Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1734 The Last Grand Magus

Chapter 1734 The Last Grand Magus
Finally, Raze had gotten his revenge as he looked on the fallen Trubin. He remembered reading quite a bit and watching movies in the past, that talked about how after completing such a thing there was still a bitter taste in one’s mouth, that revenge didn’t truly fill the gap that had been left behind and that there would always be something missing no matter what. Raze understood what they meant, because even now, looking at Trubin’s lifeless body, Sabrina was still gone, and nothing he did would change that fact.
Although that might have been true, the pain still didn’t go away, but a big relief was felt each time Raze had taken out one of the Grand Magus, and taking out Trubin who had directly been responsible for Sabrina’s death was one of the biggest reliefs he had experienced so far. It wasn’t joy, and it wasn’t some overwhelming happiness, it was more like something heavy that had been sitting on his chest for years had been lifted just a little bit. Each Grand Magus that fell made it easier to breathe.
It felt like he was close to accomplishing his goal, to at least giving all of those people that had suffered at the hands of the Grand Magus, those that were close to him a little bit of comfort wherever they were. He didn’t know if there was such a thing as spirits watching over the living, but if there was, then at the very least they would know that someone had stood up against them.
‘Doing things for the ones you care about?’ Raze thought. ‘He had to be talking about Idore. For as long as everyone knew, Trubin was always loyal to Idore, and did everything he said.’
There was no denying that Trubin had been incredibly talented, yet instead of carving out his own path, he had followed Idore without question. Raze couldn’t help but think there was more to it than simple loyalty.
‘It makes me think that there are more secrets than I need to care about.’
There was a chance, that Trubin could have been Idore’s lover or maybe even part of his family. After all, Idore was a mage that had lived an incredibly long life, he had to be close to at least two hundred years of age at least. For someone to live that long without any cost was impossible, and Raze knew that better than anyone.
No doubt, using either the illegal substances that Gizin had, or enchanted items to prolong his life. Because Raze still remembered the marking of Idore before he was the Grand Magus, visiting the Underside. That symbol, that presence, it was not something that belonged to an ordinary mage.
And Raze had grown too old to continue to keep up a fight, but a large part of that, was the Dark Magic that Raze had used along the way. He had gone through a lot of mistakes with Dark Magic he didn’t know about and in particular a lot of the curses that effected his health quicker than others. Each spell, each forbidden technique had chipped away at him, shortening his own lifespan in exchange for power.
But still, finding out that Heino was the last emperor of Alterian, and lived in Pagna, having a connection with Alterian and the Grand Magus somehow. Raze wouldn’t be surprised to learn, if Trubin was Idore’s son and Idore had lived just as long as Heino.
‘Maybe Trubin was Idore’s back up? If Heino ever decided to go against him with Alter and headed back to Alterian. Idore is a smart person and he would have figured out that Dark Magic was a weakness to the time magic. That might be why he pushed Trubin down that path.’
It would make sense. If Idore understood that time magic had counters, then preparing someone who specialised in a different path, someone strong enough to deal with threats that time magic struggled against, would have been the logical move. Idore had always planned several steps ahead.
Regardless of all of these thoughts it still didn’t change one thing, that there was now only one person left on his target list. The long road that had once seemed endless had narrowed down to a single name. He thought just like the past Idore would have shown up to stop him, but Raze had faired better against Trubin than he thought.
Trubin had been powerful, but not untouchable.
‘I only have some time left in my breakthrough, after that my mana will be completely used up, I won’t be able to fight for some time. I have to take out Idore now.’
The energy inside him was still surging from absorbing Trubin’s mana, but he could feel the limit approaching. Breakthrough forms always came with a cost, and once the fuel ran dry, there would be nothing left.
With Idore floating in the air, and slowly coming towards where the others were, everyone even though they didn’t really know who this person was, but everyone could tell that this person meant trouble and the first person who was near enough about to face him was Dame.
Dame had just used a large amount of Qi along with his lightning body to crush one of the golems which had crumbled to pieces right on the ground. The shattered stone lay scattered around him, dust rising into the air.
Idore stopped for a moment to look at it.
“I see, the warriors from Pagna have been causing quite a bit of trouble, at the same time, the mages were unable to stop them from reaching the towers, in this case that means that both need to be punished!”
While Dame was on the ground he could see the large chunks of earth from the Golem being lifted up in the air. When he looked up, it was quite clear who was the person responsible for it.
The large chunks were now surrounding all of Idore. And then he lifted his hand placing them up higher in the air. With one hand a circular ring like object was seen, and then he threw it up towards the objects.
“Enlarge!” Idore said.
As the ring object went up, a pulse went through the air, and then all of the large rocks grew in size, nearly three times as big as they were almost looking like giant asteroids that were frozen in the air.
Right after that, Idore swung his arm out, and the large giant rocks were covered in flames.
“Some things need to be destroyed to grow back stronger!” Idore said as he swung his hand down, and the giant flaming rocks started to descend.
