Chapter 96: Chapter 95: I’m Here to Get Certified as a Mid-Tier Beastmaster (Part 2)
Seeing Chen Yuan’s confused expression, the young and well-built security guard at the door immediately puffed out his chest: “That’s the current total Contribution Value and ranking of our Baokun City Beastmaster Association.”
“We’re ranked in the top hundred among hundreds of city-level associations across the country.”
“But our goal isn’t the top hundred, it’s the top ten!”
The young security guard’s eyes were bright and his voice was loud: “You should know that on the very first day the Contribution Value ranking system was established, our Baokun City Beastmaster Association was ranked tenth!”
“The reason we were ranked tenth was thanks to a particularly impressive Beastmaster…”
Hearing this, Chen Yuan coughed into his fist, interrupting, “Do you introduce this every time a new Beastmaster comes in?”
“How did you know?” The security guard looked puzzled.
Chen Yuan shrugged without explaining.
The introduction from the security guard had been so loud, it echoed throughout the entire hall, yet none of the other staff or Beastmasters seemed curious, as if they were already accustomed to it.
Evidently, he wasn’t just an ordinary security guard, he also carried the responsibility of promoting the Baokun City Beastmaster Association.
Walking into the hall,
“Excuse me, is this your first time at the Beastmaster Association?” A staff member in a black uniform, tall and with light makeup, approached quickly with a faint smile on her face.
Chen Yuan nodded.
“Hello, I’m the receptionist, Yun.” She smiled slightly and then extended her right hand, her voice sweet, “Let me introduce it to you.”
“Thank you.” Coming to a new environment, one naturally needs a guide.
“The Beastmaster Association is the starting point for every Beastmaster’s dreams, we are here to ensure the growth of every Beastmaster and offer you the most considerate benefits.”
“Please look this way.” Yun gestured, “Here is the front desk, if you need to get certified as a Beastmaster or receive a task, you need to confirm it with the staff here.”
Chen Yuan nodded slightly, noticing that there were five staff members at the front desk, all sitting in front of computers.
Perhaps because it was close to the end of the workday, there were no Beastmasters at the front desk, and the staff seemed to enjoy the leisurely time.
“This side is the task hall.” Yun led Chen Yuan to several machines, “To receive a task, first determine your region, then filter according to the task requirements.”
“Some tasks require team cooperation, some require specific attributes of the Pet Beast… different requirements need careful selection.”
Chen Yuan asked, “Can’t tasks be received on the phone as well?”
“Yes.” Yun’s smile was sweet, “But receiving online requires qualification review, while here you only need to confirm through the front desk.”
Chen Yuan nodded to show understanding.
“In addition, the Beastmaster Association has a rest area, a battle area, a gym area, and several other areas to meet the various needs of Beastmasters.” Yun faced Chen Yuan, her voice gentle, “Are you here to get certified as a Beastmaster or to receive a task?”
Chen Yuan replied, “I’m looking for Officer Zhou Xu.”
He had contacted Zhou Xu before coming but hadn’t gotten through, clearly busy.
“Officer Zhou Xu?” Yun was visibly taken aback, then said, “The president and the officers are in a meeting, it might take a while.”
Chen Yuan smiled, “Then I’ll wait a bit.”
Yun reminded, “Sir, there are only twenty minutes left until the end of the workday, I cannot be sure if this meeting will end within half an hour.”
Chen Yuan understood her implied meaning.
Yun continued, “If your matter must involve Officer Zhou Xu, I’d suggest coming back tomorrow.”
“If not, the staff at the front desk should be able to help.”
Chen Yuan glanced at the time on his phone, then nodded, “Alright, but my matter might take a while, it probably won’t finish before the end of the workday.”
Yun smiled, “Even if it’s the end of work time, we’ll finish your matter before we leave.”
Hearing this, Chen Yuan silently sympathized with these poor workers.
But he said, “Thank you for your trouble.”
“No trouble at all.” Yun smiled lightly and then led Chen Yuan to the front desk, addressing the staff, “Mrs. Li, this Beastmaster needs…”
“What service do you need?” She turned to look at Chen Yuan.
Chen Yuan answered, “I want to get certified as a mid-tier Beastmaster.”
The staff member, referred to as Mrs. Li, didn’t even look up, her fingers clattering on the keyboard: “Okay, to be certified as an Initial-tier Beastmaster, please present your personal ID, and summon your Pet Beast…”
Halfway through her speech, she suddenly realized something was amiss, her voice halted abruptly, and she looked up sharply at Chen Yuan: “Mid… mid-tier Beastmaster?”
…
In the meeting room,
Wang Jianping glanced around calmly, speaking slowly, “Regarding the first Baokun City Beastmaster Competition to be held next month, everyone must take it seriously.”
“From top to bottom, we must be fully prepared to do our best.”
“As for the name you mentioned, I thought about it, our Baokun City is known for Taibai Mountain, so let’s call it the Taibai Cup.”
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement.
“Having settled the name, let’s move on to the publicity and registration requirements.” Wang Jianping’s eyes were sharp, his voice steady, “Publicity should cover all age groups, whether children, students, adults, or the elderly, everyone should know about the Taibai Cup and that it’s a Beastmaster competition.”
“As for registration requirements, as long as you’re an Association-certified Initial-tier Beastmaster, you can sign up to participate.”
Someone immediately commented, “President, in that case, won’t there be too many Beastmasters participating in the competition, greatly increasing our workload?”
Wang Jianping waved his hand, his voice loud: “That’s not the case, most Beastmasters are at entry-level, a Pet Beast battle can be resolved in three minutes at most.”
Sitting beside him, Zhou Xu nodded, “Yes, low-level Pet Beast battles don’t take much time.”
The discussion about the Taibai Cup came to an end, and Wang Jianping spoke slowly, “The next matter is about anomalies deep within the Qinling Forest.”
At this point, he turned to Zhou Xu, “After knowing about the situation here, the headquarters has taken it very seriously and has already made preliminary plans.”
Zhou Xu sat upright.
Wang Jianping said, “In a while, a professor from the Beast Taming Academy Headquarters will come for an in-depth investigation, and some first-batch students will accompany him. The headquarters wants us to be prepared to support them and keep a close watch on all changes in the forest.”
Zhou Xu, with a solemn expression: “Understood.”
“Then let’s talk about the last thing…”
Just as he finished speaking, the door of the meeting room was gently pushed open, Wang Jianping’s secretary walked in quickly, and Wang Jianping frowned, immediately pausing his speech, leaving the room in silence.
Unless there was something particularly urgent and important, Wang Jianping hated being interrupted during meetings.
But when the secretary leaned in to whisper something to him, everyone noticed the visible change in Wang Jianping’s expression.
First shock, then astonishment, and finally, a look of… delight?
The attendees were very curious about what the secretary had conveyed, but they all kept their expressions neutral, suppressing their inner curiosity.
Once the secretary left, Wang Jianping’s face showed an unmistakable subtle smile, saying, “We’ll discuss the remaining matters tomorrow, everyone should rest early.”
Everyone nodded, then watched as Wang Jianping got up, and said to Zhou Xu beside him, “You come with me.”
The two left the meeting room quickly, and the previously silent room erupted with discussions.
“Mr. Wang, what’s the matter?”
In Zhou Xu’s impression, Wang Jianping was always composed, rarely showing such a reaction.
“It’s a fantastic news.” Wang Jianping didn’t elaborate, simply leading Zhou Xu towards the duel room on the second floor.
