Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1777 The Extraction

Chapter 1777 The Extraction
Several intense thoughts were rapidly spiraling in Raze’s head as he stood quietly surrounded by the four hostile immortals, and in particular, he was deeply wondering exactly what Safa’s experience had been as soon as she crossed the barrier and finally got here. Was she incredibly lucky that maybe when entering the Divine Realm she had simply materialized in an open, empty piece of land completely far away from these predatory factions, or was the reality much darker, and maybe she had spawned directly inside the territory of another Clan that was currently forcing her to do the exact same thing these armed men were trying to do to him?
“If I can manage to avoid fighting right now, it would definitely be for the best,” Raze commented aloud as he deliberately tried to calm himself down, keeping his hands resting neutrally at his sides. “I simply don’t have the time to blindly follow you and participate in your faction’s political shenanigans. I have absolutely no intention of joining any group up here, unless you can immediately tell me exactly where the young woman I described to you is located.”
The veteran men in charge of the Kondo faction patrol that had intercepted Raze already knew exactly where this conversation was going. It certainly wasn’t the first time they had dealt with this exact arrogant attitude; after all, those warriors that successfully entered the Divine Realm had just recently reached the absolute peak of the mortal world of Pagna, so they mostly assumed they were still incredibly strong and completely untouchable.
And at times, the legends were actually true, and these newly ascended warriors could even easily best the lower-ranking guards that were already established in the Divine Realm for a certain amount of time, which was exactly why the recruiters didn’t ever come out to introduce themselves on their own, and instead, they always came heavily armed as a squad of four to ensure complete numerical dominance.
Knowing exactly how this standard recruitment process went, they knew right now that the absolute only way to get through to the stubborn person standing in front of them was physical submission, to forcefully show him what it truly meant to now be at the bottom of the food chain in the Divine Realm.
“You arrogant idiot!” the lead man shouted angrily as he suddenly charged forward, the paving stones cracking slightly beneath his heavy boots as a massive amount of dense Qi was rapidly swirling and gathering around his clenched fist, and the heavy strike was aimed right at the center of Raze’s chest.
Seeing this aggressive, lethal intent, Raze immediately started to gather his own internal Qi, swirling it through his meridians in the exact same defensive way, but he didn’t stop at just using his cultivated Qi. He also instinctively started to tap into his deep core and use his Dark Magic, and it was very visible to the naked eye as the black energy rapidly swirled around his arms like thick smoke, and using both of those overwhelming forces in perfect synergy, Raze simply reached out and effortlessly grabbed hold of the charging man’s energized hand, stopping the devastating punch completely dead in its tracks.
“Do you happen to remember this specific detail?” Raze said coldly as he effortlessly held the struggling man in place, and he stretched out his other free hand as a blade made of pure dark energy and steel seamlessly formed into his grip almost entirely out of thin air. “You guys were the ones that decided to attack me first.”
Without a single moment of hesitation, Raze aggressively lifted up his materialized sword and swung the dark blade down diagonally with immense, terrifying force, hitting the man directly across his chest. The faction member wasn’t afraid in the slightest; he fully expected his hard-trained, immortal Qi body to easily take the blunt impact and suffer very little damage, which was exactly why he was extremely unafraid, acting with complete arrogance, right until the dark sword effortlessly cut right through his flesh and bone like it was nothing but warm butter.
His immortal body was brutally sliced completely open, and the man fell heavily to the paved ground, no longer living, as his blood pooled quickly across the immaculate stone blocks.
‘It appears that my Dark Magic is just as incredibly effective here in the higher dimension as it is down in Pagna, so I clearly have a massive tactical advantage here as well,’ Raze thought to himself, looking down at the dead body.
In the Divine Stage, there were still three distinct stages that strictly defined how powerful people were within the hierarchy: Stage 10, Stage 11, and the absolute peak of Stage 12, and he naturally imagined that most of the regular grunts that were given this type of mundane border patrol job were simply sitting at the bottom of Stage 10.
Since Raze was also currently sitting at Stage 10 after his recent ascension, but added with his unique, overwhelming magic power flowing through his veins, he was exponentially far stronger than these ordinary faction members standing in front of him.
“How in the world did he just kill the captain so easily?!” the other three men shouted in sheer panic as they instinctively took a fearful step back away from the blood. “He’s just a newly ascended Stage 10 warrior, right? He absolutely has to be, he only ascended into the realm just now!”
“Then how exactly do you rationally explain what we all just saw him do?” another guard stammered, his hands shaking slightly.
The remaining three men quickly realized they couldn’t waste much time standing around in shock, as they frantically started to bring out their own polished weapons from their sides to defend themselves.
“It was clearly just a lucky fluke! The captain had arrogantly let his guard down, or maybe this kid specifically specializes in assassination-like arts and his entire focus is completely based on pure, burst strength! The three of us working together will definitely be able to easily take him out!”
Believing their own desperate rationalization, the three of them all charged aggressively towards him at the exact same time from different angles, but Raze was more than ready to seamlessly use his magic-like skills along with his honed Pagna abilities to take them all out, and it quickly appeared that the brutal fight didn’t take long at all.
One guard swung a heavy polearm aiming for Raze’s legs, while another thrust a spear toward his throat, but Raze effortlessly sidestepped the spear, grabbing the wooden shaft and snapping it in half with his bare hands before using the broken splintered end to stab the spearman in the shoulder, channeling dark magic through the wood to paralyze his muscles entirely. The man with the polearm missed, striking the stone floor, and Raze immediately stepped heavily on the weapon, pinning it down before delivering a devastating spinning kick that completely shattered the man’s jaw, sending him crashing into his remaining comrade.
They were absolutely no match for Raze’s overwhelming speed and power at all, and within moments, their bodies were badly beaten, bruised, and deeply cut, leaving Raze to calmly walk up to one of the surviving men he had hurt incredibly badly. The guard was currently groaning in agonizing pain on the floor, and Raze aggressively lifted the bleeding man completely up into the air by the collar of his purple shirt.
“You… you must honestly think you are some type of untouchable monster just because you are surprisingly able to do something like this to a patrol squad,” the battered man coughed, spitting blood onto the stone despite clearly having already lost the fight entirely. “But people exactly like you, the arrogant ascendants who quickly gather a lot of unwanted attention in this realm, are always the very first ones to be ruthlessly eliminated by the higher-ups.”
“If I manage to get a lot of attention up here, then maybe I’ll be able to quickly find the exact person I’m looking for,” Raze commented with a cold, uncaring expression. “Now, where exactly will I be able to find the specific information regarding her that I’m looking for?”
The terrified man’s eyes involuntarily glanced behind him, looking directly at the rather large, sprawling building in the distance which Raze correctly assumed would have been the main faction base. Whether it was the central headquarters of the entire faction or simply just this area’s specific type of subsidiary outpost, Raze honestly didn’t care in the slightest.
Instead of asking another useless question, he immediately activated the dark extraction technique as he firmly placed his hand on the man’s chest and started to aggressively absorb the core energy of the person trapped in front of him.
The man’s body horrifyingly started wrinkling up, his skin sagging and drying out as his pure, immortal Qi was forcefully ripped from his meridians and directly added to Raze’s own growing power reserves, flooding his dantian with a completely new level of dense energy that made his dark magic feel even more potent than before.
“I absolutely won’t make the foolish mistake of leaving people who actively wish to kill me alive behind my back,” Raze said coldly as he finally dropped the wrinkled, lifeless husk of the man to the ground. “And I will definitely make sure that I don’t ever lose the things I care about again. If Safa has indeed been captured by one of these arrogant factions, and their leaders are as incredibly strong as you claim they are, then I’m going to have to selfishly take every little bit of energy I can possibly get my hands on to fight them, aren’t I?”
