City of Desire [Kingdom Building] - Chapter 875: Two Enemies

Proofread by Thomas F
A long, thin, shining, concentrated beam of energy shot out of the crystal. The beam was amber, but there was a faint gold colour in it that was not there the last time.
The power I could feel from it is greater than the last time, and I didn’t even count on the primal resonance that is covering the beam.
It is a very powerful attack; the one I shouldn’t underestimate, and I am not going to.
I released the breath and gripped my blade hard, and was about to swing my blade in response, when Tempest neighed.
It surprised me not the neigh, but the underlying emotions in it.
He wants to fight the bear.
He could not; he is strong and is from a powerful bloodline, but there is a grade difference between the two. Not to mention Primal Resonance.
He didn’t have enough strength to go against it. Its lightning may be powerful, but there is a massive gap between them.
‘If that’s what you want,’ I thought.
I wouldn’t have normally entertained such a request here in this battlefield, but I could feel his resolve. If I didn’t help him, he would do it regardless; he is stubborn that way.
A moment later, aura came out of me and flowed into him. It is not easy. When we tried for the first time, I couldn’t even make it breach his skin.
This does not need only my control, but also his complete trust. I hate to say it, but over the past few months, we have made only basic progress.
Aura seeped inside him, and I felt his intention, and I guided the aura with it.
This is the progress we have made, but now, we are taking it further. I have never taken this far; it’s too dangerous. I wanted to fully control the first step before moving on to the second.
Now, he wants to go directly to that.
Soon, the aura reached his core, and I felt it. It had immediately blown my mind. It’s incredible, a furnace of massive power, that feels a step away from being unstable.
This is the monsters core of wild power; I have heard so much about it and even touched it, but not the living ones.
All those I have seen are taken out of dead monsters; this, on the other hand, is alive and breathing. I could feel the rhythm from it, which makes me feel small.
It’s hard to control the aura in front of such power and do something that could kill us both.
Still, I followed his intention, and my aura covered the core, not breaching it, but just covering the surface of it, which gave me an even clearer view into it.
I didn’t let it distract me and focused on the work. It’s hazardous; a mistake, and we might destabilize his core, and that would be the end of both of us.
The wild pure power came out of the core, and I moved my aura to merge with it.
We have never done something like it, but to my surprise, his wild power began to merge with my aura. It couldn’t help but shock me.
I have read about this process, and it is known to be difficult and dangerous.
It requires powerful control over the aura and energies. More than that, the trust, which is a greater requirement, but given how seamlessly it is merging, we both have immense trust in each other.
The power merged and spread through every part of Tempest.
I could feel the change, the fur became shinier, the bronze scales became glistering, and the bronze lightning; the arcs became thinner and denser.
Though the most significant change that occurred in him is his presence, it has become heavier.
I would have looked at the changes more deeply, but the beam had appeared in front of us, and I was about to tell him, while I readied myself in case he neighed.
As he did, the lightning flowed from its leg and formed a dense ball of lightning that shot toward the beam.
The two clashed, the next moment, creating a powerful blast while Tempest suddenly swerved before jumping into the air. I activated Aerial Drift, making him step on the air and avoiding the beam that came out of the explosion.
“That’s new!” I said.
The beam had turned off its path; it didn’t move straight like the last time. It could change direction now.
Not fully, but it could curve a path.
The clash, it had taken only around 60% of its power; the rest had come at us, and it was powerful. If it had hit us, it would have been very dangerous.
The bear roared and came at us, with its claws shining. It’s close, and its speed is fast, but Tempest landed before dodging the attack of the bear.
Tempest was already very fast, and now, with the boost of my aura, he had become even more powerful.
We just dodged the attack when the amber crystal on its head lit up again, and it released a beam, more.
This time, Tempest reacted fast. I thought he would send another lightning sphere. Instead, he moved to the left and avoided the beam by inches.
