Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1727 Raze's Breakthrough (Part 1)

Chapter 1727 Raze’s Breakthrough (Part 1)
The Breakthrough, it was the first time that Raze was using it against an opponent since he had reached the nine star stage himself. He had always wondered what would happen to him when he had reached the nine star.
In truth he felt that his breakthrough from the past was a fake one of sorts. It allowed him to unlock his power that he once had, giving him the power of a nine star mage. He had no idea why that came to be.
Maybe the spell mixed his soul in with the Raze’s current body he was currently in place with, but he knew one thing, surely something had to change once he reached the nine star level.
Since he would have had all of his old powers back. His breakthrough now had to be different, and there was an even bigger change compared to the past, it was the fact that now he had a dark core.
The moment Raze activated the breakthrough he could feel almost all of the stars bursting inside him at once that surrounded his heart, each one lighting up violently before collapsing inward. It wasn’t a calm surge of mana like before. It was chaotic, crushing, as if something inside him had been waiting to be released. Then the Dark Magic began consuming his entire body and his mana started flowing outward in uncontrollable waves.
The ground around his feet for a second was partly destroyed, crushed by pressure almost like gravity itself had intensified around him. Cracks spread through the stone floor beneath him and dust exploded outward. But then slowly the dust started to lift up like space had reversed direction, small particles floating upward instead of falling.
Then it was Raze’s skin. Cracks of black light could be seen shining through it, thin glowing fractures like something beneath was forcing its way out. His veins were starting to bulge with darkness, black energy pulsing through them visibly under his skin, and blood started to seep out of his nose as the pressure built inside him.
Part of Raze would have wondered if he had done the right thing. If Dark Magic’s base was on destruction, could a Dark Mage even use a Breakthrough? Would the Dark Magic eventually kill him, destroying his own body from the inside out?
The thought flashed through his mind as more darkness surged outward. His muscles tightened, his chest felt like it would collapse inward, and his vision flickered at the edges. If that was the case, then he might have to use his time reversal spell to stop the Breakthrough as if it had never happened. But then what would he do to fight Trubin?
The time magic wasn’t something he could rely on, because the amount of time he would need to be in his breakthrough would be longer than that of the time reversal to fight his opponent. He guessed that if he reversed it mid-combat, he would simply return to the same disadvantage again.
And there was another issue as well. Raze had already tested his breakthrough, and during it, he wasn’t able to use time magic. That was why he knew he wouldn’t die, at least he hadn’t died last time. But that didn’t mean it was safe.
Then out from his veins and the gaps that appeared to be in his skin, magic was swirling out of his body. It wasn’t spilling randomly. It was controlled, stretching behind him like threads. Dark strings extended from his back, thin at first, then thickening as they pulled together, forming something larger.
Although the Breakthrough felt like something that was taking several minutes for Raze, it was something that happened in a matter of seconds. The pain, the transformation, the violent shift in pressure, it all occurred almost instantly.
And the moment it did happen a pulse of magic burst out in all directions.
The shockwave ripped across the battlefield, flattening loose debris and sending a ripple through the air itself. This was how a breakthrough was able to stop those that were close from attacking. When that wave had hit Trubin he had protected himself, dark and lightning magic flashing defensively around him.
Now he could see in front of him what Raze had become, or what his breakthrough was.
Now Raze stood there with dark strings coming off and floating from his body, twisting slowly in the air. Behind him there was a large orb of darkness suspended in the air. It appeared to be destroying everything around it. The air near it warped slightly, and slowly, its power of dark magic was taking in the dust from the ground and pulling it inside, almost like that of a black hole.
The surface of the orb wasn’t smooth. It shifted constantly, swallowing light around it, making the area seem dimmer, heavier. Even the mana in the air felt like it was being drawn toward it.
“You think this changes anything, the fact that you have used a Breakthrough just means you’re in a desperate situation!” Trubin claimed.
As he flung his arms out and out from his pores several red orbs of flames went in every direction. The flames burned intensely, hovering in the air before stabilizing. Then spreading them out again dark orbs were now floating in the air, hundreds of them forming a layered assault.
Trubin was going for the same trick that he had managed to use last time. All of the orbs started to fire magic at Raze and it was as if hundreds of mages were attacking him at the same time. Fire bolts, dark pulses, waves of destructive energy filled the sky and converged toward one point.
Then, Trubin would use his Lightning and Dark magic to attack Raze as well, intending to combine it again like before.
But before he even did that, all of the attacks, although they were targeted to hit Raze, strayed from their path. One by one, as they neared him, they bent slightly, pulled off course as if gravity itself had shifted.
All of them moved heading into the black orb behind him.
The orb consumed it all. Fire vanished without explosion. Dark pulses disappeared without impact. Mana dissolved as it touched the surface. It absorbed the spells completely, turning them into nothing, and not a single one touching Raze.
The battlefield grew quiet for a brief second as the last of the attacks were swallowed.
“Thank you for the magic power!” Raze said as he lifted his sword, and an immense amount of mana could be felt.
The dark strings behind him tightened and the orb pulsed once, faint ripples spreading across its surface as if feeding him directly. Raze swung his sword down, and a massive strike, almost similar to the abyssal strike attack, was sent out in Trubin’s direction only there wasn’t a hint of Qi.
It was all pure magic coming out.
