Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1729 Skill Vs Hard Work

Chapter 1729 Skill Vs Hard Work
When Turbin lifted his hand, in the sky, a mass amount of energy wrapped out from his body covered in Darkness stretching further and further up. The Darkness did not rise slowly either, it surged upward violently like smoke pulled by an unseen force, twisting and spiraling as it climbed. From the battlefield everyone could see what was happening, a giant vortex of Mana reaching the clouds, and then when it spread out it covered the sky in complete darkness. The light from the battlefield dimmed almost instantly, as if night had been forced upon them.
‘I wondered, when I first saw Trubin, whether he was a mage with a Dark Core. Just because he knows dark magic and his dark magic affinity is extremely high, doesn’t mean that his core is a Dark Magic one.
‘One’s affinity can never go higher with an element than what its Dark Core is, and if I was to take a guess based on what skills he’s used so far, his core is either Lightning, or Dark Magic.’
As the sky was covered in darkness, lightning started to sparkle from the clouds, but they were black in colour. They started off small at first, thin streaks cutting across the sky silently, until eventually the lightning began to strike down from the clouds crashing into the floor.
It crashed not just in the area where Raze and Trubin were fighting but they were crashing all over the entire battlefield, and what was strange about the lightning itself was it made no sound. There was no thunder, no crack, no warning before impact. Only a silent flash, and then destruction.
As the lightning came down fast and hit its target on the floor, it practically evaporated the person into nothingness. There were no screams, no lingering bodies, just a flash of black energy and then empty space where someone once stood. The black lightning was just like what had been used on Raze, but a stronger mixed power of Lightning as well as Dark magic.
Somehow this was silencing the lightning effect and it was breaking through whatever barriers or Magic was being used against them. Some of the Pagna warriors lifted their shields above their heads, thick with enchantments and reinforced with mana, but the lightning struck through hitting their whole bodies still eliminating them. The shields shattered like glass before they could even react.
“What is going on?” Alba said. “What is this level of power?”
“I guess this is to be expected.” Cronker said appearing by her side. “No wonder, Raze had been obsessed with getting stronger when he was in Pagna, because this was the type of enemy he had to go up against.”
As the lightning continued to strike it then went to strike down where Raze was, and the attack seemed too fast, it wasn’t getting absorbed or pulled into the giant orb. Instead it struck right in front of his foot hitting the ground. The stone beneath him disintegrated instantly, leaving a crater that spread outward in jagged cracks.
“It looks like this might be too much for you to handle!” Trubin claimed.
As lightning continued to strike down, and when it did he moved his hands. The lightning mid air as it was descending changed angles unnaturally and went right towards Raze. It bent as if guided by invisible strings, shifting direction in sharp unnatural turns.
He quickly moved to the side, avoiding one strike and then when another strike went to hit him, he attacked it with his sword swinging it through. The blade cut into the descending bolt, and the impact shook his entire body.
The sword hit the strike but the strike was powerful as it split around his blade and pushed him back like he had been hit by a violent Dark pulse. His feet dug into the ground as he was forced backward several meters.
“I’m sure you can tell, that this breakthrough has the property of both Dark Magic, as well as my lightning magic, but as you were a professor and one of the best at the central Academy I’m sure you’re thinking that’s not possible right?” Turbin stated.
As four lightning strikes came down at the same time towards Raze, and then when Trubin moved his hands all of them aimed towards him. They descended in perfect alignment, boxing him in from every angle.
Seeing this, Raze waited for the perfect time and then swung his swords down with extreme force almost attacking the floor itself. The motion sent out a burst of Dark energy, breaking the lightning bolts that were directly above him, and as for the ones that went to attack him from behind they were absorbed into his own Breakthrough, the black hole dragging them in before they could strike his back.
‘I see, his lightning is just moving at an extremely fast rate, and has Dark magic covering it, but if the attack gets too close to the Dark hole it will still have its effect.’ Raze thought. ‘I guess he didn’t even expect that.’
“Raze!” Trubin said. “The Darkness destroys everything, and that included my own magic core. My magic core was originally of the lightning attribute, but as I increased my affinity with it further and further something strange started to happen.
“It was as if the Dark Magic was overpowering my lightning, it was getting rid of the core, and it brought it to its current state that it is now, but it didn’t make me weaker it made me stronger!”
Raze had never heard of such a thing, but had he gone up against anyone who had as much Dark Magic power as Trubin himself. In the past he had only scuffled against him maybe twice.
Once, when he had first seen him over his dead wife’s body, it was hardly a scuffle as Trubin had disappeared, and the second time it was when Raze knew his location and tried a surprise attack, it didn’t work and Idore was close by so he had to escape.
Raze probably had a mass amount of Dark Magic now for his core to do the same thing, but his core now was originally Dark Magic. The situation between them was not the same.
“None of that matters!” Raze said. “What matters is who lives today…and I need to make sure to kill you no matter what it takes!”
