybe things will change.”
“Perhaps this Earth Bear will tire of us and let us go, or maybe the Association will send someone to rescue us.”
“Believe me, Jiajia, we’ll definitely get out.”
Their hushed conversations weren’t noticed by the two Earth Bears. The Bear Cub got up from the ground, pointing to the outside of the cave, “Roar roar~”
Mr. Xiong waved its paw helplessly, “Roar.”
“Roar!”
The Bear Cub immediately became excited, quickly running out of the cave. Once out of Mr. Xiong’s sight, it raised its head, glancing around, searching for truly delicious food.
Its nose twitched, ears gently quivering, starting to track that mouthwatering scent.
Suddenly,
The Bear Cub’s eyes brightened, and it dashed forward, following the scent wafting in the air.
