Chapter 95: Chapter 95: I’m Here to Get Certified as an Intermediate Beastmaster
A few hours later, Chen Yuan boarded the bus heading to Baokun City from the county.
He didn’t like driving to the city; firstly, he wasn’t familiar with the routes and there were many cars, and secondly, driving for long periods was mentally exhausting.
Letting the two little ones stay quietly in the Pet Beast space, Chen Yuan was about to close his eyes for a rest when he received a call from Chen Wenhao.
“Bro, I was busy earlier, only now do I have time to respond.”
“No worries, work is important.”
Chen Wenhao slowly said, “The question you asked is actually one that concerns many Beastmasters.”
After a slight pause, he continued, “Current data shows that the higher the rank of the Pet Beast, the more skills it can awaken on its own.”
“A Pet Beast of ordinary quality can only awaken two skills on its own.”
“If it’s of elite quality, then it can awaken three on its own.”
“As for Commander quality, that’s four.”
Chen Yuan’s face showed a hint of surprise, and then he muttered softly, “No wonder.”
The little ones at the farm are currently all of elite quality, each mastering three skills.
And even though Spark has broken through to Tier Two, its quality is still elite, so it hasn’t awakened a fourth skill.
“And when Commander quality ascends to Morning Star quality, it will awaken a unique racial skill,” Chen Wenhao said in a deep voice.
Two unfamiliar terms suddenly appeared, and Chen Yuan didn’t have time to think much, directly asking, “Morning Star quality? Racial skills?”
“Above Commander is Morning Star. After reaching this rank, the Pet Beast will once again evolve, undergoing earth-shattering changes.”
“As for racial skills, those belong exclusively to one particular race, and other races can’t master them.”
“For example, when your Flame Cloud Falcon reaches Morning Star rank, it will evolve into a higher-level life form, mastering a racial skill that only this life form can awaken.”
“Wait, that’s a lot to process.” Chen Yuan’s pupils shrank slightly, asking Chen Wenhao to pause while he delved deep into thought.
Morning Star quality, further evolution, racial skills…
Each word made Chen Yuan’s heart surge with anticipation, but he quickly calmed down.
Spark isn’t even at the Commander rank yet, it’s still far from Morning Star; why worry about so much now?
“Are the self-awakened skills too few?” Chen Yuan asked.
Chen Wenhao chuckled lightly, “That’s why Pet Beasts can acquire skills through other means.”
“For example, using special Spirit Plants, being in a special environment, or even being taught by other Pet Beasts…”
“They can be taught skills?” Chen Yuan was surprised.
“Of course, if one is willing to teach and the other is willing to learn, there’s a chance to master skills of the same attribute.”
At this, Chen Wenhao paused for a moment and then let out a strange laugh, “If a Pet Beast has exceptional talent, it might even grasp skills of different attributes.”
Chen Yuan couldn’t help but lament, “Hearing you say this makes me feel like I know very little about Pet Beasts.”
Chen Wenhao said, “The more you research, the more you realize what you don’t know.”
“We’re all like that.”
Recalling what he had seen and heard in the research lab, Chen Wenhao couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.
…..
It was already six in the afternoon when they arrived in Baokun City, but the sun of midsummer was still hanging high in the sky, yet to set.
Luckily, Chen Yuan had found out before coming that the Beastmaster Association’s closing time was seven in the evening, so he headed straight to the Baokun City Beastmaster Association Building, full of curiosity.
As the first Beastmaster from Xuanhe Village, he had to see the Beastmaster Association Building for himself.
Once in the car, upon hearing the destination, the taxi driver turned his head to glance at Chen Yuan and asked, “Are you a Beastmaster?”
“Yes.”
The driver slowly started the car, glancing at Chen Yuan through the rearview mirror as he said, “You’re the first Beastmaster I’ve picked up today.”
Chen Yuan laughed, “Aren’t there many Beastmasters in the city?”
“No way, you can’t find many Beastmasters even in an entire neighborhood.” The driver chuckled, “To be honest, I also tried meditation, but that thing’s too hard; I end up falling asleep when I try.”
At this, the driver raised his head slightly, his lips curving upwards, “But my boy’s talent is pretty good, he became a Beastmaster in just four days, making his classmates really envious.”
“That’s impressive.” Chen Yuan smiled and nodded.
He never shied away from chatting with strangers; he was also an adept conversationalist.
“Alas, I don’t know if this is a good thing.” The driver sighed again, a complex expression on his face, “Now he’s always clamoring to become a Beastmaster, but how can we afford a Pet Beast for him to contract and buy a bunch of things?”
“Plus… he’s going to take the college entrance exam next year, wouldn’t becoming a Beastmaster now disrupt his studies?”
Chen Yuan was momentarily silent.
At times like this, deciding whether to become a Beastmaster or continue on the usual path is indeed a dilemma.
“I heard that Beastmaster Academies have already been set up around the country, similar to universities. The prospects after graduating should be quite good; you might want to keep an eye out and prepare in advance,” Chen Yuan said.
After chatting all the way, the taxi slowly came to a stop in front of the Beastmaster Association Building.
This place wasn’t in the city center but rather a bit secluded, yet there were many passersby.
When Chen Yuan looked up, the Beastmaster Association Building wasn’t very tall, probably only a dozen or so floors, but it appeared exceptionally grand and imposing.
The road was crowded with pedestrians, but very few were entering the building, so as Chen Yuan walked towards the entrance, some passersby cast envious glances his way.
The automatic door opened on its own as Chen Yuan stepped inside, instantly catching sight of a display screen on the far wall, which held two sets of numbers:
