Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1562 - Butchering the Pirates

Chapter 1562 – Butchering the Pirates
Liu Wuxie couldn’t make sense of the situation, so he questioned the middle-aged man, wondering whether saving someone had been a mistake. He couldn’t stand idle and watch someone kill a one-year-old child.
“You didn’t do anything wrong. What’s wrong is this damned world. If you don’t want more people to die because of you, leave the Tri-Glyph Island immediately,” the middle-aged man said, clenching his fists.
No one had done anything wrong, and the only thing wrong was the world itself.
The island’s residents began driving Liu Wuxie away, and some even started hurling garbage at him.
Reason sounded weak in a place like this because the Thousand Islands Sea Region wasn’t a land of morality, and survival outweighed everything. To stay alive, they would even sell off their children to trade for food.
Liu Wuxie couldn’t bring himself to strike back against unarmed elders, and he couldn’t lay hands on the weak or on children. He let the garbage fly, while the Divine Heavenly Feather Robe activated on its own to block it.
“Leave, or I’ll die before your eyes,” an elderly woman said, pressing a dagger to her throat as blood dripped down. They were ordinary people, and if they could have defeated Liu Wuxie, they would have acted already.
Seeing that, Liu Wuxie could only sigh, then vanish from Tri-Glyph Island and head for the next island.
After Liu Wuxie left, everyone finally calmed down. But they had no idea that not long after his departure, the black warship returned with two more, all packed with pirates.
Black clouds pressed down like a brewing storm, and waves rose ten meters high as Liu Wuxie flew over the ocean and landed on a reef. The next island lay far away, so he planned to wait there until daylight before continuing his journey.
Sitting on the reef, Liu Wuxie circulated the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron and drew a surging current from the surroundings, forming a vortex around him that devoured all spiritual energy within a ten-thousand-meter radius.
With wind and waves as concealment, Liu Wuxie didn’t need to worry about being discovered. Moreover, the sea surrounded him, and no one would pass by here at night.
Spiritual energy poured into the desolate world like a tide. His true essence increased at a slower rate now, yet it grew even more purified as he cultivated. He closed his eyes to comprehend the laws of heaven and earth.
At this stage of cultivation, he no longer relied on resources alone and instead leaned more on comprehension. Countless runes of heaven and earth gathered around him and threaded through his body.
Rain poured from the sky, blurring the surroundings, while lightning serpents intertwined overhead, and howling wind followed close behind.
By the time the three warships approached, over a thousand pirates had already rushed ashore and begun their massacre. Flames soared into the sky, and even the downpour couldn’t suppress the blaze.
Suddenly, a sharp pain jolted Liu Wuxie’s heart, and he sprang to his feet and scanned the distance.
“This is bad!” The blaze on Tri-Glyph Island burned so fiercely that it could be seen from tens of thousands of meters away.
“You all have to hold on,” Liu Wuxie prayed inwardly as he vanished. If every resident on the island died because of him, he would carry that guilt for the rest of his life.
He shuttled through space, and since the reef lay close to Tri-Glyph Island, it only took him a few breaths.
Screams and cries filled the island. The pirates dragged residents from their homes and gathered them on the streets, where plunder began in earnest.
A cultivator at the second-level Heaven Gaze Realm appeared and demanded, “Tell me, where’s the survivor of the Mei Clan?” He was the lord of the Four Waters Island and also the chief of this pirate band.
No one answered because they didn’t even know who the Mei Clan’s survivor was.
“Since you won’t speak, don’t blame me for being ruthless,” the lord of Four Waters Island said as he signaled, and a pirate dragged an old man forward, ready to decapitate him.
Rage burned in everyone’s chests, yet none of them could do anything. They were ordinary people, and the strongest among them had only reached the Origin Conversion Realm. With the island’s limited resources, nurturing an expert was impossible.
“Don’t kill him! The one you want is me,” the beautiful woman said as she stepped out from the crowd. She had disguised herself earlier.
She had planned to flee before daylight, but the pirates had returned too quickly.
“You’re really a survivor of the Mei Clan,” the lord of Four Waters Island said with a lecherous smile as his gaze landed on her face.
“They’re all innocent. I’ll go with you as long as you let these people go,” the woman said.
“That’s not up to you,” the lord of Four Waters Island replied with a vicious look. With a wave of his hand, the surrounding pirates raised their weapons and charged the crowd.
Once those blades fell, no one would be able to stop them because these pirates were monsters who killed without blinking. But just as the blades were about to drop, a terrifying aura swept down from the sky.
“Get lost!” Liu Wuxie appeared and swung his palm, blasting everyone nearby away.
