Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1728 Raze's Breakthrough (Part 2)

Chapter 1728 Raze’s Breakthrough (Part 2)
The attack went out fast and wide straight off Raze’s sword and consumed a large area in front of him. The sheer force behind it carved through the air, warping the space as the Dark Magic expanded outward like a tidal wave. Immediately, Trubin had used wind magic to push his body to the side, twisting midair as the blast tore through where he had just been standing. He saw the Dark Magic narrowly missing his own body and space, the ground behind him crumbling as it was swallowed up.
“That amount of Dark Magic is overwhelming, it’s expected of a breakthrough to do with a Dark Core, but there’s something different about it.” Trubin thought as he could see Raze holding two swords in his hands and the large black ball right behind him. The air itself felt heavier, as if gravity had subtly shifted toward that floating sphere.
Immediately, lifting up his hands, Trubin gathered the lightning and Dark magic, sparks snapping wildly between his fingers. The elements resisted each other for a split second before bending to his will, and then clashing his hands together he formed them to create the Dark lightning bolt. He hurled it out through the air, and it went in a zigzag shape, splitting and rejoining as it traveled forward.
The lightning was so versatile it would be hard for any mage or even Pagan warrior to counter it, as it seemed like its movements were random and impossible to follow. It darted left, then sharply veered right, splitting into forks before merging again, all while surging toward Raze’s chest.
When it went to hit Raze though, rather than striking his body, it was swept in, absorbed by the Dark ball of magic again. The moment it touched the invisible pull around him, the bolt twisted unnaturally and was dragged backward, disappearing into the sphere without even grazing his skin.
“Trubin, this will be your downfall, even if you are the strongest mage in existence, what are you going to do, when magic doesn’t work!” Raze claimed, as he charged in, with Qi powering his legs and he went straight for Trubin’s position. His feet cracked the stone beneath him with each step as he closed the distance in an instant.
Seeing this, Trubin shocked the floor with a mass amount of lightning. He also used earth magic in his other hand to form cracks all across the floor, jagged lines racing outward like a web. Then lightning sprang up through the cracks, sparkling in several directions, forming a chaotic forest of electric pillars between the two of them.
Due to the mass amount of lightning magic, some of it got absorbed into the large object that was behind Raze, but some of the attacks didn’t just shoot upward. Smaller arcs split off and struck from the sides, ricocheting unpredictably. As the attacks were smaller though, even as they hit Raze’s body he continued heading forward, the strikes burning his skin yet not stopping him.
When he got close, he swung his sword down. A mass amount of magic was struck out, a compressed wave that tore through the space in front of him, and his blade went right through Trubin’s body. Only for it to turn out to be made completely out of water. The figure collapsed into a splash, droplets scattering across the shattered stone.
When Raze turned to his side, he could see Trubin with his hand held out, real body revealed, and he shot out a massive large fireball spell. The flames roared forward, swelling in size as they traveled.
The attack didn’t even go to Raze though and went absorbing into the ball again. The flames twisted violently midair and were swallowed whole.
In return Raze thrust his sword forward and like a beam it had hit Trubin in the center of his stomach. Several barriers could be seen activating in rapid succession, layers of magic stacking over one another in shimmering shields. But the Dark Magic smashed through it all, hitting him in the pit of his stomach like a spear, and sent Trubin flying back, his body bouncing off the ground and skidding across broken stone.
Raze’s breakthrough was certainly something special. In a lot of ways what it reminded him of, was the properties of Dark Qi that Murkel was able to use. His attacks so strong in Dark Qi, that it had a pull and gravitational effect, dragging things inward without effort.
The Dark Ball behind Raze was working the same way. It would sway all forms of magic towards the Dark ball, the pull subtle at first but absolute once something entered its range. Not only that though, any magic used against it would then be converted into mana, and the threads connected to the ball would all go back to Raze, powering him further. The dark strings floating from his back pulsed faintly as energy flowed through them.
While in his Breakthrough state though he could only use Dark magic, but as long as his enemy tried to attack him, he would be able to stay in his breakthrough form as he absorbed more mana. The more magic Trubin used, the longer Raze could sustain this state.
This was quite different to other breakthroughs that were out there. Magic against Raze in this state was practically useless. And with Raze also being a Pagna warrior fighting with his swords, he could use his skills without having to worry about any attacks that were placed on him. Every offensive spell thrown his way simply strengthened him.
The thing was, with Trubin being out on the battlefield fighting amongst wars with several mages, he was quite used to avoiding attacks, and doing his best not to get hurt. He had survived countless battles not by brute force alone, but by precision and control.
As Trubin stood up from his position, blood was seen out from the side of his mouth. He wiped it away with the back of his hand, eyes narrowing slightly.
“I think that’s the first time I’ve been hurt, in a long time.” Trubin claimed. “Magic doesn’t work against you. I imagine that’s what you’re thinking right now, but do you really think that’s the case?
“What you are using right now is magic, and remember I have Dark magic as well.” Trubin claimed, knowing it was going to be a tough fight ahead of them, Trubin lifted his hands in the air.
“Breakthrough!”
