Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1546 - Fifth-Level Earth Immortal Realm

Chapter 1546 – Fifth-Level Earth Immortal Realm
Anyone could imagine the agony crushing the chieftain as she used her own hands to push her only child into a pit of fire. As Ariel had said, the Spirit Clan’s ancestral teachings demanded that they uphold justice, shoulder righteousness, not be ungrateful, and remain true to their words.
Those teachings pressed against their hearts day and night, warning them not to violate them, even if it cost them their lives.
“Have you made up your mind?”
“I have!” Ariel replied without the slightest hesitation. She had weighed it for an entire day and still made the same choice.
“Let’s begin,” the chieftain said weakly, as though she had spent every last ounce of strength. The moment she spoke, three grand elders stepped forward.
The Sacred Mountain rose ten thousand feet into the sky, the holy mountain of the Spirit Clan. Today, countless Spirit Clan members knelt before it, praying.
The three grand elders stood at the mountain’s face, their hands clasped, and a halo of light bloomed to the left, forming a mysterious gateway.
Carrying Liu Wuxie’s body, Ariel slowly emerged from the main hall.
“Child, if you can’t withstand the extreme yang energy, there’s actually another way…” the chieftain whispered into Ariel’s ear, and the words made Ariel’s face burn crimson.
Ariel didn’t falter. With firm, steady steps, she carried Liu Wuxie through the streets, across the river, over ridges, and through valleys.
About an hour later, Ariel finally reached the foot of the Sacred Mountain. Sky City sprawled beyond imagination. At the Spirit Clan’s peak, millions had once lived there, but now only tens of thousands remained.
Countless Spirit Clan members rose and watched the saintess approach, and their voices lifted into song.
“Saintess, you can go in now,” the three grand elders said, signaling that Ariel could enter the Sacred Mountain.
Ariel nodded once. Her figure flickered as she shot toward the halo of light, holding Liu Wuxie close. As she surged forward, the halo released waves of suction, and she lost control at once. Still clutching Liu Wuxie, Ariel vanished from everyone’s sight.
Ariel felt a mysterious force seize her and carry her onward, then slam her onto uneven ground about a minute later. Jagged fragments of rock littered the floor, and the instant she arrived, a terrifying surge of extreme yang energy crashed into her.
Ariel immediately mobilized the heavenly yin energy within her to resist it, and two currents of yin and yang coiled around her body. That yin-and-yang current steadied her and allowed her to push deeper into the Sacred Mountain.
The Spirit Clan members contained pure yin energy. It was no wonder women held a noble status among them.
Ariel stood as the most gifted prodigy in the Spirit Clan’s history for the past ten thousand years. The heavenly yin energy within her surpassed all others in purity, reaching the level of the Heavenly Divine Yin Physique.
The extreme yang energy thickened as Ariel advanced, and if it continued like this, it would destroy both of them.
The Spirit Clan belonged to yin, while the Sacred Mountain belonged to yang. Yin and yang had intertwined, giving birth to the Spirit Clan, because neither energy could exist alone.
No wonder the Spirit Clan revered this place as the Sacred Mountain. The constant supply of yang energy from it nourished the entire Spirit Clan.
Ariel passed through a cavern, and the space ahead widened as a gentle radiance swept across the surroundings. Before long, a vast Sacred Pond appeared in front of her.
A terrifying concentration of extreme yang energy formed into that pond, and rumbling sounds roared from it like a waterfall. The Sacred Pond sprawled across the land, brimming with pure yang energy at an unbelievable level, each droplet condensed with it.
Pain twisted Liu Wuxie’s face. His physique had suffered severe damage, and he could not withstand the impact of such pure yang energy.
Just as the chieftain had warned, the pure yang energy cut both ways. It could heal Liu Wuxie, but it could also destroy him. Only the balance between yin and yang could keep him alive.
Ariel gently laid Liu Wuxie on the ground, drew a deep breath, and slowly removed all his clothing. His exposed body made her cheeks blaze as she tried not to look away.
Not long after, Ariel removed her own clothes, leaving them both naked. She picked Liu Wuxie into her arms and stepped into the Sacred Pond.
The deeper she went, the stronger the pure yang energy grew, and the heavenly yin energy pouring from Ariel’s body also surged to meet it.
A pair of white wings unfurled behind her. She had hidden them within her body all along, making her look like an ordinary person, and only now did they emerge as she activated them.
Those wings curled around Ariel and Liu Wuxie, wrapping them together into a cocoon.
With a loud splash, they plunged into the Sacred Pond and sank, little by little, into its boundless depths.
Two lumps of yin and yang energy shaped themselves into yin-yang fishes that coiled around them. The two currents collided, drilling into their bodies. The moment the pure yang energy flooded into Ariel, torment ripped through her so violently that she wanted to die, as though needles stabbed into every inch of her flesh.
After they entered the Sacred Pond, the Desolate Devouring Art began to circulate, devouring yin and yang energies together. The pure yang energy, in particular, poured into the desolate world and began repairing it the moment it was absorbed.
The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron accelerated its devouring speed, forming a torrent of liquid energy that rushed into the desolate world and mended the cracked ground.
