Diary of a Dead Wizard - Chapter 942: The Fourth Target

No one could comfort Heywood for losing his sister, nor did he need it.
Though his blue-purple heterochromatic eyes were calm to the point of numbness, they showed no weakness.
In the distance, Maria could no longer pacify the uproarious wizards, and she herself was quite surprised and uncomfortable.
But whenever she thought of how Wizard Murphy had already sacrificed himself for the Sighing Wall, with even his corpse transformed into the new First Wizard Tower to continue guarding the Sighing Wall, she couldn’t bring herself to hate him.
She walked up to Saul and, seeing his calm demeanor, remembered that Saul hadn’t signed his name on the crystal wall at all. With a bitter smile, she said, “Saul, it seems I can’t join your faction after all. Now my life is bound to the Sighing Wall, and everything must prioritize the Sighing Wall’s interests.”
“That won’t do.” Saul ruthlessly refused. “We’ve already made a deal.”
Maria hadn’t expected Saul to say this. It didn’t seem like his character.
Before Maria could be confused for long, Saul raised his head slightly, facing the Sighing Wall and said, “Wizard Murphy also agreed to let you join my faction. This cannot be revoked.”
Saul hadn’t just been watching the spectacle. In fact, after discovering that the Sighing Wall had fused with numerous wizards’ soul bodies, he had been wondering whether such a Sighing Wall could be considered a special life form.
If so, would it have its own unique fate lines?Saul said to those beside him, “Let’s go over there. Such a Sighing Wall is too fragile and may not be able to persist through the black tide. Let’s go inscribe some magical arrays on it to help strengthen the wizards here.”
Keli looked over in surprise, vaguely sensing what Saul intended to do. The so-called magical arrays should be the same ones she had arranged outside Bayton Academy last time.
Beth, hidden in the diary, directly exposed Saul’s intention.
[Saul, are you planning to make the Sighing Wall your fourth target?]
Although the text had no voice, Saul could still see the other’s shock from Beth’s big question mark.
He couldn’t help but laugh. “Why not?”
Without hesitation, Saul led Keli directly up the Sighing Wall.
Several wizards on the wall were gathered together discussing what to do next. Seeing Saul arrive, they only glanced over casually.
“Do you see that fissure?” Saul pointed to the largest crack on the wall.
“Mm-hmm.” Keli nodded repeatedly.
“And that one, and that one…” Saul pointed to several more locations, marking each with magical power. “I’ll go inside the largest fissure in a moment. You give Maria a copy of the auxiliary array and have her help you set it up. With both of you working together, it should take about an hour.”
A third-rank wizard and a second-rank wizard working together would definitely be faster than when Keli first set it up. Moreover, the auxiliary arrays mainly provided energy and weren’t particularly complex.
Keli acted decisively, immediately going to find Maria.
Saul flew to the first fissure he had chosen. This huge crack was wide enough for almost two people to stand side by side. If the Sighing Wall weren’t a wizard’s creation, the upper half of the wall would probably have already collapsed.
After entering the fissure, Saul discovered that this crack wasn’t particularly deep, or perhaps it had been somewhat repaired after absorbing many wizards’ soul fragments.
He raised his left hand to retrieve materials from his storage device, only to grab at empty air. Only then did he remember that he had thrown both Little Algae and his storage device into the sea during the battle with the anchor point.
He hadn’t retrieved them yet!
Saul turned to head into the sea, only to see Heywood standing on the rocks below the Sighing Wall, holding Little Algae.
He quickly jumped down. “Where did you find it?”
Heywood showed a bitter smile. “Your Soul-Devouring Mire already has second-rank strength. How could I be the one picking it up? It suddenly climbed onto the rocks and then pulled me down from the air. So I brought it to find you.”
“Thank you.” Saul extended his hand, letting Little Algae crawl onto his arm. “What do you plan to do next? Master Gorsa has already left, and I won’t stay much longer either. Although you can’t stray too far from the Sighing Wall now, I can speak with Maria to have you work and fight within the Sighing Wall in the future.”
