Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1019 - Death at the Door

Chapter 1019 – Death at the Door
With a single, effortless strike, Liu Wuxie froze the four women in place.
Their stunned expressions revealed their disbelief. None of them had imagined Liu Wuxie to wield such power.
“Take me to them,” Liu Wuxie ordered, his voice sharp enough to freeze the air.
The temperature seemed to plunge in response.
“Kill us!” the four women shouted in unison, their voices resolute.
They would rather die than lead him to the two women.
Their reactions confirmed that Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi were there, hidden inside the Half-Moon Nunnery.
“Please, don’t kill them,” the little nun pleaded. Liu Wuxie had trapped her momentarily with his Spatial Dao Art, and she’d already recovered.
“Give me one good reason,” Liu Wuxie said, his sword still pointed at the four nuns’ throats.
“I’ll take you to them… just don’t hurt my Senior Sisters,” the little nun choked on tears, her voice trembling with emotion.
She offered to lead Liu Wuxie to Murong Yi and Xu Lingxue, provided he spared her senior sisters.
“Little Lan, take him inside, and we’ll never speak to you again!” one of the four nuns snapped, her voice sharp.
“But…” Little Lan hesitated, torn between loyalty to her sisters and fear of what Liu Wuxie would do to them.
“No buts! He doesn’t have the guts to kill us,” one of the nuns said with bold defiance.
If Liu Wuxie harmed them, their master would hunt him down.
Liu Wuxie narrowed his eyes. “My patience is running out. I’ll let you live—for now. But what happens when your purity is defiled? Will your dao hearts still hold together?”
A dark smile curled on Liu Wuxie’s lips as he stepped forward, lifting a hand toward one of the nuns. “Killing you would be mercy,” he said coldly. “But shaking your faith will be worse.”
“You dare?!” As Liu Wuxie reached for their headscarves, the four nuns nearly screamed.
“Take me to them unless you want to be humiliated,” Liu Wuxie warned. He had already wasted too much time and needed to end this quickly before more experts showed up.
“I’ll take you! Just stop!” Little Lan sobbed and turned to lead Liu Wuxie deeper into the Half-Moon Nunnery.
“Sorry about this,” Liu Wuxie said, sealing the four nuns’ true essence before they could react.
“Your acupoints will unlock on their own in fifteen minutes. It won’t harm you,” Liu Wuxie added before following Little Lan inside.
The extreme cold of the north forced him to release them quickly, or he risked harming their foundations. Fifteen minutes was just right.
He had come to rescue Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi, not to harm anyone. He still didn’t know why they had come here, and he would decide what to do only after learning the truth.
The little nun guided him along winding paths and through countless courtyards. Though the Half-Moon Nunnery was massive, they still hadn’t found the two women even after fifteen minutes.
“Don’t blame me for what happens if I don’t see them soon,” Liu Wuxie warned. He saw through the little nun’s scheme. She had delayed him on purpose, giving her senior sisters time to recover and raise the alarm.
“We’re almost there. I need to grab the key behind the founder’s statue,” Little Lan said, leading him into a grand hall dominated by a towering statue.
The statue had no clear gender, neither male nor female, and represented the founder of the Half-Moon Nunnery.
Liu Wuxie initially accepted her explanation as retrieving a key made sense if the women had indeed been confined. But when a full minute passed and the nun didn’t reappear, Liu Wuxie’s instincts flared.
Something was wrong.
He dashed behind the statue but found nothing. The little nun had escaped through a hidden passage. There was likely a secret passage that had allowed the little nun to flee.
Then the bell rang, crisp and melodic. Its chimes echoing across the mountain and rousing everyone.
“Damn it!” Liu Wuxie growled. He had hoped for a quiet rescue, but now, it was heading straight toward battle. If forced, he would raze off the entire Half-Moon Nunnery without hesitation.
The bell startled Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi during their cultivation. But as soon as they emerged, a middle-aged nun stood in their way.
“Junior Sisters, return to your rooms. It’s unstable outside, and you’ll only frighten yourselves,” said the middle-aged nun.
“I’ll repeat, we’re not your Junior Sisters!” Murong Yi snapped. They had never agreed to become part of the Half-Moon Nunnery.
“That doesn’t matter. Master has made her decision. You will shave your heads and join the Half-Moon Nunnery tomorrow,” the middle-aged nun said flatly.
The two women froze. They would rather die than be forced to shave their heads.
“We’re grateful your master saved us, but you can’t force us into something we never agreed to. Just give up,” Xu Lingxue said coldly, her brows furrowed.