As we did, another was in front of him, but a ball of lightning was also ready and shot toward it.
A blasted formed and through, the weakened beam came out, which he dodged, but only to see three beams coming toward him, or rather us.
‘It was not able to do that before,’ I thought as I looked at the beams. Behind it, the bear charges toward us. Its angry, and I could see it wants to finish us off.
He could not dodge the beams. So, I raised my blade to deal with them.
However, at that very moment, he let out another determined neigh.
It was evident he intended to handle the situation by himself. I was about to object, my mouth opening to voice my concern, when something unexpected caught my attention.
I saw a large amount of energy coming out of his core, but that’s not what caught my attention.
No, it was the pulses coming out of it.
‘It can’t be!’ I said to myself, not daring to believe it was happening.
When I started Aura Fusion, I began learning everything there is to know about it and monsters. It is not related to aura fusion, but it’s very much related to the monsters.
Its core had started the process of advancement.
Every day, I had been looking for it; all the monster experts that checked him had told me that he was at the edge of his grade. His bloodline is also good.
I had spent quite a lot of money on feeding him diets and elixirs that could help with advancement, along with mist fruits and plants, which he loves.
Until now, there was no sign of it.
This is a sign, alright, and a big one. Usually, it starts faint and takes days or weeks, but most of the advancement are not uniform; it could take days or weeks.
It could succeed, fail, or stop mid-way in limbo. So, the advice is, if something triggers the advancement.
Don’t interfere.
The three beams will not be easy dodge and defend, but I made up my mind and pushed my aura into him as he demanded more; at the same time, I remained ready to deal with any killing blow coming at him or me.
He neighed, and his speed increased at the same time; lightning blazed across his legs.
He jumped into the air while at the same time sending a ball of concentrated lightning toward the beams.
The blast rang out, but soon three beams emerged from it. One is Pale, while others are at full power. They reached us when Tempest took the sharp turn, avoiding them, but appearing in front of the bear.
It was ready, and it attacked. Tempest moved, but fiery claws tore through his back, barely avoiding my legs.
I could have defended against it, but I didn’t. Since he wants to fight it, I will let him fight.
The bear attacked again with beams, and Tempest moved. I was watching them when I heard the massive roar shaking the battlefield.
‘Lord Silver, finish the monster and come to help me,’ Ignatius’ voice rang out in my mind. I turned and saw him attacking the Voltwing Tiger.
It had not even been a minute since the battle began, and things did not look good against the Voltwing Tiger.
I may have been fighting against a bear, but I had eyes across the whole battlefield. I had hoped that with his advancement, Ignatius would be able to handle Voltwing Tiger, but I had underestimated the monster.
Ignatius may have made a massive jump in strength, but the monster is more powerful.
I looked at the bear, and I could kill it; it won’t take me more than a minute. Even less, but if I did, there is a good chance the momentum of advancement will break.
It is becoming greater and greater, every second.
If Tempest advances, I will have a Lv. 40 monster; it will help me tremendously and the dominion. It is the only reason why I didn’t attack it.
Now, Voltwing is showing more of its power, and I have to help Ignatius; he alone wouldn’t be able handle it, even with the powerful artifact he has.
I have to help him, but I can’t move from here. My aura is the only reason Tempest is fighting the Bear.
Not to mention focus; I have to be focused on the monster. So, I would be able to react fast against the attacks that come to harm him and me.
‘It leaves me with only one choice,’ I said with a sigh.
It is a dangerous thing, the one I have never used in the battle, but it is the only thing that could help me right now.
I didn’t think too much and activated the skill.
Parallel Thoughts.
Immediately, I separated my thoughts into two sections. The first section focused on the Bear, while the other one focused on Voltwing and the Battlefield.
This is a dangerous skill that broke the minds of countless mages, powerful mages.
A battlefield isn’t the place, I should use it, but it is only a skill I have that will help me fight two enemies without losing focus on the one.
