Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1780: The New Danger

Chapter 1780: The New Danger
Without a doubt, Raze knew that he was looking at the real Safa. It wasn’t some illusionary spell that had been placed for him to think he was seeing her. It was actually her.
“You actually came,” Safa said as she wiped the tears away with her sleeves. “There was a part of me that thought you might have not come, and I was fine with that… or at least I thought I was fine with that,” she said as she continued to sniffle, interrupting nearly every word.
Her voice trembled, and even though she tried to steady herself, the emotions she had been holding back for so long were clearly coming through.
As Raze stood up, he went ahead and embraced her in a hug. He didn’t accept a hug from her, this time, it was him hugging her.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done. You really looked after me when I was stuck in this new world, so I couldn’t leave you here, not when I didn’t know what could be happening to you. So give me the chance to now look after you.”
The two had embraced the moment of reunion, Raze making sure she was okay. He looked her over carefully, checking for any signs of injury, but she didn’t seem to be harmed in any way, and he was surprised.
He figured it had something to do with Bofan, and as the two of them sat down, they were eager to learn more.
“I was looking for mages that would enter the Divine realm. I always have been,” Bofan explained. “You see, there are certain points when people ascend into the Divine realm. They’re not exact, but nearly every individual, when entering the Divine realm, arrives around these points.”
“Each of the locations are, of course, as you found out, controlled by the factions that exist up here. However, I am quite a tricky person for them to deal with due to my magic spells.”
“So I am able to enter and leave these places, as you have seen, and I had set up a few things to alert me if there was ever any detection of magic in these places. Before you, Raze, I had met up with Safa.”
“Since she had used the powers of her Light magic, I had saved her, and we have been here ever since. She had spoken to me and told me a lot about you, Raze, and I had a feeling you would eventually arrive here.”
“So please, tell me about your journey, from when you first arrived in Pagna.”
There was a lot that Raze knew about Bofan, following his journey. A mage that had become stuck in Pagna, who had built his own faction and had enemies after him. Someone who had created a number of precautions because he had fallen in love with Pagna.
Not wishing for Pagna or Alterian to be destroyed, he did everything he could to stop that. So in a way, Raze felt like he knew what type of person he was, and he freely told everything.
All that he had found in Pagna, the journey to the island, and getting his hands on the Golden Globe, and what they had eventually done with the Golden Globe as well. It was quite a story.
Raze didn’t skip over anything. From the people he had met, to the enemies he had faced, to the choices he had been forced to make. Each step of the journey had led him here, and saying it out loud made him realize just how far he had come.
“I have to say, I am pleased that things worked out the way I intended them to,” Bofan said. “The situation might not have been one that you were aiming for, but for you to best the Alter organisation, to come across the Bonum Society, and to even defeat those in Alterian that were wishing to use the Golden Globe… you have surpassed my expectations, to be honest.”
“There are some things that are sad to hear, the death of Belil. He was a dear friend to me, and it seems I had managed to ignite a change in him as well, but he lives on in you.”
Bofan paused for a moment, as if remembering something, before continuing.
“I am not a Dark mage, but I learned Dark Magic as a way to combat those that were after it. Dark magic seemed to have the best effect, even against warriors.”
“I knew a group of mages would eventually be after it as well, which was why I had created the Dark Edge sword arts. Your Dark Edge sword arts, I saw it from before, the power has surpassed what I can do, most likely because you are truly a Dark mage.”
Raze didn’t respond straight away. Hearing that from Bofan, someone who had created the very techniques he was using, held weight. It wasn’t praise that could be taken lightly.
“But I have to be honest with you, there is still a problem,” Bofan continued, his tone shifting slightly.
“You said you left the Golden Globe with your allies in Pagna… The Divine realm, they know about the Golden Globe, and if they know your friends have it, they will do everything they can to get their hands on it.”
The words lingered in the air, heavier than anything else that had been said so far.
Raze clenched his fist slightly as he heard this, understanding exactly what that meant. The danger hadn’t been left behind in Pagna, it had followed him here, and worse, it could now be heading straight toward those he had left behind.
The reunion, the relief of seeing Safa again, it was all real, but so was the reality of the situation they were in.
Nothing had become easier.