She didn’t know why these people wanted to force them to become nuns.
“Since my Master saved your lives, the least you can do is stay and show some gratitude. She won’t mistreat you,” the middle-aged nun said, trying to sound persuasive.
……
The bell’s rhythm grew frantic as shadows swarmed outside the hall. Within moments, dozens of figures rushed in and surrounded the building.
“These three intruders barged into our nunnery. Kill them all!” roared the four women, now recovered and seething with fury after their earlier defeat.
They felt humiliated because they had failed to subdue Liu Wuxie, even with all four of them joining hands.
Liu Wuxie glanced outside and saw a crowd packed around the hall. The little nun who had led them there was the weakest among them.
The rest were elite cultivators, and most had reached the upper levels of the Spirit Profound Realm, and some had already stepped into the Quasi-Earth Profound Realm.
Experts filled the Half-Moon Nunnery.
“You two, stay close,” Liu Wuxie warned Miao Jianying and Ji Qiu.
A massive platform stretched outside, but the crowd held back, afraid that a battle would wreck the building.
Liu Wuxie swept his gaze around. The crowd consisted entirely of women, ranging from teenagers to cultivators several centuries old.
“I’m not here to start a massacre. Walk away while you still can,” Liu Wuxie warned with the Heretic Blade in hand. If they dared block his path again, he’d make them bleed for it.
“What arrogance! I’ll kill you!” shouted an old nun at the Quasi-Earth Profound Realm, hurling her spiritual whisk at Liu Wuxie and releasing a barrage of needle-like energy strikes.
“You think you can kill me? Don’t make me laugh,” Liu Wuxie said, his voice laced with scorn.
Since these people wanted a fight, he would grant them their wish. He knew he had to inflict pain on them to make them hand over Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi.
“Frost Dao Art!” Liu Wuxie tapped out with his finger, unleashing an icy ray that froze that old nun in place.
Even a Quasi-Earth Profound Realm cultivator couldn’t lift a finger against him. Miao Jianying and Ji Qiu exchanged a shaken glance.
Back on the Divine Sword Platform, Liu Wuxie had held back his dao techniques. Had he used them, he would’ve slain Yin Xue with ease.
“Elder!” the nuns cried out in panic.
They had never expected Liu Wuxie to defeat their elder in a single move
The other nuns were stunned into silence by the overwhelming display. They knew that Liu Wuxie could easily kill them, and they couldn’t do anything to him unless someone at the higher levels of the Earth Profound Realm came.
However, Northern City was unlike the Central Plains. Cultivators at the higher levels of the Earth Profound Realm were exceedingly rare in Northern City, and none had attained the Heaven Profound Realm.
People considered even second or third-level Earth Profound Realm cultivators as peerless experts.
“Bring them out, or die!” Liu Wuxie roared as his murderous intent surged like molten mercury, flooding the space with oppressive force.
The nuns recoiled as Liu Wuxie’s murderous intent crashed into them.
“What arrogance! Who dares kill here?” a white-robed elder snapped, appearing before Liu Wuxie in a flash.
Liu Wuxie narrowed his eyes. This elderly nun matched the description of the one who had taken Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi to Northern City.
“So, you’ve finally shown yourself. Where are they?” Liu Wuxie growled, producing the portraits of Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi.
The old nun narrowed her eyes as she gazed at the portraits hovering in the air. She was clearly taken aback that someone had traced Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi to this place.
She said, “They’re here, but they shaved their heads and became my disciples half a month ago. You’re too late. Since you know them, I’ll spare your life.”
Liu Wuxie staggered at her words, nearly collapsing. If they had truly taken the vows, they could never return to their old lives and never stand beside him as his wives.
“Lies! They’d never choose this! You forced them, didn’t you, you witch? I’ll kill every last one of you!” Liu Wuxie roared. He didn’t care how strong the old nun was. Nothing could stop him now.
“How dare you insult our Master!” the nuns shouted, drawing their swords at Liu Wuxie as they stepped forward.
“Damn right! I’ll slaughter everyone here and raze this place to the ground! This is what happens when you cross Liu Wuxie!” he roared, his voice thundering like a dragon’s cry that shook the entire mountain.
No man could stay calm after hearing his wives were forced to become nuns, especially when he had already shared an intimate bond of a married couple with Murong Yi.
Liu Wuxie’s voice thundered across the mountain, reaching Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi as they returned to their rooms.
“It’s Big Brother Liu!” Xu Lingxue cried.
Murong Yi recognized it, too—his voice was unmistakable, even from afar.
