“An investment without risk, can such a thing even exist in this world?” retorting to the immortal-like young man’s harsh reminders, the duchess replies with a wry smile on her face, feeling like even until now, this young man is still trying to push her offers away.
‘If it comes to this, perhaps I should really give up on pulling him closer in such forceful ways…’ she thought to herself in pity, thinking that she might’ve rushed everything too much which possibly leads to this moment that she just couldn’t help but feel like she’s hit a wall, and there might be no going back anymore from this point on.
Thinking like this, she already started thinking about the alternatives, at the very least considering how she can establish a proper rapport between her family and Su Xiaotian, and if lucky, with the women accompanying him as well.
Before she can even start going through this train of thoughts, though, she heard the immortal-like young man speak once more, the reply coming from him something she didn’t quite expect.
“Just information…” with eyes closed as he thinks about everything with a large consideration on his part, the immortal-like young man muttered while thoughts occupied his mind, reasons as to what sorts of things he should ask as a counteroffer for the things that this duchess previously offered, things that don’t really hold too much significance to him.
‘This should be the most important thing to me for now… I can get a read of the future from my dear little sister, of possibly even from myself if I completely awaken my memories, but now, I think that there are just too many things changing all at once that we might not be able to keep track of them…’
Su Xiaotian thought to himself as he started to wonder whether there’s also a purchasable system that functions like so in the Universal Shop System, truly considering whether it is worth buying such a thing, especially given the escalation of his Universal Coins that he has been saving for quite some time already.
Snapping himself out of this line of thoughts thinking that it isn’t all too important at this point, he then returns his attention to the mature, royal lady sitting across him, his eyes opening catching a glimpse of the lady’s complex expression, one that is a mixture of joy and relief, paired with the seriousness of consideration seemingly irreplaceable in her gorgeous face.
Interrupting this contemplation, though, he continues pushing through and imposes upon yet another condition that is more than likely beneficial for himself and the people around him. His voice covers the entire grotto once he opens his mouth again.
“Not only superficial and incomplete information, though, no, what I want is comprehensive information about things that I would ask in the future, don’t worry though, Miss Xiang, I will only ask about things when I know that they are information that your people can acquire with their ability.”
Su Xiaotian added, nodding as he thought that this should be enough for now, and in fact, even he himself knows that this is already wanting way too much.
Had it been any other person to say this condition in front of her when her side is already offering the best that their kingdom can give to a person not even in the high realms of the Mortal level, but rather a young cultivator of the Nascent Source Realm, she will definitely laugh it off, if she’s in a good mood, and should she be in a bad mood, she would’ve beaten whoever that proposes such ridiculous condition to pulp.
However, in front of this young man, she just can’t help but feel like any of these choices leads to the wrong path, thus prompting her to continue considering whether it is worth doing this much for a young man that she didn’t even properly know before she visited the Dao Seeking Mountains.
“Tian boy, you know that’s quite the request, right?” smiling wryly as she once again starts to get reminded of the fact that the only thing that can truly be considered young on this individual in front of herself is his physical body, his mind already that of an adult who seems to think ahead of what is happening just on the surface.
“I know, is it too much to ask, Miss Xiang?” nodding at the duchess’ question, the immortal-like young man reveals a confident smile in an answer to her helpless one, his figure relaxed, knowing that he has quite the upper-hand in this discussion, and that is despite the fact that the mature lady he is facing right now possesses a cultivation way ahead of his.
Silence falls within the entirety of the grotto as two people enter their own world, the immortal-like young man merely waiting for the duchess’ reply as she continues to fall into contemplation, the deafening silence nearly lasting for a minute, a minute that felt like days to Dongfang Xiang, thinking about this exchange.
In the end, despite her mind thinking that it might not be the best option she has, she still decided to go with her instinct, her intuition, the voice in the back of her head whispering to her that this young man is more than likely the biggest surprise that she had ever, and quite possibly, will ever, encounter in her life.
Deciding to steel her resolve as she formed such thoughts in her mind, she gritted her teeth and reached out one of her fair, dainty hands towards the immortal-like young man, an act that made said young man smile as he moved similarly to her, reaching out one of his large hands to hold hers in a firm, serious handshake.
“Don’t make me regret this decision, Tian boy…” she said with a serious tone to her voice before flashing a smile to him, an expression that is a mixture of mostly confidence and anticipation, along with an infinitesimally small mixture of threat within, a threat that even she herself might not really realize she is exuding.
“I look forward to working with you in the future, Miss Xiang…” With the discussion between the two of them finally coming to an end, with each party finding a middle ground for both, Su Xiaotian returns the smile as well, feeling quite pleased that she managed to strike quite a deal with this Celestial-level being.
“We should probably work around the exact details of this deal for later, Miss Xiang, the ladies… as well as your niece, seem to be interested in going inside this grotto as well…” diverting the attention of the two of Dongfang Xiang in front of him, Su Xiaotian remarks as he lets go of the duchess’ hand.
And as he do so, the lady then expands her senses to take a look outside, seeing what the young man in front of her is talking about, outside, near the entrance of this abode, three ladies of the same age as her niece takes a lead, behind the three of them yet another four of the same age, and one of those four, her niece, looks at the grotto with interest on her joyful, entertained, smiling face.
