Child of Destiny - Chapter 2121 - 2121: An Old Friend?

…
Benedict skimmed through the data once again before continuing. “You are quite lucky. Or should I say that your father had built a perfect foundation for all of this while you were growing?”
“Anyway, all those things that you have said that you have been doing since you were young are a form of training, which helps you develop such a solid foundation for the talent itself.”
“Not only that. Even the things that you have been doing when playing the game further solidified this foundation and make it extremely tough.”
“As for the Hyperactive Immersion, it is the final trigger that produces such an extreme reaction throughout your brain, which also completes the final process.”
He then paused for a moment, seemingly recalling something, before continuing. “This artificially created talent is not just an ocular skill, but a mental skill as well.”
“It needs your eye and brain to work together to fully recreate that ‘virtual imagination’ into reality.”
“However, the entire process is extremely demanding for your mind and body, which puts your health in such a risky situation.”
“Not only does your body need enough nutrients to support this foundation, but your brain also needs enough stimulation to keep all your neurons active all the time, hence the Hyperactive Immersion is extremely needed for the final stage to be completed.”
“Once your body has completed all these necessary procedures, the final step is to make sure that your body and mind are in total harmonization, which will also require you to constantly train your body with a decent training method while your mind needs you to regularly enter the state of the Hyperactive Immersion.”
“Once everything is in order, you will be able to produce an artificial talent in the real world!”
Benedict could not help but become impressed by this research. He also could not help but admire Wade’s father for such dedication.
Not only did this research require a lot of time to produce such a result, but it also needed an untold amount of effort to calculate everything.
From his knowledge, only a few people could do such a thing. Professor Henry was one of them. But knew that it was also extremely challenging even for the professor to produce such a result.
There was also a taboo related to this research. The ‘Project Genius’, which used immoral experiments on live subjects just to produce a similar result.
However, in comparison, this artificial talent that Wade’s father had created was something that was tailored only to Wade himself and did not require such inhumane experts to produce such a result.
It was a specially tailored process to compensate for Wade’s lack of talent in terms of Martial Arts and Mentalism. Such a dedication was truly worthy of praise.
Benedict could tell that it was extremely hard to replicate, almost impossible even.
However, this was such a huge step that it would make a lot of people, or even organizations, go crazy.
It was no wonder a lot of organizations would want to get Wade. It was specifically for this method.
“I can’t help but feel envious of you,” said Benedict while patting Wade’s shoulders.
He then added. “With the help of your Hyperactive Immersion, you will be able to bring out some of your martial abilities within the game. Just make sure to thoroughly study the martial manuals that you are learning there and regularly train in the real world according to their instructions.”
“And let me warn you! Do not, under any circumstances, use that talent of yours in the real world unless the professor has permitted you,” he warned with full seriousness.
“At most, a minute or so is more than enough. But any longer than that will put you in extreme danger. Do you understand what I am saying?” said Benedict with a grave tone.
Wade understood what Benedict was worried about, so he did not say anything and just nodded his head.
He knew what kind of consequences he would have to pay once he overdid himself.
The two walked out of the research room. Benedict went to the storage room for a moment, taking a few serums meant for Wade.
“Here! Just use these serums according to the prescription that Professor Henry has given you,” he then handed Wade a huge briefcase before adding. “And don’t forget your regular training every day.”
“Even though the Hyperactive Immersion can make your brain believe that you are capable of those martial movements, your body still needs to adjust accordingly. They needed to be in full sync before you can truly call yourself a real ‘Martial Expert’.”
“I understand, Senior,” nodded Wade while taking the briefcase containing the body-enhancing serums.
After that, Benedict proceeded to chat with another. “By the way, how are the events in the main servers?”
With the current update of the game, not only those experts at the Void Manifestation Stage, Ruler’s Realm, and the Swordmasters were eligible to join the game. The beta testers could now rejoin the main servers by connecting the realms that they were on with the Atlas World.
In a sense, the beta testers were in a different world and were waiting for the dimensional tunnel to be established.
“Well, it is still all the same,” said Wade before quickly adding. “However, I don’t think that establishing those dimensional tunnels will be easy.”
He knew what Benedict was excited about, so he quickly added his thoughts about the situation.
“It is fine. So long as we can join the main servers, things will become even more interesting,” said Benedict, feeling quite excited about facing other talents from different parts of the world.
“How about the other matter that I have told you about?” he asked.
Wade thought for a moment before shaking his head. “I am not qualified to tackle that quest, so I mentioned it to the other members of our team.”
“At this moment, only Akialu is eligible to give it a try. Simba and Siegfried are not interested in it,” he added, recalling the discussion that he had with the members of the Empyrean Talons during their last meeting.
“Ah! That is too bad! I am sure that it will be quite related to the world that we are in. I am sure that that place has a clue about our server,” said Benedict with a slight disappointment.
The two chatted for quite a while as they walked out of the department. They then bid farewell to one another before heading toward their respective dorms.
Benedict watched as Wade walked away for a while before fixing his glasses. He then turned around and disappeared through his spatial abilities.
…
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Not long after, a few figures appeared from the shadows, one after another, looking in the direction where Benedict had disappeared.
“That guy is quite sharp. If not for ‘Number 11’ and his abilities, then we have most likely been discovered already,” mumbled one of them with a somewhat heavy tone.
“‘ Number 13’ and the others are already in position. We are only waiting for your command, ‘Number 9,’ said another, who was standing by his side.
The person, who was addressed as Number 9, briefly nodded his head before giving out his orders. “Tell 15 to 20 to secure the perimeter around the targeted location. Make sure that the isolation device is working.”
“We can’t afford to fail this mission! It is what the young master has personally instructed us, so any mistake is intolerable!” he warned with a sharp tone before adding. “Tell 13 and the others to start. They have to create enough disturbance to attract as much attention as they can!”
“Go!” he said before turning around and sprinting in the direction where Wade went.
…
While they were sneakily chasing after Wade, Number 11 suddenly asked. “Captain, what do you think the young master is thinking? Why is he willing to expose us this early when everything is going smoothly?”
Number 9 glanced at Number 11 before scolding the latter. “Imprudent! What right do you have to ask questions? Our job is to follow orders and nothing else.”
“Those people naturally have their own plans. It may be a pity that we are exposing ourselves this early, but I am sure that the young master has a plan!” he added.
After a while, the group finally caught up to Wade, who was still unaware of their presence.
“Number 12, go take your people and wait at the rendezvous point. We will be there in a minute,” ordered Number 9.
“Alright,” responded Number 12 before separating from the group along with his subordinate.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
The remaining group continued to stalk Wade for a while, seemingly waiting for him to reach a specific location, before making their move.
After a while, Wade suddenly halted his tracks because of a person standing before him.
He could not see the appearance of the opposing party due to their wearing a shadowy cloak that hid their entire being.
However, Wade felt that he knew this person for some unknown reason.
He was glaring at the latter with extreme wariness, especially when he could feel the intense danger filling the air.
The two stared at each other for quite a while until the opposing party opened its mouth. “It has been a while, old fiend.”
Hearing the voice of the opposing party, Wade’s eyes suddenly turned wide, unable to believe what he was thinking.
“You-… how come-…”
“Why are you here! And how are you able to find me!”
“Lucifer!”