Fighting at headquarters would definitely be safer.
Heywood thought for a moment, then looked back at the sea behind him. “Thank you, but I’d still prefer to fight in the wizard tower. I’m already used to life there.”
Saul didn’t mind. Heywood’s future life was his own decision to make.
As a third-level wizard apprentice stationed at the Sighing Wall’s wizard tower, he could obtain quite a few resources.
Perhaps one day he’d have a chance to breakthrough to become a true wizard.
Saul, carrying Little Algae, returned to the largest fissure and casually pulled his storage device from Little Algae’s mouth, dumping out all the materials for setting up the Symphony of Fate.
“This Sighing Wall truly lives up to being Wizard Murphy’s magical creation. Even inscribing arrays on it is so difficult.” Saul first tried ordinary magical power inscription methods but couldn’t leave any traces.
That made sense. If magical arrays could be easily inscribed on the Sighing Wall, wouldn’t it be very dangerous if they encountered a traitor or spy?
The original magical arrays on the Sighing Wall should have been left by Murphy himself. Only the Sighing Wall’s master could easily leave marks on it.
However, today this Sighing Wall would begin a new chapter.
If ordinary magical power inscription couldn’t leave traces, then he’d use force.
A row of Soul Blades appeared beside Saul, suddenly accelerating and striking the inner walls of the fissure.
“Wizard Saul, what are you doing?” Someone had been watching when Saul entered the fissure. Seeing him actually attacking the Sighing Wall, they quickly came to stop him.
Little Algae, which had been coiled around Saul like a snake, immediately shot out, sticking its little black tongue out at the approaching wizard.
The one who dared to come alone to stop Saul was naturally also a third-rank wizard. Originally seeing Little Algae’s magical aura was only second-rank, he didn’t take it seriously at all. But as soon as he approached, he discovered that Little Algae was actually spitting at him.
Most terrifyingly, that saliva contained extremely strong black tide pollution. The concentration was even higher than the sea during the black tide’s arrival!
The newcomer quickly stopped, looking at Little Algae with suspicion and uncertainty, then turning his investigative gaze toward Saul.
What kind of person would have a pet that naturally carried high-concentration black tide pollution?
Saul turned back and simply said, “If you have questions, go ask Maria,” then continued focusing on inscribing his pentagram.
Even with the highly aggressive Soul Blades, precisely carving on the Sighing Wall was very difficult. Finally, Saul changed his approach, using points instead of lines, having the Soul Blades leave tiny dots on the wall, then arranging these dots to form the runic patterns he needed.
“This feels like tattooing the wall.”
This was Saul’s first time making such a special, non-normal life form capable of containing soul consciousness into a target for the Symphony of Fate. Rather than saying this target was the Sighing Wall, it would be more accurate to say this target was all the wizards bound to the Sighing Wall!
Under Murphy’s constraints, they had become a community of shared fate. Once successfully bound, how much destiny power could such a complex and powerful existence bring to Saul?
An hour later, a pentagram marking suddenly rose in the sky—Keli’s signal to Saul that they were ready.
Saul had also just completed all his work.
He smiled with satisfaction, turning to look at the row of high-rank wizards standing outside the fissure. “I’m about to begin repairing the wall. You’d better pray I succeed on the first try.”
The wizards outside had more or less seen that Saul wasn’t engaged in sabotage. Now that the Sighing Wall had no fourth-rank wizards, if Saul was truly willing to step forward and help them at this time, it couldn’t be better.
As for whether Saul might have some conspiracy?
They didn’t even know if the current Sighing Wall could survive the next black tide attack. Could the situation get any worse?
Having anticipated that these wizards wouldn’t stop him at this point, Saul chuckled lightly, then pressed his palm against the massive magical array behind him!
A red light instantly rose from the array, directly enveloping him and the entire Sighing Wall!
“As expected, it works!”
