Child of Destiny - Chapter 2119 - 2119: Events Outside (Part 2)

…
Shin was unable to find any words to refute the others, knowing that all they were thinking about him was true.
It was true that he had not done anything for the development of his fief aside from securing the entire region and saving those residents who had been abducted on an uninhabited island near the coast of the Sky Deceiving Valley.
Everything was done by Shiella and her competent people, who worked extremely hard to develop the entire fief.
He was basically a duke in name, who was doing whatever he wanted while waiting for the money to fall into his pockets.
Of course, the others were basically the same, especially Arthur, Leonard, and Cloe, since they also had decent shares of the Golden City.
However, since Shin was the named duke of the fief, his significance was supposed to be the largest among the group.
After scolding and teasing Shin for quite a while, Cloe finally started telling him the events that happened in the Awakened Continent.
“Most of the players were concentrating on the war between the Righteous Churches and the Evil Factions at the Dark Cloud Kingdom,” she started before furrowing her brows. “However, some of the big guilds and other in-game organizations are taking advantage of this to expand further.”
“They are developing without being disrupted by any other forces. Even their rival forces are expanding quietly in another region.”
“However, at the same time, the regions with the richest resources become the most coveted places for these hegemons.”
Hearing this, Shin seemed to realize something and said. “So, these forces have set their eyes on the resource regions such as the Saint Heaven Kingdom and the Sacred Light Kingdom.”
Cloe nodded as she continued. “That’s right!”
“However, because of the huge influence of the Hand of Midas within the game Saint Heaven Kingdom, no other forces want to get on their bad side.”
“After all, Big Sis Shiella had expended quite a lot of resources to help the Saint Heaven Kingdom during the sudden invasion that the Corrupted Cult had launched into them.”
“Because of this, the Hand of Midas has gained quite a lot of influence in both the player base and the NPCs throughout the kingdom.”
“Every city within the kingdom has a branch of Hand of Midas, making them a household name within the kingdom.”
“Provoking them is the same as provoking the Royal Family, so no one dared to cause any trouble in the Saint Heaven Kingdom, especially when its capital, the Holy City, has been promoted to a Royal City just recently.”
Pausing for a moment, Cloe suddenly pouted before continuing. “However, some places are hard to overlook, especially when they are rich in resources.”
“Just like the Gold Mountain and the entirety of the Sky Deceiving Valley,” said Shin, realizing the situation.
“Your fief is a highly coveted place, especially when it is situated right beside a high-level neutral region, so it is only natural for those greedy forces to try seizing it for themselves,” nodded Cloe.
“Moreover, the surroundings of the Gold Mountain are reached on resources itself. Even the mountain itself is a strategic location, which makes it hard to siege,” added Jilian, feeling impressed at how Shin and Shiella had designed the city on top of a mountain.
Not only was it a strategic location meant to defend itself, but it was also designed to make the other people see how stunning the surrounding environment made it a good tourist destination.
Seemingly understanding what Cloe was trying to imply, Shin suddenly asked. “Are there forces that invaded our territory?”
Cloe nodded. “Not just one, but multiple of them.”
“That’s only understandable. After all, it is the only place that the players can use to reach the Frozen Kingdom,” commented Arthur. “It is one of the most famous grinding regions right now.”
“Not only are there a lot of hunting grounds and level spots there, but huge opportunities are waiting for them there, just like the Dragon Worshipper Religion and the corresponding Ascended Classes that they can get there.”
“There are also other Barbarians and Vampire Races as well, which have become quite famous recently,” he added, recalling the current trend at the forums.
Jilian nodded, acknowledging this fact. “The Gold Mountain is monopolizing the teleportation formations and controlling the transfer points leading to the Frozen Kingdom, so it is only natural that these forces tried to seize such a resource for themselves.”
“Heh! Unfortunately for them, our forces are not to be trifled with,” Arthur smirked, feeling that those guilds who tried to attack them were too stupid.
