Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1020 - Destruction

Chapter 1020 – Destruction
At first, the two women thought they were imagining things, but the clash of battle quickly confirmed otherwise.
“It’s Big Brother Liu! He has come for us!” Xu Lingxue exclaimed before dashing out toward the railing.
“The two of you can’t leave without Master’s permission!” the middle-aged nun said, stepping in to block their path.
“Forgive us!” Murong Yi and Xu Lingxue attacked together and drove the middle-aged nun back.
Though the nun stood at the peak of the Spirit Profound Realm, Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi met her head-on without faltering.
Through sheer diligence and talent, they had advanced to the seventh level of the Spirit Profound Realm.
The two attacked in perfect sync and forced the middle-aged nun into a defensive stance. She held back, afraid of injuring them. Her master had ordered her to watch them and block any attempt at escape.
“Master showed you kindness and even planned to name you as her successor. Is this how you repay her?” the middle-aged nun snapped.
Her master’s favoritism toward the two baffled her.
“If she truly treated us well, she wouldn’t have imprisoned us for over a year!” Xu Lingxue retorted.
Although the old nun provided them with abundant resources, she kept them confined and under constant surveillance.
“If you had agreed to the ordination from the start, Master wouldn’t have locked you up,” argued the old nun as she continued to block their path.
The mention of ordination ignited Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi’s fury, and they attacked with renewed ferocity. They fought in perfect sync, each striking with enough power to challenge foes beyond their realm. They drove the middle-aged nun back step by step until she stumbled into a wide-open courtyard.
……
Outside the main hall, Liu Wuxie faced off against the old nun, his murderous intent surging around him.
The old nun’s claim that she had already ordained Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi sent fury surging through Liu Wuxie. After all, he had promised his parents to bring them back safely.
“It looks like you need to be taught a lesson today. Did you think the Half-Moon Nunnery is somewhere you can come and leave as you wish?” The old nun snapped and lashed out with her whisk.
She infused her strike with the power of the third-level Earth Profound Realm. In Northern City, cultivators at her level ranked among the top experts, and few had surpassed the fifth-level Earth Profound Realm.
But Liu Wuxie had already subdued Wang Shen and turned him into a loyal follower. Though he would feel some pressure against someone at the third-level Earth Profound Realm, he could hold his ground.
They clashed violently, but Liu Wuxie held back from lethal strikes. Each time the old nun attacked, he parried with ease, refusing to yield.
The surrounding nuns stood frozen in shock, wondering where this man, strong enough to stand against their master, had come from.
“Old witch, don’t make me slaughter everyone here!” Liu Wuxie snapped, his patience wearing thin. He feared Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi faced greater danger the longer he delayed.
Without hesitation, Liu Wuxie unleashed the Great Five Elemental Palm, a colossal palm that surged down from the sky. He had planned to suppress the old nun in a swift strike. But he didn’t stop there. He blasted her with Frost Dao Art, then warped space with the Spatial Dao Art to intensify the attack.
The surrounding nuns reeled in shock. When had Northern City last seen such fearsome dao techniques? Liu Wuxie’s barrage pushed their master to the brink.
Not to mention, Liu Wuxie’s Frost Dao Art resonated with the Northern City’s extreme cold, allowing him to draw the laws of ice in the surroundings.
The surrounding disciples shivered, forced to retreat as a thick sheet of frost crept across the ground. Jagged icicles hung from the rooftops like spears, glittering with lethal intent.
“What terrifying dao techniques!” Ji Qiu gasped.
When Liu Wuxie unleashed the three dao techniques together, their combined force tore through the air with devastating might. The mountain shook violently under the force of his attack. He hadn’t been bluffing. He truly had the power to raze the entire mountain.
“You dare!” the old nun roared as cracks spread through the surrounding buildings, but she couldn’t stop it.
The Great Five Elemental Palm pressed down like a grinding millstone, forcing the old nun to keep her distance. At the same time, the Spatial Dao Art sealed the area, making her attacks useless.
Cracks split open the ground as craters burst forth one after another.
For centuries, no one had disturbed this place until Liu Wuxie tore it apart. With scarce resources in the region, restoring the damage would be nearly impossible without outside imports.
“Bring them out, or I’ll start killing!” Liu Wuxie roared. He meant what he said. He hadn’t used the Great Dragon Aspect Art. If he did, the entire mountain would collapse, and all the nuns here would be buried alive.
The surrounding nuns stood dumbfounded. None of them had anticipated Liu Wuxie to wield such terrifying strength.
“Everyone, fight him to the death! We must protect the Half-Moon Nunnery even in death!” shouted the nuns in the surroundings as they charged forward.
