Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1313 - Retrieving the Wind Spiritrual Fruit

Chapter 1313 – Retrieving the Wind Spiritrual Fruit
Several corpses lay at Liu Wuxie’s feet, blood still flowing. All of them had the same wound: a bowl-sized crater in the chest, as if something had smashed straight through the sternum with overwhelming blunt force. The Storm Beast’s claws had done that.
The Storm Beast’s claws could tear through the flesh of a Void Realm cultivator with ease.
“Big Brother Liu, why is it so quiet?” Vanya asked. She couldn’t see in the darkness and could only rely on him. They hadn’t lit any flames since lighting anything would only expose them to the Storm Beast.
“The pit runs deep, and the Storm Beast retreated farther inside,” Liu Wuxie said as he spread his divine sense. The pit felt bottomless. He couldn’t even sense where it ended, which meant it might connect to deeper layers of the Netherworld.
After he searched the corpses quickly, Liu Wuxie pushed deeper through the tunnels. Within a few minutes, he heard the sound of wind and rain again, along with the noise of battle. The Storm Beast disliked sunlight, so this underground world stayed pitch-black.
A powerful surge of force blasted out and nearly threw Liu Wuxie off his feet. Several ninth-level Primal Origin Realm cultivators clashed in furious combat, and the shockwaves blasted, crashing against the rocky walls repeatedly.
By then, Liu Wuxie finally saw the Storm Beast. It looked like an ox with a hunched back and a massive head. Its limbs were thick and corded with strength, covered in dense scales. When it opened its bloodied maw, it unleashed a howling gale that blasted out in all directions.
Those with weaker cultivation couldn’t withstand that gale. The blast flung them like dolls and smashed them against the stone walls. The Storm Beast fought with savage ferocity. Though it hadn’t reached the Void Realm, its combat strength already rivaled the Quasi-Void Realm.
Liu Wuxie stayed still and waited. He could only strike once, while both sides tore into each other. More importantly, he still hadn’t seen the Wind Spiritual Fruit, and the other cultivators hadn’t either.
He activated the Ghost Eye and peered through the layers of stone. Moments later, he spotted a small pocket dimension about fifty meters away. Inside it, a strange fruit flickered softly, releasing rippling light.
The stone wall hid that pocket completely. Standard methods would have almost no chance of finding it. Only Liu Wuxie saw it with the Ghost Eye. The Storm Beast had hidden it well and sealed the Wind Spiritual Fruit inside the stone itself.
“Vanya, stay here. I’ll retrieve the Wind Spiritual Fruit,” Liu Wuxie said. Bringing her along would only slow him down, so he launched himself toward the fruit.
Vanya nodded and leaned against the stone wall. She summoned a strand of light law, just enough to light a few meters around her.
The instant Liu Wuxie moved, several cultivators noticed. Everyone in the Myriad Race Ceremony already knew his name. They had seen him near the edge of the pit before he had jumped, but none of them had interfered. Liu Wuxie’s fate was the Grand Unity Sect’s problem, not theirs, and none of them felt obliged to act as the Grand Unity Sect’s executioner.
Besides, their goal wasn’t Liu Wuxie. Their goal was the Wind Spiritual Fruit. Capturing Liu Wuxie might earn them a seventh-grade spiritual pill, but the Wind Spiritual Fruit could change destiny. No one here would trade that chance for a pill.
Dozens of figures broke off in pursuit, especially members of the faceless clan. They had followed him from the start like shadows. As long as Liu Wuxie lived, the faceless clan would never know peace.
He crossed the several dozen meters in an instant. Guided by the Ghost Eye, Liu Wuxie went straight toward the hidden pocket, executed the Dragon-Grasping Hand, and shattered the stone wall in one strike.
At that exact moment, an enraged roar burst from the Storm Beast. It abandoned everyone else and charged straight at Liu Wuxie.
However, Liu Wuxie had already reached in and pulled the strange fruit out.
“It’s the Wind Spiritual Fruit! Liu Wuxie got it!” someone shouted, stunned. Liu Wuxie had seized it before anyone else. How did he even know someone had hidden it behind the stone wall?
Though the Storm Beast hated light, the Wind Spiritual Fruit required it. When the wall shattered, surrounding laws seeped in, and faint light spilled into the chamber. The chamber stayed dim, but everyone could still see.
“Dragon Subduing Tiger!” Liu Wuxie yelled, throwing a punch the instant he saw the Storm Beast lunge at him. The impact generated a shockwave that forced the Storm Beast back several steps.
Expressions of those around him changed instantly as they realized they had seriously underestimated Liu Wuxie’s combat strength.
“Liu Wuxie, hand over the Wind Spiritual Fruit!” several cultivators shouted as they lunged toward him.
If any other Origin Conversion Realm cultivator got surrounded by multiple pinnacle Primal Origin Realm experts, they would have no way out. However, Liu Wuxie wasn’t someone who waited to die. He unleashed the Great Frost Mythical Art, then followed it immediately with the Nine Heavenly Dragon Forms and the Dragon-Grasping Hand.
Most importantly, he merged deathly energy and cursed energy into his strikes. Agonized screams tore through the darkness.