When the island’s residents saw Liu Wuxie, their faces showed mixed emotions. They had driven him away earlier, convinced he was the source of their misfortune, yet they never realized the pirates wouldn’t spare them even without him.
“They’re just normal civilians. Isn’t it too much to kill them?” Liu Wuxie asked coldly as he stared at the lord of Four Waters Island.
“Brat, you’re the person who caused trouble for us. You’ll stay behind tonight,” the lord of Four Waters Island said. Soul Reaper had already told him everything, and without Liu Wuxie’s interference, Soul Reaper would have captured the Mei Clan’s survivor already.
“Kill him!” The lord of Four Waters Island ordered, and several pirates at the Earth Immortal Realm rushed at Liu Wuxie, with Soul Reaper among them.
“Watch out!” the beautiful woman warned.
Liu Wuxie didn’t even blink. He raised his hand and cast the Dragon-Grasping Hand, instantly taking the lives of all four cultivators, including Soul Reaper.
Horror slammed into the crowd, and everyone froze. They had expected Liu Wuxie to die, yet he simply turned the situation around with such ease.
The lord of Four Waters Island narrowed his eyes, realizing he had severely underestimated Liu Wuxie’s strength. The ordinary pirates all retreated in terror, not daring to approach.
“You’ve got some guts to kill pirates of the Seventy-Two Caves. You can die now,” the lord of Four Waters Island said as he personally attacked Liu Wuxie.
As a powerhouse at the second-level Heaven Gaze Realm, his attack whipped up a storm so fierce that it swept the rain aside.
Liu Wuxie remained indifferent as the strike approached him because the lord of Four Waters Island couldn’t even compare to Zhen Yiming.
“Great Five Elemental Mythical Art!” A terrifying palm formed in midair, striking fear in the pirate lord. He tried to retreat, but it was already too late.
The five elemental millstones locked onto him, and no matter how he struggled, he couldn’t break free. When the millstone pressed down, the entire Tri-Glyph Island let out a creaking sound, as if it might sink at any moment, and the force of that palm strike already rivaled cultivators at the high levels of the Heaven Gaze Realm.
“This is impossible! How can a mere earth immortal like you possibly unleash such power?!” the lord of Four Waters Island exclaimed, staring in disbelief.
“You’re committing all evil without restraint, and I will end your life of sins today,” Liu Wuxie said, his tone icy as he showed no intention of sparing these pirates. If he hadn’t returned in time, every resident here would have died, and his dao heart would have suffered everlasting damage.
Cracking sounds rang out as the lord of Four Waters Island creaked under the pressure, on the verge of being crushed at any moment.
“All of you attack!” the pirate lord roared.
Over a thousand pirates surged forward like a locust swarm.
“Nether Deity Harvest! Soul Spear!” Liu Wuxie resorted to soul attacks. The moment he unleashed the two soul techniques, a rain of killing descended, and Soul Spears alone numbered in the thousands, blotting out the sky.
A bizarre scene followed as every pirate charging forward collapsed to the ground. The residents stared at Liu Wuxie as if they had witnessed a deity.
In a single breath, more than a thousand pirates lay on the ground.
The lord of Four Waters Island finally panicked and kept forming seals, desperately trying to break free from the Great Five Elemental Mythical Art.
“Heretic Blade!” Liu Wuxie summoned his artifact, and it streaked out and appeared in front of the lord of Four Waters Island.
The Heretic Blade pierced through the pirate lord, blood spraying as a dignified expert at the second-level Heaven Gaze Realm died without even understanding how.
Tri-Glyph Island fell into dead silence. The residents couldn’t believe what they saw, because the pirates who had bullied them for centuries had died in front of their eyes.
“Please don’t kill us! They have taken everything on this island,” the elders begged as they dropped to their knees and kowtowed in terror, afraid Liu Wuxie would slaughter them like he did the pirates.
“Everyone, rise. I won’t harm any of you,” Liu Wuxie said as he helped them up one by one. He had just arrived and didn’t understand the rules of the Thousand Islands Sea Region.
“Everyone, stand up,” the beautiful woman said, gesturing for them to rise and speak.
Even after they got to their feet, their faces were still pale from shock, as disbelief and fear lingered in their eyes. Centuries of terror had carved itself into their bones, and now that the pirates were gone, the emptiness felt unreal.
“What’s going on? Why did these pirates want to slaughter the entire island?” Liu Wuxie asked, turning to the beautiful woman. He wanted the reason because slaughtering everyone brought no benefit and would destroy their source of income, and no sane pirate would do something like that.
“It’s a long story. Please give me a moment. I’ll explain everything to you once I calm the residents down,” the woman replied with a wry smile because she couldn’t explain it in just a few words.