Not only did the Hand of Midas have a decent relationship with huge organizations like the Assassin Union, Heavenly Resto-Bar, and God’s Paradise. They had also partnered with multiple competent adventurer teams and mercenary groups, who were operating within the area.
One of them was the Brotherhood that Aragorn and Legolas had established after they had been forced out of the Central Order. They had created this group along with their close brothers, who had left with them.
There was also the Black Hounds under the leadership of Bryan, who had now become close ‘friends’ with Exheart and Hellban, who were famous Titled Rankers and known for having the ability to contend against Godlike Players and Maverick Gods.
Then there were the Eternal Hope, Secret Society, and Butchers, who were the groups that Shin and the others had worked with before.
There were also quite a few groups who were working with the Hand of Midas. They had stationed themselves in the Golden City, making it their main base of operation.
With these groups, the Sky Deceiving Valley had become one of the trouble-free. All the troublemakers and forces with evil intentions were unable to do anything.
The Assassin Union and God’s Paradise were more than enough to act as deterrence forces for most of these guilds, who were coveting the Gold Mountain.
As for the larger ones, who attempted to launch an attack at the Gold Mountain and the Calderock Port, all of them were beaten back and blue by these defending forces.
There was also the hidden force that Shiella had established. Deicide was a force to reckon with. They were operating in the shadows, eliminating the necessary threats that would give them any problem, while also focusing on the main tasks that Shin and Shiella had given them.
“However, those people from Corrupted Cult are appearing within our vicinity from time to time, seemingly trying to do something,” said Cloe, recalling that this was casually mentioned by Shiella when they were chatting earlier.
Hearing this, Molton seemed to have remembered something and immediately added. “Not only in the Saint Heaven Kingdom, but throughout the Aurora Continent.”
“Most of their forces are appearing everywhere these days. I even heard from the head librarian in the Imperial Library that the Evil Factions are becoming more active these days,” he continued before furrowing his brows quite deeply. “On the contrary, the Demonic Churches, which is one of the larger factions within the Evil Factions, seemed to have somewhat disappeared.”
“That is quite understandable. After all, most of their forces are directly related to the Demons of the Hell Realms, so they should be focusing on how to enter that realm rather than doing anything else,” commented Shin while thinking about the members of Pandemonium Descendants.
“Unlike those from the Corrupted Cult, the Demonic Players from the Demonic Churches would most likely want to explore the Hell Realms and strengthen their demonic powers,” he added, understanding what those guys were planning.
He then turned to Cloe and asked. “Are the forces from the Corrupted Cult creating trouble for us?”
Cloe thought for a moment before answering. “That is what I heard from Big Sister Shiella when we chatted previously.”
“Are they harassing us? I mean, are they targeting the entirety of the dukedom?” asked Shin before quickly adding. “Or are they trying to enter the Frozen Kingdom?”
Hearing this, Arthur, Leonard, and Cloe could not help but pause. They seemed to have processed his words for a while before suddenly turning to Shin almost at the same time.
“Are you thinking that it is related to that Empire Quest?” asked Arthur.
Shin shook his head before clarifying it. “No. It is more likely related to Dracula himself, and that so-called contract he has with that Great Demon King or something.”
He could still remember that so-called descent of the Devil Ancestor or something from his quest panel that he had no clue how to clear.
Aside from the counter that kept dropping and increasing from time to time, Shin did not have a clue about it.
Now that he might get some clue about this, Shin would not let it slip through their hands.
“I guess I have to ask Big Sis to keep an eye on those people. They may be up to something big,” he said before turning to Cloe. “Can you make some arrangements for it? Just ask Big Sis to let the members from Deicide handle it.”
Cloe glared at Shin, seemingly wanting to complain, but did not say anything in the end.
“Guys! Guys!”
It was at this moment that Lorraine suddenly came running down from the stairs and called to them.
“There is big news! There seems to be a huge event that occurred on the Dark Continent!”
