D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad - Chapter 2125 Green Your Eats

Chapter 2125: Chapter 2125 Green Your Eats
— Green —
It had to be an inability to run away right? At this point Green didn’t know what else it could be. She’d gone to sleep and told Timmy to wake her up after an hour had passed or the people below her looked to be in trouble… and it seemed like that hour had passed. The two familiar had upped their game massively, and proved that it was indeed a ’last attack’ type deal, or something close to it.
The two canines were standing some distance away, and would kick a rock at the golem just as it was about to reach the other one. It would then attack, turn around, and rush to the one that had thrown the rock… only for the cycle to repeat once again. It wasn’t like the rocks were doing any damage when Long’s sword continued to fail at the same. Not that Shoal seemed to be doing any better. She was still running in circles and while she looked fed up and annoyed, she didn’t really look tired. Apparently she’d managed to work out how to dodge efficiently enough for the stamina cost to even out.
Long just seemed to not care. He was still going at it. He was now slamming the pommel of his sword into various spots on the golem, apparently deciding that using it like a makeshift mace was an acceptable idea. Weirder, he wasn’t just holding it by the handle, he was using the sword edge itself. Sure he had metal gauntlets on but surely that wasn’t the best way? Then again with all the enchantments perhaps on it, perhaps there was one specifically for this.
It did seem to do damage to the golems. For a given definition of damage. When it impacted, the pommel exploded, denting the golem slightly. It was progress… for about three seconds. After that, the golems started to heal up and it wasn’t like a slight dent was slowing them down at all.
*So what’s got them stuck on this? Like surely if it hasn’t worked after an hour there’s something you’re missing right? I don’t know where these golems came from but I’d bet good money that there’s some secret power source you can easily break near where they were unleashed.
And these guys just… aren’t looking for it? I mean, golems can’t get too far from their power source. It’s either inside, or in a really fancy setup to transmit the instructions and magical energy over a distance. Except… this is Thyme we’re talking about. I suppose it’s possible they have a tiny tunnel in space in their chests that connects to some major power source that’s hidden somewhere in the city.
Though at that point, why not just try and trick them into jumping off the edge? We’re not too far away from it and I saw a few holes here and there you could also use. Sure it wouldn’t necessarily disable the golems but I doubt they can easily get back up. They look too heavy to jump.
Though I suppose if Thyme wants to be really mean about it I could see them being able to fly. Which… yikes that would just be exceptionally rude wouldn’t it?* Green shifted her position a bit and ran through a mental list of all the equipment she picked up. One of which, was a rust grenade. Knowing the golems existed and were potential targets made it more appealing…
But she really had no idea if it was strong enough and helping these two seemed like a bad idea. *The problem is that they’re obviously a team and trying to add myself to it is likely to end badly. Also, Long is wearing the exact same armour as before so he either had great stuff before, or nothing good enough was found to replace it. I think Shoal also has the same stuff… but that I’m less certain of. Not even using any weapons makes it hard to be sure.
So what am I doing? I’m still starving on a roof and these guys don’t look to be done any time soon. I could leave… but this seems like a great chance to knock one of them out. The worry then, is that they have a dog that can track me with scent. I… don’t think any of the random rewards I grabbed come with scent marking?
Supressing sure, that’s baked into the armour but it’s more for not getting caught before I shoot not after. If they get up here they can catch my trail and follow it wherever I go. Though… maybe I just dive off the edge? I’ve got the equipment to survive that and they might not. I also have things to ensure that I should be fast enough to get away…
But Long is decked out and I’m not certain I can escape him. I’m also not sure my interference will be enough to take him out. Fuck, why am I waiting around here again? Oh right, because there’s no easy way to get food up here and I wanted to grab some of the monster corpses to cook.
Hmmm… well the golems obviously didn’t start here… could I backtrack a bit? The corpses, much like the road, all look to be quite banged up now so I wouldn’t even want to try eating any of those ones… but further back perhaps? Then again if they were out in the sun all day… monster meat isn’t appealing at the best of times. Dammit. I don’t know what I was hoping for but perhaps that nap was a bad idea in hindsight. Should’ve just sent Timmy off to grab a corpse and then booked it and hoped nobody noticed.
Can I still do that? Send him off to find food? It’s certainly not related to any orb tasks NOW. The main worry is if there even is any. Preservation enchantments are great but they’re not ’freeze something in time’ good. Except, once again, Thyme was responsible for setting all of this up and the crazy city has pocket dimensions and space expansion all over the place. Maybe everyone has time stopping cupboards. I didn’t really check… fuck it I’ll check.*
“Timmy, can you scour the building below me for food, put everything else you moved along the way back, and then return to me?” asked Green.
Timmy vanished at the command and Green settled in to wait for a bit. Keeping an ear out for any loud noises below her. She didn’t exactly ask Timmy to keep quiet but she was hoping that Timmy wasn’t going to be too loud. After about a minute where nothing below her was knocked over, Green turned her attention back to the fight and… did Long just try to BITE the golem? That man was crazy…
In the end, it took ten minutes for Timmy to make it back to the roof and there was food. Technically. Green sighed as she looked at the remains of what was once probably a fruit. There were also some packaged things that were now just mould. The box of biscuits… seemed fine. At a glance anyway. Green was scared to open it lest she be tempted to eat whatever was inside. Especially when she couldn’t smell anything from the box. Even just looking at it, whispers of ’it can’t be that bad’ and ’you are kinda hungry’ were running around her head but she was NOT in fact that hungry. “Return those to where they were please,”
Timmy vanished once again and Green sighed. *So at the very least bullshit preservation isn’t something that was available to everyone. It makes sense sure but it does mean I’m still hungry which is a problem. Hmmm… I wonder if any of the other important buildings have food stores? Surely the answer is yes… but I don’t want to go back inside the two I’ve already visited. That seems like a great way to starve until I cave and get Thyme to heal me… or at least provide me with food.
Hmmm… I’m not too short on orbs… do I just concede for a bit and accept that as payment for food? Does Thyme provide food? I don’t know if that was ever established… I mean, he offered medical care, and surely the correct way of treating starvation is food. Then again, I’m not really starving on a technical level… and maybe not a medical one.
With my Rank I can go quite a while without food. It’s not fun, and slightly painful because your stomach still feels like its trying to eat itself… hmm… yeah no unless it’s been at least an extra day best not to risk it for a bit of food.
So back to where I was before… do I try to do something with this fight or just ignore it? I wonder if I can ask Timmy to find a large concentration of food and lead me in that direction? Or perhaps just a potentially edible monster list… hmmmm yeah that could work.*
