Child of Destiny - Chapter 2052: Result of the Third Trial

Chapter 2052: Result of the Third Trial
……
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Boom!
The exchanges between Leonard and Gunner produced larger explosions in every collision of their weapons.
It was clear that Leonard had the advantage in terms of overall stats, but Gunner managed to bridge the gap by using his advantage when it came to multiple weapons.
Taking advantage of the variety of special skills attached to his weapons, he was able to prevent himself from being pushed back once again.
Alongside his constant swapping of weapons, he also kept on shifting his style to match the weapon that he was wielding.
Moreover, he never stayed on using the same weapon for a long time, making it hard to predict his next moves. In every swap of his weapon, the combat and mana manipulation techniques that he was using were also changing their natures, matching the styles that he was using.
However, these exchanges mostly lasted for only a couple of exchanges, forcing him to constantly swap his weapons, tossing them away right after a few clashes while catching the others that were being sent back to him.
This cycle continued while he persisted in fighting Leonard.
Leonard, on the other hand, continued with his relentless attacks, facing force with force and not backing down even for a moment.
He was like a real god of war, especially since he was continuously throwing his attacks at his opponent.
Roar!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The powerful collisions between the two lasted for quite a while, making them almost forget the real objective of this trial.
They only realized what was happening when another commotion occurred at the top of the altar.
BOOM!
Unknowingly, Chaotic Luck was forced to retreat away from the altar by the three assassins from the Hydra Guild.
No one had clearly seen what exactly happened. It seemed like Cobra had done something that forced Chaotic Luck to abandon his post, giving the trio a perfect opportunity to strike.
However, before they could even seize the throne, someone unexpectedly appeared right at the center of the altar and destroyed the throne that Chaotic Luck was supposed to occupy.
Adding that Chaotic Luck was forced out of the altar, it was time to change the ’owner’ of the throne.
Everyone was still in the middle of a heated battle, so they did not exactly know which side had taken over the throne at the very last second.
It was only when the other parties saw Leonard standing at the top of the altar alongside Aoki and Ryoto, who were also looking down at them from the platform, that everyone realized what happened.
…
“It seems like Senior’s skills are a bit too overpowered,” commented Leonard, understanding what just happened.
Aoki just shrugged his shoulders before answering. “It is all because of the help that your friend gave.”
Others might not know what exactly happened, but these three were clear about what truly transpired during those final moments.
Aoki had put a mark on one of the undead soldiers under Chaotic Luck’s command and let it return to its owner’s side before he had taken action during the final moments.
He was not sure how Leonard and Chaotic Luck had communicated with one another, especially when the two were engaged in hectic and chaotic battles. He did not dwell too much on the topic or inquire more about it since he knew that it was their secret.
…
Leonard felt a bit of pity because he was currently in the upper hand. If the battle lasted for a couple more moments, then he would have most likely beheaded his opponent right before they took over the throne.
He had to admit that Gunner was strong as an individual, particularly with the help of that strange metal box. But it was still far from fully matching all the powers of the absolute apex gods of the game.
Leonard looked at the digital clock displayed in the air and saw that there was still a little less than three hours before the trial ended.
“There is still a lot of opportunity to continue our battle,” he mumbled before sweeping his gaze at the surroundings, checking on the sides that their opponents occupied.
Finding the side that Chaotic Luck occupied was quite easy, especially when he was standing there alone.
Leonard gave a series of signals, which the latter immediately recognized since they were among the things that he had learned from Shin and the others.
Even though he was still far from memorizing everything, Chaotic Luck was still able to understand the majority of it.
After making sure that Chaotic Luck had gotten what he wanted to say, Leonard turned to Aoki and said. “I will leave the rest to you, Senior.”
“For now, let me finish the battle against that guy,” he added before swiftly sprinting toward the side of the members of the Black Market who were occupying and immediately jumping off the altar.
“Wait!” Aoki wanted to stop the latter, but this junior was too excited to listen to him.
Leonard was already descending from the air before he could even finish what he wanted to say.
Boom!
Not long after, massive explosions immediately erupted from that side of the battlefield.
It seemed like Gunner had accepted the challenge with open arms, not backing down in the slightest.
Aoki could only sigh helplessly, realizing they could not rely on Leonard for now.
Fortunately, Chaotic Luck was currently on their side, which could give them a lot of assistance for their current situation.
He was still in the middle of thinking about the arrangements that they were supposed to take when he saw Chaotic Luck rapidly rising toward the altar while riding one of his flying skeleton beasts.
Swoosh!
He did not have to give any orders through any hand gesture to tell the latter what to do since Chaotic Luck had already summoned his legion immediately after.
Chaotic Luck moved with great familiarity, continuing with his job and understanding what he needed to focus on.
Along with the two people by his side, he was confident that he would not be in grave danger, just like previous round.
…
Understanding the current situation, Aoki realized that the members of the Dragon Pavilion and Hydra Guild would never work together. They would rather let the other parties win than give the throne to each other.
No matter how much those guys wanted to prevent the members of Heavenly Resto-Bar from teaming up with Chaotic Luck, they had no means of doing so, especially when Leonard had already kept the members of the Black Market occupied.
These parties finally understood the words that the system had given them at the beginning of the trial.
Testing them to see if they could overlook their prejudice against one another and team up with their mortal enemies.
Both the members of the Dragon Pavilion and Hydra Guild wasted at least a dozen minutes before finally deciding to fight the opposing side by themselves while also taking advantage of one another.
They were planning to use the distractions that each party would use against the current ’king’ of this round.
Unfortunately, it had become much harder to deal with Chaotic Luck when he started properly working with Aoki and Ryoto, who dedicated themselves to defending him alongside the Hell Pilgrim, as well as the eight blazing skeletal apes.
It was at this moment that the two forces realized how troublesome Chaotic Luck truly was.
He and his legion were already very difficult to deal with, but this was further highlighted when he was working with other people.
With Chaotic Luck as a center and the elite people protecting him, dealing with his Legion of Chaotic Sun became even harder to deal with.
With the Hell Pilgrim and the eight blazing skeletal apes alone, the trio from the Hydra Guild had already encountered a lot of trouble trying to deal with him.
Now that his forces and he were working alongside powerful figures such as these two top-notch experts from the Heavenly Resto-Bar, especially Aoki, who was another legendary figure rivaling Khing and the others.
The battle was as intense as the previous round, if not more. However, due to the members of the Dragon Pavilion and Hydra Guild not willing to compromise and work together, they were unable to find any suitable opening that they could take advantage of, leading to their lost for this trial.
The Black Market did not care too much about this round, aside from learning more about the legacy of Dark King Tang Hyeon through the engravings displayed throughout the trial grounds.
They did not even care if they were last for this round and lose a member for the succeeding trials, since their priority was still the legacy in the real world.
In the end, the side of Heavenly Resto-Bar was the final winner of this trial, earning them double the points that Chaotic Luck was supposed to receive, as per the trial’s rules.
As for the other three forces? They did not get anything else aside from a series of losses.
