“Wait, you’re saying Merlin not dead?” Elayne asked.
“Eh? Of course not, he’s one of King Oberon’s sons! His lifespan is very long as a direct son of him and a Welsh Woman.” Said Katherine. “Unlike most of King Oberon’s children, Merlin was rescued by our King once his mother died by giving birth to him, and he was abandoned in the church, where he was barely raised. He had a harsh childhood, and was quite the unruly child when King Oberon brought him over… I remember that I was but a little baby fairy back then, and he was so very rude to everyone… but he has changed so much! He even taught magic to the Lady of the Lake, his aunt, someone much older than him!”
“A-Amazing… So many incredible historical and mythological figures all together… Avalon is an incredible place!” Elayne was excited to visit that realm. “I can’t wait to go there!”
“Heheh, I’m glad you’re feeling excited, Master,” Katherine said. “Ah, should I help you?”
“Please…” Elayne cried, covered to the brim by Dream Spirits.
For some reason they really, really loved her, and wouldn’t let her go at all!
Perhaps something about her Aura made them love her, aside from the usual powers and abilities she had.
Maybe it was her connection with Morpheus, or perhaps her own innate dream powers, whatever the case, they were very clingy.
“Uuuggh, come on… T-There!”
As Elayne managed to get the last one out of her, with the help of the Spirit Guardians, she ran away from them, entering her domain and the palace, where nobody was invited except those she desired to bring along.
“Hmm, smells nice!” Katherine said.
And indeed, it smelled really nice, the smell of freshly prepared food could be felt everywhere. Fried rice, grilled meat, crunchy fried chicken, pasta with Bolognese sauce, even pizza and freshly squeezed fruit juice, there was about everything one would want for lunch. Even some fish from when Elayne fished at the rivers of the Forest of Beginnings.
Her Gourmet Spirits, especially Gordon, had the special ability to access any ingredients inside her inventory without needing her prompt. Though they obviously don’t choose valuable things unless they ask first.
“Ah, you’re finally back, Elayne,” Mark said. “Food’s almost ready…”
“We’ve been exploring the palace and the surroundings; it’s a nice place!” Rita said. “To think you could make this the entire time! Why didn’t you do it earlier?”
“I-I had no idea how to even do it while we were fighting frenetically for our lives, Rita…” Elayne sighed. “Now let’s just sit down and enjoy a meal together. Then we continue. Weith Katherine we talked about two methods to go to Avalon…”
As Elayne sat down with her family and friends and enjoyed the food, she explained to everyone what she talked to Katherine, helping them understand the situation within Avalon, the many people that they might meet there, and also the plans regarding how to get there.
“So there’s a tree we could visit to get to Avalon? Well that’s much simpler than trying out your own dreams, Katherine…” Elena said.
“Y-Yeah! I suggest we should go to the tree…” Monica nodded.
“I am not really sure it could work though,” Katherine said. “But I feel a really strong connection with that tree and Avalon, it might be a secret portal there. One that has been mostly undiscovered? Or that perhaps only original inhabitants could access through. That’s certainly something King Oberon would do.”
“Sounds like a good plan,” Mark nodded. “If that doesn’t work then we would have to try the Dream Method… But if that doesn’t work either, what do we do then?”
“Even if it doesn’t work, then we’ll simply have to continuously try new things on different configurations or ways, until we can get to something,” Elayne said. “I am not giving up now that we’ve come so far…”
“Hmm, alright then,” Mark nodded. “I’ll help as much as I can… Maybe my Totem Magic could be of use eventually.”
“I’m in too… I mean we don’t get any other alternative anyway, right?” Rita wondered. “Also I kind of want to explore this forest. Can’t we?”
“We’re in kind of a hurry, so I wouldn’t explore it all… but on our way to the tree we could enjoy the surroundings,” Elayne said with a gentle smile.
“Alright! I gotta take photos of this- Eh? Why is my phone not working?!” Rita panicked as she tried to start her phone, but it simply wasn’t working.
“A-Ah! In other Realms usually technology doesn’t work that well… sometimes it can outright not even work at all,” explained Katherine. “I think it might have to do with the high density of Mana and other Energies, they might be making the technology humans make unstable.”
“What?!” Rita panicked. “But we’re inside a barrier!”
“Even then, the barrier doesn’t isolate you from those energies that much,” said Katherine. “It just is enough so you aren’t negatively affected.”
“I-Is my phone going to be okay?!” Rita panicked.
“I think… so? I don’t know,” Katherine sighed. “Sorry, maybe I should’ve warned you earlier about this.”
“Uuaaagh!” Rita started screaming.
“Hmm, maybe we could do something? Perhaps if we cast some kind of magical barrier around the phones…” Mark said.
“I wouldn’t be too confident on that; the magic might only end up making the internal functions of the phone worse…” Katherine said.
“That’s… a bummer,” Mark sighed.
“Wait…” Elayne suddenly got an amazing idea. “What if we use Potential Cubes into the phones? Like how Mark’s car became an amazing, invisible flying vehicle, we could do something similar with phones right?”
“Oh right my car! Maybe it would’ve been useful in here… Dammit, I should’ve brought it along,” Mark sighed. “Maybe if you stored it inside your Inventory… Ah, it’s too late anyway.”
“Ah well, don’t worry too much about it, we still got the flying broom stored in here!” Elayne giggled. “Anyway, what do you think of my idea?”
“Sounds nice! Do it! Anything for my phone!” Rita screamed, handling her phone to Elayne.
“A-Ahaha, alright… Calm down Rita.” Elayne giggled, taking out a Potential Cube from her Inventory. “Let’s see…”
