Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1141 - Prophecy Appears

Chapter 1141 – Prophecy Appears
It had been three days since the grand battle; the Liu Clan and its allies combined their efforts to swiftly rebuild the Heavenly Dao Society’s buildings.
That night, Liu Wuxie sat quietly on a rooftop, gazing at the starry sky.
“When the Astral Tower appears, the abyss rises and the nine stars align; the sun and moon ascend.. What does it all mean?” he murmured.
He had spent the past few days pondering those words, poring over ancient texts. He even consulted Elder Madman, yet no one could decipher their meaning.
Han Feizi still lay in the ice chamber, edging closer to death.
Worry gnawed at Liu Wuxie. He had tried to breach the crystalline border of the True Martial Continent and enter the Astral Domain, but a violent astral wind drove him back before he could succeed.
If it had been that easy, Heaven Profound Realm cultivators would have left a long time ago.
Suddenly, a radiant beam streaked across the sky and froze in mid-air, brighter than the surrounding stars. More meteors flashed from the opposite direction and hung inverted in the heavens.
“Nine-star alignment!” Liu Wuxie exclaimed. He recalled an ancient prophecy that foretold a great event during the nine-star alignment.
“When the Astral Tower appears, the abyss rises and the nine stars align; the sun and moon ascend.. Could this be it?” he muttered, a glint of realization in his eyes.
However, only two stars hung in the sky; the complete alignment had yet to happen.
Below, several patrolling disciples walked by, chatting.
“Did you hear? A massive mirage appeared over the western sea. A crowd is heading there to see it.”
Liu Wuxie trembled as his eyes lit up. The mirage aligned with the astral tower.
He needed the abyss to rise and for the sun and moon to appear together, and he would finally find a way into the Astral Domain.
In a flash, he appeared outside a distinct, intricately built structure.
“Wuxie? What brings you here so late?” Tian Xing greeted him.
Tian Xing oversaw this building and dedicated it to gathering intelligence across the continent.
“I need you to investigate all strange events across the True Martial Continent in recent days,” Liu Wuxie said.
The Heavenly Dao Society had shops and spies throughout the continent, even in the Eastern Domain, allowing them to obtain a constant flow of information.
“Follow me,” Tian Xing said, leading him down a dim corridor into a vast chamber.
Thousands of people were diligently processing intelligence. The intelligence team forwarded only the most important reports to Liu Wuxie, allowing him to focus on cultivation.
“Compile all recent anomalies,” Tian Xing ordered. The room came alive and functioned like a vast machine.
The staff compiled the data in under fifteen minutes.
“Elder Tian Xing, here are the reports,” Miao Jianying said, stepping forward. He had been helping Tian Xing and was known for his efficiency, but he looked troubled.
“Brother Miao, something troubling you?” Liu Wuxie asked. He hadn’t caught up with old friends since the battle.
“It’s nothing,” Miao Jianying replied with a forced smile and returned to work.
Liu Wuxie didn’t press him but remained unconvinced.
Tian Xing handed him the organized reports.
Setting Miao Jianying’s issue aside, Liu Wuxie picked up the stack of information.
Liu Wuxie began scanning them. One entry caught his attention. “A rare mirage appeared in the Western Barren, and it resembles an astral tower…”
Another from the Eastern Domain said, “Ghosthead Mountain sank, releasing a black miasma that resembled hell. Ghost clans began to rise, advancing toward the Eighteen Peak Cities.”
“The abyss rises,” Liu Wuxie murmured, eyes flashing.
He now only lacked the sign of the sun and moon ascending.
“What exactly are you looking for?” Tian Xing asked.
“Clues to enter the Astral Domain,” Liu Wuxie answered plainly.
“Then leave it to me. I’ll monitor all anomalies,” Tian Xing said.
“Thank you, Elder Tian Xing.” Liu Wuxie nodded, then turned and approached Miao Jianying.
“Come, let’s grab a drink,” he said, patting his friend’s shoulder.
Outside the chamber, they sat under the moonlight.
“Now tell me what’s really wrong. You know I can find out if I want to,” Liu Wuxie said, pouring wine for both.
