Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1597: Divine Intervention

Chapter 1597: Divine Intervention
Dame was locked in a brutal, continuous fight with the Masked Man. Utilizing his full Hybrid form and drawing on the intense, raw power channeled through the Gauntlets, he became a whirlwind of destructive energy.
He continuously zapped around the enemy, using bursts of electricity to propel himself, throwing the Masked Man through several crumbling buildings. When he couldn’t get close, Dame resorted to swinging his powerful arms, firing out invisible, concentrated Qi hits that slammed into the mage from every conceivable direction.
The Masked Man, though visibly hurt and perpetually staggered by the sudden, overwhelming blows, still managed to pull off firing out a focused golden energy blast once in a while. Large, predictable beams Dame was easily able to evade, immediately using the opening to get another devastating hit in from the side. Meanwhile, the smaller energy beams, though they managed to strike his body, were doing next to no actual damage to his reinforced Hybrid form.
It was becoming glaringly clear that this was an incredibly difficult match-up for the Cerebus elite. A rising sense of annoyance was starting to show as the Masked Man fired off large, desperate beams of energy that hit nothing but the buildings surrounding them.
“Are you sure I’m going to be the one that runs out of energy first!” Dame roared, landing another solid blow. “Surely, with you constantly firing away your magic and healing your body, at some point that perpetual power supply has to stop!”
Coming down from above like a compressed lightning bolt, Dame hit the center of the mage’s stomach and sent him crashing into the ground. Then, the rest of his arms descended in a relentless, furious torrent, continuing to punch the stunned enemy.
The Cerebus member had never faced an opponent like Dame before. The bizarre movement, the chaotic use of his fists, it was nearly impossible to predict because he was fighting against a Pagna warrior, and one who was considered strange and unorthodox even by established warrior standards.
Still, Dame couldn’t ignore the logical flaw in his own strategy.
He is right, this lightning body uses a lot of my Qi up, Dame thought, the electrical current draining his reserves. That’s the major downside of this form. I have a lot of Qi, but I fear that out of the two of us, I might be the one who runs out of energy first before him. Is there no other way I can win this fight?
That was when a dangerous, desperate idea came to mind, a technique only those who hailed from the legendary Neverfall Clan were said to be able to execute.
Since he was currently winning the exchange, it was worth the enormous risk to try it out.
“Let’s see you recover from this!” Dame shouted with a savage grin, preparing the secret maneuver.
Elsewhere on the massive battlefield that raged across the Underside, one more key member of the defense team was facing off against the final Masked Man, and that was Safa.
She had pulled out her Lux Spear and held it ready, while the rest of her body seemed to be lightly encased in an armor of shifting, stone-like energy. The Lux Spear was the perfect conduit, combining her innate powers with Stoney, the mythical item. And, most importantly, she had the powers of a Divine Being running through her very essence.
That wasn’t all. Safa was naturally talented, capable of cultivating Qi on the go, and she was proficient in Light Magic to the point where she possessed the legendary God Eyes. She was extraordinarily talented, one of the true “chosen people” in the world, and she was clearly displaying the full scope of her gifts on the battlefield.
Right now, Safa stood on one of the shaky bridges that crossed over the filthy, toxic river that divided two major sectors of the Underside. Opposite her stood the Masked Man, only this one looked to be in genuine pain and distress.
One of his protective energy wings had been destroyed and, critically, it wasn’t regenerating. The Masked Man looked tired, strained, and panicked.
“What type of monster are you!” the masked man cried out, his voice laced with confusion and pain. “How are you able to completely disperse my flow!”
An energy blast shot out from his palm, but Safa moved instantly, thrusting her Lux Spear forward. She sprinted across the bridge, channeling her Qi, until she was right next to her enemy. Finally, she shoved the Lux Spear, stabbing it right through the Masked Man’s chest.
The typical flow of energy, the constant swirl of Light Magic that was meant to instantly heal and restore him, was surging around the wound. But then, the flow began to stutter, to choke, and finally, it stopped. It was all because of Safa. Her eyes sparkled with a piercing, ethereal light.
She was forcibly moving the Light Magic away from the wound, disrupting it from within the core of the Masked Man’s body.
“I know why your bodies have endless energy and are healing so fast,” Safa calmly stated, her voice quiet but carrying utter authority. “I don’t know the process, but it’s almost as if you’re just a ball of pure Light Magic itself, constantly replenishing.”
She leaned in, the tip of her spear still embedded in his chest. “But you see, for me, I can see the flow of the Light Magic, how it moves around you, how it intertwines with your essence and your body.”
“I have the God Eyes, and thanks to Raze’s tutelage, I have become incredibly skilled at controlling my own Light Magic. Lastly, my Light Magic isn’t just powered by simple mana; I have the power of something Divine running through my body. My power is stronger than yours, and that is why you lost!” Safa declared, pulling her spear away.
The moment the spear was removed, the Masked Man’s body instantly began to disintegrate. It was as if his form was breaking down into pure energy, and that power began swirling and moving directly toward, and straight into, Safa herself.