Chaos erupted as the Half-Moon Nunnery teetered on the brink of collapse. The old nun struggled against the Spatial Dao Art’s grip, but as a third-level Earth Profound Realm expert, she shattered it in moments.
Master Yi brought her hands together, conjuring a massive palm that struck down toward Liu Wuxie. She unleashed a mysterious dao technique akin to the Great Five Elemental Palm, but this palm radiated chilling frost and gleamed with traces of metal elements.
“You’re all going to die today! The Half-Moon Nunnery no longer deserves to exist!” Liu Wuxie roared as his murderous intent burst forth like a tidal wave.
Rumbling lightning began to flicker in the sky as Liu Wuxie activated the Divine Thunder Physique. When he summoned the Heavenly Dragon Seal, the old nun’s expression twisted in shock.
She knew she couldn’t kill Liu Wuxie—and he couldn’t kill her either. If not for her duty to protect the Half-Moon Nunnery, she wouldn’t have ended up in this mess.
The barrage of dao techniques threatened to tear the Half-Moon Nunnery apart.
Liu Wuxie hadn’t even used the Annihilation Fist yet, if he had, he could have brought the entire mountain crashing down.
“Big Brother Liu, stop!” Xu Lingxue’s voice rang out as she and Murong Yi raced toward him.
Her voice jolted Liu Wuxie back to his senses, and he halted the Heavenly Dragon Seal mid-way. If the seal landed, it would tear half the mountain apart, leveling buildings throughout the Half-Moon Nunnery.
In a blur, Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi rushed to Liu Wuxie’s side.
“Big Brother Liu, Master Yi isn’t a bad person. She saved our lives,” Xu Lingxue said urgently.
Murong Yi stood beside her and nodded in silent agreement.
When he saw their hair untouched, Liu Wuxie exhaled in relief. He realized the old nun had lied deliberately to drive him away.
“Okay, I’ll listen to you,” Liu Wuxie said, recalling the Heavenly Dragon Seal.
His fury had come from fearing Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi were in danger, but their healthy appearance told him otherwise.
Thanks to Xu Lingxue and Murong Yi, the battle ended before it spiraled out of control.
“Who let you out?!” the old nun snapped.
She had assigned someone to keep an eye on the two ladies, but they had still managed to escape.
“Master Yi, please calm down. This is my husband, and we’re married. I know that you mean well, but we cannot accept your arrangement,” Xu Lingxue said as she stepped forward and stood beside Liu Wuxie. Xu Lingxue publicly declared Liu Wuxie as her husband for the first time.
“Junior Sisters, is this how you repay my master after she saved the two of you?” Several middle-aged nuns pushed through the crowd and confronted the two women.
Murong Yi firmly declined, “We’re truly grateful, and that is why we followed her to Northern City. But we cannot accept ordination.”
They wished to repay Master Yi’s kindness but refused to give up their future to do it.
“Ungrateful, the both of you!” one of the middle-aged nuns snapped. “Now that someone’s come to rescue you, you toss aside everything we’ve done for you!”
“Name your price for me to take them away,” Liu Wuxie said.
He could tell from their words that the old nun had saved the two ladies’ lives, but she had also forced them to come here. That was why the two ladies resented the old nun. There were many ways to repay kindness, but surrendering one’s future wasn’t one of them.
“You truly want to take them away?” Master Yi asked.
She could tell the two ladies were determined to leave and saw no meaning in forcing them to stay. Even if they physically stayed behind, their hearts would always be with Liu Wuxie. How could they continue to progress in their cultivation if that happened?
“Yes,” Liu Wuxie replied. He was willing to pay any price.
If he took them away without compensating Master Yi, they would carry guilt for the rest of their lives since Master Yi had once saved them.
“A ten-thousand-year Frost Bead rests beneath this peak. If you want to take them, retrieve it,” Master Yi said, assigning Liu Wuxie an impossible task.
She herself refused to venture into the glacial depths, so how could Liu Wuxie? She issued the challenge deliberately, hoping it would kill him. If he did, the two women would give up hope.
Murong Yi and Xu Lingxue clung to Liu Wuxie’s arm, their eyes full of silent pleas. The extreme north was cold, and they could imagine how cold it was beneath the mountain.
Accepting the task was no different from forfeiting one’s life.
“I accept it, but I’ll need a few days,” Liu Wuxie agreed after a brief consideration.
Gasps rippled through the crowd. No one had thought Liu Wuxie would agree so quickly.
Master Yi sneered. “You better think this through. Even experts at the Earth Profound Realm have died trying.”