The Heavenly Dao Society’s reach was vast, but he wanted to hear it from Miao Jianying himself.
“Bei Ming had finally made his move. When he found out that the Renowned Sword Manor was relocating to the Central Plains, he began backing our rivals to swallow our businesses,” Miao Jianying admitted grimly.
His role in intelligence allowed him to receive the news first. He likely withheld the report from Tian Xing to avoid disrupting the Society’s development.
After all, the Heavenly Dao Society was in rapid expansion and short of manpower. They couldn’t afford anyone leaving them at this moment.
“He’s courting death,” Liu Wuxie growled, murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
Bei Ming had already sent his steward to intercept them months ago. If not for Liu Wuxie’s strength, they wouldn’t have survived.
When Bei Ming learned of his steward’s death, he became furious and began targeting the Renowned Sword Manor.
Over the past month, the Renowned Sword Manor’s reallocation of disciples finally drew Bei Ming’s attention, and he made preparations to destroy them.
“This is a family matter. I didn’t want it to affect the Society,” Miao Jianying said, drinking deeply. He worried for his father.
“Do you still see me as your brother?” Liu Wuxie snapped, knocking the wine jar aside.
Miao Jianying lowered his head in guilt.
“I was planning to visit the Northern City anyway. Pack up. We leave at dawn,” Liu Wuxie said, turning to leave.
Though his words were harsh, Miao Jianying felt warmth in his heart. Liu Wuxie still treated him as a brother—and that was enough.
Liu Wuxie had indeed intended to visit the Northern City. Even without Miao Jianying’s problem, he had a reason to visit. He had to reach the ninth-level Earth Profound Realm.
Ordinary treasures were no longer enough to advance, even if he killed more first-level Heaven Profound cultivators. However, the Northern City held an Azure Nether Crocodile.
An ancient beast whose body carried ancient laws. If Liu Wuxie could kill and refine it, he felt confident that he could reach the peak of the Earth Profound Realm.
……
At dawn, Liu Wuxie left the Heavenly Dao Society and brought Miao Jianying with him.
He reserved three Divine Nine Cauldron Pills for his father, grandfather, and father-in-law. Then, he gave the rest to Bi Gongyu to help the elites of the Liu Clan and Heavenly Dao Society reach the Earth Profound peak.
Due to the scarce number of pills, even Xu Lingxue and the other ladies couldn’t receive any. Though refinement had reduced their effects, they remained potent.
He believed his grandfather and father could make a breakthrough to the Heaven Profound Realm. His father-in-law would then help protect the Society.
……
The Nine Profound Sect also sent resources to aid the reconstruction and formed an eternal alliance with the Heavenly Dao Society.
After crossing layers of space, they arrived at the Northern City’s gates a day later.
If Liu Wuxie had traveled alone, he would have arrived in just six hours.
Miao Jianying’s anxiety mounted as they got closer and closer to their destination.
“Any word?” Liu Wuxie asked, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
Miao Jianying shook his head. He had sent numerous messages along the way but received no replies. The Renowned Sword Manor’s silence struck an ominous note.
Upon entering the city, they sensed a heavy tension.
“A great battle took place here,” Liu Wuxie muttered. He extended his divine sense like mercury, covering a third of the city.
“Let’s go!” He grabbed Miao Jianying and vanished.
Five minutes later, they stood before the Renowned Sword Manor. Black smoke billowed from within to greet them, and a foul stench filled the air.
“Father!” Miao Jianying cried as he rushed inside to search.
Collapsed walls, charred debris, and corpses filled the grounds. Some were from the manor, others were strangers.
After hours of searching, Miao Jianying found no sign of Miao Feiyu. He clung to the hope that his father could still be alive.
Most disciples had already disappeared.
“They’ll be fine,” Liu Wuxie said, resting a hand on his shoulder.
It was hard to stay composed. The manor that raised Miao Jianying was now in ruins.
“I want revenge!” Miao Jianying rose, eyes burning.
Liu Wuxie didn’t stop him. He was planning on killing Bei Ming, even if Miao Jianying hadn’t asked him. Liu Wuxie had done nothing to provoke Bei Ming, yet the man still sent his steward to ambush them on their way back to the Central Plains.