Since Liu Wuxie had comprehended unity with heaven and earth, he didn’t need to fear the desolate world collapsing; at worst, its recovery would slow. His greatest problem lay in his soul sea.
Yet the Sacred Pond contained powerful soul energy, seemingly linked to a mysterious place, able to draw from heaven and earth.
When that soul energy entered Liu Wuxie’s soul sea, the Heavenly Dao Book began to awaken, releasing an even more intense radiance as it absorbed it. A thread of light appeared in the dried-up soul sea, showing signs of recovery, and no one would’ve expected the Sacred Pond to hold such an effect.
Ariel, however, teetered on the edge of collapse. Excruciating pain wracked her under the violent impact of the pure yang energy. It was worse because the pure yang energy ran too strongly; cracks began to spread across Liu Wuxie’s body, turning the situation dire.
Liu Wuxie’s body had become extremely fragile. If it shattered, recovery would not be easy, even with a physique that had attained unity with heaven and earth.
Ariel and Liu Wuxie continued to sink, and the surging pure yang energy only intensified. The cracks on Liu Wuxie’s arm multiplied.
Ariel immediately sensed something was wrong. If this continued, pure yang energy would eventually destroy Liu Wuxie’s body. His soul sea recovered the fastest, though, and under the nourishment of soul energy, Liu Wuxie’s consciousness began to stir.
Suddenly, a massive hole tore open on Liu Wuxie’s arm, and blood began to spill out. Pressure continued to rise, and Ariel froze in helpless panic. The heavenly yin energy she released could no longer keep pace with the pure yang energy.
With their bodies pressed tightly together, Liu Wuxie soon felt as though he had fallen into both ice and fire. Cold pressed from the left, scorching heat from the right, and yin and yang energies began to clog inside him.
Soon, Ariel faced the very situation her mother had warned her about. She recalled her mother’s words about failing to withstand the pure yang energy, and bitterness flickered across her face as she watched the holes on Liu Wuxie widen.
“Fine…” Tears slid down Ariel’s cheeks as she closed her eyes and slowly moved her right hand toward Liu Wuxie’s lower abdomen.
Suddenly, pain made her entire body tremble, and she nearly fainted. She forced herself to endure as they connected. When pure yang energy surged from Liu Wuxie into her, it merged swiftly with the heavenly yin energy inside her.
Almost immediately, heavenly yin energy flowed back into Liu Wuxie as well, and yin and yang began to fuse. The clogged energies cleared as they surged through her meridians, washed through their bone marrow, and swept through their souls.
Liu Wuxie’s consciousness returned at a terrifying pace, clawing its way out of darkness as a sliver of light returned to his eyes. Instinct drove his hands, and he suddenly exerted force as though he were hugging something precious. In this moment, they became one, and yin and yang intertwined without boundary.
Time drifted by, and two hours passed without either of them noticing. The pain on Ariel’s face gradually eased.
Nourished by yin and yang energies, Liu Wuxie’s body recovered rapidly, and his constitution underwent a drastic transformation on top of that. Even the damage left by Black God began to heal rapidly.
When the first strand of consciousness fully entered Liu Wuxie’s soul sea, he opened his eyes and found the world nothing like what he had imagined. Yin and yang energies wrapped around them as they hovered within the Sacred Pond.
“Ariel!” Liu Wuxie felt as though a thunderbolt had struck him the moment his eyes met hers.
He understood instantly that Ariel had sacrificed herself to treat his injuries.
When Ariel saw Liu Wuxie regain consciousness, she lifted her head and gave him a breathtaking smile. As she smiled, her body began to change, little by little, and her peerless beauty froze at that very moment.
“No!” Liu Wuxie shouted. He could feel Ariel’s body fading away, and wrenching pain ripped through his heart.
Because they had become one, no boundary remained between them, and yin and yang energies continued to shuttle through their bodies.
Sweet dew rained across the desolate world, restoring it to a great extent. His soul sea still hadn’t fully recovered, but danger no longer pressed at his throat. Soul energy within the Sacred Pond surged into Liu Wuxie’s soul sea like a tide.
In at most another two hours, Liu Wuxie’s soul sea would recover completely.
“Remember what I looked like before,” Ariel said, lifting a hand to caress Liu Wuxie’s face.
Ariel’s body continued to transform. Her peerless beauty faded away, and before Liu Wuxie’s eyes, she became a white bird. The bird stood about half a meter tall, pristine white from head to toe, each feather shimmering with a faint glow.
Her eyes gradually turned dazed, and wariness even surfaced as she looked at Liu Wuxie. Every memory of Ariel vanished completely.
“No!” Liu Wuxie could not understand what had happened, nor why Ariel had become like this.
To save him, Ariel had given him the most valuable thing she possessed.
Liu Wuxie pulled Ariel closer and drew a deep breath, sucking in a vast amount of energy. The aura around him climbed, surging straight into the fifth-level Earth Immortal Realm. After his breakthrough, he had practically recovered all his injuries, and the desolate world had become even more complete.
Thanks to the transformation of yin and yang energies, the desolate world brightened further, and a blazing sun appeared, followed by a crescent moon.