“That’s impossible! How can you be so powerful?!” Shock twisted the faces of the ninth-level Primal Origin Realm cultivators as the blasts hurled them back. They couldn’t accept what they were seeing.
The Storm Beast shook its head, then abandoned all other prey and charged straight at Liu Wuxie, its hooves pounding against the stone. Now Liu Wuxie had to face both the Storm Beast and the hostile cultivators at the same time.
The situation was turning against him. If this dragged on, he would die there. He had to erase at least one of the two threats. Once he removed one side, the other couldn’t threaten him anymore.
Just then, a stabbing pain shot through his soul sea. The faceless clan struck. They chose that exact moment to attack and disrupt him.
“Vanya, now!” Liu Wuxie yelled. He wasn’t alone—he had Vanya. Her combat strength rivaled the ninth-level Primal Origin Realm. And the elven race and the faceless clan stood as enemies by nature. Elven magic could dissolve the faceless clan’s attacks.
The Doom Tempest roared to life. It swept out like the end of days, making the entire black pit tremble. Huge boulders rained down from above. Liu Wuxie intended to twist that chaos to his advantage.
“Stop him! Don’t let him get away!” someone shouted. They thought Liu Wuxie was trying to escape under the cover of the chaos. They didn’t realize he wasn’t fleeing at all. He intended to kill.
The Doom Tempest lashed around the Storm Beast and wove itself into chains of stormwind that bound it in place.
Liu Wuxie ignored the faceless clan’s assault. He opened the Heavenly Dao Book, and mysterious energy latched onto his primordial spirit, which began to fade rapidly. At the same time, he executed the Curse Dao Art and drew in cursed energy, refining it. The more he refined, the stronger the Curse Dao Art grew.
In a single exchange, he killed the three members of the faceless clan. And he didn’t stop.
“Since you’re all courting death, I’ll grant your wishes,” Liu Wuxie said coldly, and he unleashed the Great Poison Mythical Art.
In that instant, Vanya switched to the Wind Erosion Magic. With Liu Wuxie’s coaching, her mastery had surged at a frightening pace. The gale-borne art ferried toxin through the cavern in a heartbeat; even the Storm Beast couldn’t escape as venom sank into its flesh.
“Liu Wuxie, you despicable coward! How shameless to stoop to poison!” many cultivators screamed as they scrambled to force the toxin out of their bodies.
Liu Wuxie had already refined a Poison Seed. Even Void Realm experts would need time to cleanse it; these foes stood only at the Primal Origin Realm, with no hope of enduring. Besides, if they hadn’t tried to bar his way, how would the poison have touched them?
Black miasma flooded the cavern. The Storm Beast writhed on the stone, venom-racked, barely able to cling to life, let alone strike back.
For the moment, his keenest blades were the Great Poison Mythical Art and the Great Five Elemental Mythical Art; even so, Vanya’s Wind Erosion Magic made that one-sided rout possible.
Weaker cultivators toppled like mown wheat. In a heartbeat, only a handful of the dozens who’d descended still stood on their feet.
“Die!” Liu Wuxie roared. He refused to drag it out and swept the Heretic Blade once, sending dozens of people thudding to the ground.
The Storm Beast had collapsed. It hadn’t died yet, but it lay prone and frothed at the mouth.
“Vanya, refine it, now!” Liu Wuxie shouted. Time pressed, and he needed her cultivation to rise as far as possible so she could keep aiding him.
“Understood!” Vanya nodded, already setting herself to refine the wind and rain elements.
As Liu Wuxie formed seals, the Storm Beast started to wither. He tore the elements within it by force. Had any survivors seen it, they would have been stunned, as his methods were heaven-defying.
He split the wind and rain into two portions, drawing one portion into the desolate world and pouring the other portion directly into Vanya.
As the two elements flooded Vanya, her aura surged and climbed toward the Void Realm’s threshold. She deliberately halted the breakthrough and diverted the power into her magic instead.
If she crossed into the Void Realm, the Myriad Race Ceremony would eject her, ending her run on the spot.
As Liu Wuxie absorbed the remainder of the elements, changes rippled across the desolate world. Rain began to fall throughout the desolate world, carried by gusts of wind. The laws within it grew more complete, and it felt more like an actual world.
Above, cultivators clustered along the pit’s rim. They had stayed topside and had no idea what had unfolded beneath their feet.
Roughly fifteen minutes later, Vanya finished her refinement.
“Big Brother Liu, my magical force has grown ten times stronger than before,” Vanya exclaimed in joy. Aside from the surge in magical force, she had even comprehended wind-attribute magic, and she could now use it to fly.
“Good. We’re leaving,” Liu Wuxie said. This wasn’t the place to refine the Wind Spiritual Fruit, with too many experts waiting above.
Even with Vanya being stronger, facing that many cultivators outside would be messy, especially since Liu Wuxie remained at the Origin Conversion Realm and still couldn’t fly unaided.
Just as Liu Wuxie readied the Divine Dragon Phantom, a soft spiral of wind wrapped him and lifted him clear of the ground. Vanya was already using wind-attribute magic to bear them upward toward the surface.
