Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest - Chapter 1844: Ruler

Chapter 1844: Ruler
—–
“It looks like we got caught in something really nasty…” Elena’s mother sighed. “What’s more, the Holy Grail—a Divine Artifact forged from the souls of Heroic Spirits who die in the war—can grant any wish to the winner.”
“…Any wish?!” Elena gasped.
“Right now, my form can only be sustained as long as this ritual continues,” her mother lamented. “But…”
“If we can win the war, we can wish you back? And everyone else who died too?!” Elena’s eyes shone brightly as the realization hit her—this was her new goal. “We can do that?! Can we?!”
“C-Calm down, Elena…” Her mother sighed, gazing at the night sky. “Winning the Holy War isn’t something that can be done or even planned. There are currently seven other Spirits we have to watch out for, and that’s without even considering their Masters…”
Elena grew worried. “But what else can we do?”
“We can— Ah!”
Her mother suddenly stopped speaking. Her eyes snapped toward the distance.
RUMBLE!
“Huh? M-Mom?!”
Elena gasped and cried out in awe as her mother transformed the ground beneath them in an instant. A gigantic spirit tree erupted from nowhere, soaring dozens, then hundreds of meters into the sky!
FLAAASH!
Immense waves of spiritual energy and mana surged outward. Massive spirit trees sprouted around them, rapidly taking the shape of enormous Treants.
She gently placed her daughter beside her on a throne of wood and flowers, then stared into the distance. She sensed an overwhelming surge of divine and spirit power.
And curses.
“Looks like the others are already fighting.”
“Who?”
“The other Heroic Spirits. They’re killing so many people…! How horrible! What’s wrong with them?”
“Eh?!”
“We have to do something—for the people… for this world that’s crying out as these beings torture it…”
“I mean, I guess so, but—”
“No time to waste! Lives are in danger, Master! Spirits of the Forest! Nature and Life! Give me your strength!”
TRUUUM!
Unlike the mother Elena remembered, this incarnation was far more impulsive and radiated unshakable confidence.
With a single thought, Gaia decided to act. The giant tree she stood upon moved, sprouting enormous root legs and striding through the city like a colossal spider.
RUMBLE! BOOOM! CRAAASH!
“Mother, you’re destroying the city! Wait up! Hold on!”
Elena panicked, clutching her head as she stared down in awe.
“Don’t worry—nobody is here. Most people have evacuated, but there are still victims to rescue and—there!”
“Woah?!”
CRAAASH!
The giant tree reached the heart of Tokyo, striding past the towering Tokyo Skytree and arriving at the battlefield.
There, a slender man with long red hair wrapped in blood-soaked clothes wielded a red stone knife against a black-armored samurai.
Their Masters battled fiercely as well: a silver werewolf and a young Vampiress cloaked entirely in shadows.
However.
As they clashed…
“Heh! You’re getting slower, you damn bloodsucker! Come here!”
Ulric laughed, slashing at the Vampiress. She evaded by dissolving into shadow bats and unleashing red firebolts at his body.
His silver-colored sword ki, channeled through his claws, cut straight through her magic, shredding her shadows and briefly revealing her form.
She looked very young, with a beautiful face. Blood poured from a deep slash across her chest.
“Nnngh…! D-Damn it…!”
“Hehehe, damn brat, you shouldn’t have messed with the wrong wolf!”
Ulric laughed and swung his massive claws. She conjured magic to blast him away, but he kicked off the sky and charged back with a monstrous roar. His claws tore through her body again, covering her in deep slashing wounds!
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
“Aaaaaahhh!”
The young Vampiress crashed into a building. People fled in terror or were crushed beneath falling debris. She glared back at the werewolf slowly approaching.
He licked her blood from his claws with his long tongue, savoring the taste. “You’re not a pureblood, but a Dhampir, huh? And yet you’re so strong. Hmm, are you perhaps… Heheh, that woman Clementine’s daughter?! Haha… HAHAHAHAHA! To think I would feast on the blood and flesh of that brat!”
“G-Get away from me!” the Vampiress hissed, struggling to stand. Her wounds refused to regenerate—red cursed energy coursed through them. “This is your Spirit’s power?!”
“He let me have a bit of it~” Ulric smiled. “Now, little one… what was your name? Hirami? Harumi, right? Ah yeah… Anyway… Bon appétit! Gryahahaha!”
The wolf laughed and lunged for her throat. The armored samurai gasped.
“Master!”
He turned into dark purple lightning and rushed to her aid.
But his opponent matched his speed, appearing above him and slamming him down with a powerful kick.
CRAAASH!
“Nngh?!”
His mask shattered, revealing part of his true face. Berserker smiled faintly as hair fell over half his features.
“I see. So you’re not a man from these lands, yet you pretend to be? What sort of strange Spirit is this?”
“Nnngh…! I may not have been born here, but… my Master, and the people who helped me… allowed me to become a Spirit of this land!”
The man stood, blood pouring from his wounds as he faced Berserker, revealing himself fully.
A Black man.
“Assassin!”
“Master!”
Assassin screamed and leaped skyward, transforming into lightning to save his Master—only for Berserker to intercept him and kick him down again.
“Uuaagh?!”
CRASH!
He slammed into the pavement. The shockwave shattered streets and blew out hundreds of windows. Assassin gasped as the stone knife in his opponent’s hand began glowing with immense cursed power.
“This is it, Assassin! In the end, you could not surpass the curse of God!”
With wicked laughter, the First Sinner descended to deliver the final blow.
Ulric laughed at the same moment, his claws poised to rip into the girl’s throat.
And then it happened.
“That’s enough.”
A divine voice echoed through heaven and earth.
In that instant, plants erupted everywhere. From the smallest blades of grass, great trees rose into the sky.
The collapsing building was caught mid-fall as roots spread throughout it.
At the same time, despairing people and the gravely wounded were gently wrapped in grass and branches. Flowers bloomed over their bodies, infusing them with life force. Their pain eased. The aggression that had gripped everyone slowly faded, though wariness remained.
“What’s happening?!”
Ulric, Harumi, Berserker, and Assassin all looked upward. A gigantic tree had appeared out of nowhere. A woman resembling a goddess stood atop it, gazing down with absolute authority.
They felt an immense pressure unlike anything they had ever experienced in their entire lives.
