Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest - Chapter 1870: War

Chapter 1870: War
—–
War.
What is war?
By definition, war is a state of intense armed conflict between nations, states, or groups, characterized by violence, aggression, and the organized use of military force. It involves large-scale, deliberate combat—often with declared hostilities—intended to achieve political, economic, or territorial goals.
Most of humanity today despises war and views it as something that must never happen again: a barbaric practice that brings only death and suffering.
Yet, despite how deeply humanity claims to hate “war,” humans remain its greatest co-creators. Of course, war predates humanity—many animals wage it, especially ants, who fought long before humans ever walked this green Earth.
But that is beside the point. Humanity is war’s most enthusiastic participant, its most passionate hater, and its most devoted admirer. Humans live and die through war. Every achievement of their civilization rests upon it.
Between two or more groups of humans fighting to the death to seize one another’s possessions—or sometimes simply to prove they are not afraid.
Human nature is fragile. A single provocation can ignite the deaths of hundreds, thousands, or even millions. And none of those deaths are meaningless, humanity has carved its mark into history itself through them.
Across millennia, that history has slowly coalesced into something greater: a “concept,” the spirit of destruction, the very essence of war.
When Alice summoned it to this Holy War, she had no idea what answered her call.
Using the power of the Dark Grail—linked to her through the blood of her cousin—she violated the rules of the Holy War and summoned a ninth heroic spirit.
If it could even be called “heroic” at all.
While the Holy Grail enforces strict rules, this monstrous, corrupted vessel—created to birth seven new heroic spirits—had none.
When she summoned Him, she used no catalyst beyond a summoning circle directly tied to the Dark Grail.
Whatever emerged would be deeply rooted in humanity’s greatest sins and the accumulated darkness of its history.
And the first to answer, of course…
Was Him.
Who else?
Humanity’s greatest fan and strongest ally—and also its most bitter hater and deadliest enemy.
He loved humanity, yet He despised it.
He took the form of a demonized dictator who once brought ruin to millions, wearing a fragment of that history as His “mask.”
He… Yes, He was here.
There was no grand spectacle, no glorious arrival.
Just… a man, standing silently before Alice.
The Darkwood Fae stared at Him in stunned awe.
He wore a black-and-red military uniform and a black gas mask whose lenses glowed with crimson light.
In silence, He stepped forward. His boots echoed like distant drums. He spread His arms as though greeting an old friend.
“Who are you?” Alice asked, taking a cautious step back. Something profoundly unsettling radiated from this eerily quiet heroic spirit.
Until He finally spoke.
“War… ach, Krieg… my eternal companion.”
A slow smile curled beneath the gas mask—not cruel, but reverent, almost tender.
“Do you know what it truly is, Master?
Not merely battle. Not merely blood.
War is the heartbeat of humanity—the pulse that has echoed since the first spark of fire.”
He lifted His hand. Phantom banners unfurled behind Him, rippling in a wind that did not exist. Alice was startled that this servant never asked if she was His master—He already knew and recognized her as such.
“In peace, humans sleep.
But in conflict… they awaken.
They reveal their true selves—their courage, their fear, their hunger, their will.”
His eyes burned with feverish intensity behind the mask.
“I love war not for its violence, but for its honesty.
In Krieg, masks fall away.
Kings tremble. Peasants rise.
Nations scream their truths into the void.”
He paced slowly, like a general inspecting invisible ranks.
“Every clash of steel is a confession.
Every strategy, a philosophy.
Every victory, a declaration of what a people believe they deserve.”
He stopped and turned toward her with a gaze that felt both ancient and newborn.
“War is the great sculptor of history.
The smith that shapes empires.
The fire that tempers heroes… and forges monsters.”
His voice rose, swelling like a crescendo in a grand, terrible opera.
“And I—I am its echo, its avatar, its beloved child.
I do not crave destruction for its own sake.
No… I crave the revelation that comes with it.
The moment when humanity stands naked before its own ambition.”
He placed a hand over His chest, almost solemn.
“Krieg is not my weapon, Master.
It is my hymn.
My purpose.
My love.”
He bowed—a gesture both respectful and unnervingly theatrical.
“And if you command it…
I will let the world hear that hymn once more.”
In an instant, the fear in Alice’s eyes transformed into fascination.
Yes.
This was it.
Exactly what she had desired.
She had been shunned by the other spirits, by the fairies, by the Realm of Avalon.
All because she and her family were different.
“There’s nothing I despise more than humans, Avenger.”
“…”
She walked toward Him. The world around them turned into a sea of blood as millions of humans screamed in agony.
Explosions thundered. Buildings collapsed. Tanks rolled over bodies and cities. Bombs fell and detonated.
“I want humanity to disappear.”
“Oh?”
“I want nothing but humanity to die and leave this pure world for us… non-humans.”
The man beneath the mask smiled, eyes gleaming with fascination.
“Ahhh! Spectacular! Beautiful!”
He clapped like a madman—and He was—spreading His arms as His aura surged. The world twisted into a sea of fire, hell itself.
“Would you help me achieve that, oh Great Spirit of War?”
The heroic spirit smiled and nodded.
“YES!”
He was in love.
He had found a maiden so filled with madness, so consumed by hatred.
She was His perfect master.
That was why He had answered her call.
In this twisted Holy War, which had already abandoned every rule.
He was going to bring the world to its knees.
As He had always wished.
“Master! Let us destroy humanity! Let us trample the corpses of innocents! Let us dance in their blood and entrails!”
“Yes…! Let’s do that, Avenger!”
“Hahahahahaha!”
“HAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Their laughter intertwined, each amplifying the other’s madness.
And now, standing before Elayne, her daughter, and the many students she had protected…
They were about to prove they truly meant every word.
“SO RULER! LET US DO WAR!!!”
With wicked, gleeful laughter, His endless army surged forth.
Not only soldiers from World War II of every faction emerged, but also millions from Persian armies and their warlords, Chinese forces that once ended hundreds of millions, Spartans, Trojans, and countless warlords and pivotal figures from history—all roaring in unison as they led their troops into the greatest war the world had ever seen.
